144 projects worth RM14b implemented in Sabah
TAWAU: The MADANI Government has successfully implemented 144 development projects in Sabah to date, involving a total allocation of RM14 billion, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar said the projects include the upgrading of Tawau Hospital and Lahad Datu Prison, the construction of the Sepanggar Bay container port and the proposed heart medical centre in Kota Kinabalu.
He added that the government has allocated over RM350 million for the MADANI Solar programme, with Tawau selected as the pilot project site.
The initiative involves the installation of 40 solar-powered streetlights in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and the local community.
'We are doing what's best for the people... addressing issues such as electricity and energy costs, education for children, toilets, science labs, police and armed forces needs including housing, and roads to be repaired.
'In just over two years, this is what the MADANI Government has achieved. Some say it's still not enough, and I agree because some of the issues are inherited and cannot be resolved in just a year or two,' he said.
Anwar said this in his speech when officiating the closing ceremony of the Sabah MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025 at the Tawau Municipal Council square here today.
Also present were Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
Anwar also announced that the government has approved an additional allocation of RM10 million to maintain small shops and stalls across the state under the Projek Siap Tamu Sabah.
'In conjunction with today's Mother's Day celebration, this is a gift for the many mothers who run businesses at these Tamu Desa markets to provide greater comfort, allowing them to trade sheltered from the sun and rain.
'I don't want to be a prime minister who forgets the people's hardships. That's why we continue to do our best to develop Sabah, from enhancing connectivity to AI, digital initiatives, and our efforts to eradicate poverty,' he said.
Commenting on the three-day Sabah PMR 2025, which concluded today, Anwar said it served as an excellent platform for the local community to gain exposure to various government initiatives, programmes and projects.
'...for the people to learn about what the government is doing, such as in the agriculture, digital and defence sectors. Let this be a platform for monitoring government efforts and for the youth to share their views and ideas in building a great and progressive Malaysia,' he said.
Themed Ending Poverty Through Entrepreneurship, the Sabah PMR 2025 is part of a nationwide government initiative spearheaded by the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) in collaboration with the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry as the lead ministry, and the Sabah Government as host, to bring essential government services directly to the people.

I know we can achieve more reforms, and the only way to do this is us MPs must push the government harder from the backbench,' said Wong. Wong was aligned with former PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli during the party's elections last month. He lost his seat on the PKR central leadership council, while Rafizi was defeated by Nurul Izzah Anwar and subsequently offered his resignation from the Cabinet. In the lead up to the PKR elections, Wong had questioned the source of funds used to hold party events, pointing out that such events were not so lavish in the past. He had also reportedly said at a forum that going into politics had come at a personal cost and that the allowance received by MPs was not sufficient as they also had to cover constituency costs. According to published reports, backbench MPs may receive about RM27,500 in total allowances a month, while also supervising a constituency development allocation of RM1.7 million.

‘Fine, see you in court': Fahmi Reza calls out authorities over travel ban confusion, says no one taking responsibility; vows legal action
KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — Graphic artist and activist Fahmi Reza has criticised the government over his recent overseas travel ban, saying no authorities have taken responsibility for the incident. In a strongly worded statement posted on Facebook, Fahmi said despite government claims that there was 'no official travel restriction' against him, he was still barred from leaving the country due to what authorities described as a 'confusion during an immigration check'. 'I don't see any government body owning up to the mistake that resulted in the restriction of my freedom of movement,' he said. 'You keep saying there is 'no official ban'. But in reality, I was still blocked and denied my right to travel,' he added. Fahmi questioned the government's accountability, saying he had lost time and money because of the incident, yet no agency had taken the blame. He also pointed out the double standards in how regular citizens are swiftly prosecuted for offences, whereas authorities often escape responsibility. 'This time, it's the people's turn to drag those in power to court,' Fahmi said. He insisted that no government or authority is above the law and that citizens should not be afraid to challenge injustice. 'You always tell me to 'use the right channel', don't you? Fine, see you in court,' he said. The travel issue came to light after Fahmi was reportedly prevented from boarding an international flight yesterday. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had earlier denied the existence of a blacklist order against Fahmi, saying there was no directive from the government to restrict his movement. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain similarly stated that police did not issue any instruction to bar Fahmi from leaving the country and attributed the matter to possible confusion at the immigration checkpoint.
