Just before he went missing, Goofy was at the dip tank while rural dogs were being dipped against parasites – a daily occurrence at the SPCA in its quest to contribute to the health of rural animals.
It was only once the dip tank area had been vacated that they realised Goofy was missing.
The SPCA put out a plea online on Tuesday afternoon, urging anyone with information regarding Goofy's whereabouts to contact them.
Inspectors were also out searching for Goofy in surrounding areas.
'We got a phone call from a member of the public who said he saw Goofy with a bunch of youngsters,' said Marina Visser, Empangeni SPCA chairperson.
'He recognised the dog, and then they were driving around this [Wednesday] morning and they found Goofy among another pack of dogs, but no person.
'The man took the dog and phoned the SPCA inspector, who collected Goofy.'
