Chris Hughes hits out at 'disgusting' trolling of girlfriend JoJo Siwa

Metro5 days ago
It appears Chris Hughes is done biting his tongue against backlash to his relationship with JoJo Siwa.
The Love Island star, 32, and Dance Moms alum, 22, have been a hot topic of gossip since getting together after meeting on the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother.
Alas, sharing personal snaps galore from their getaways and giving the internet an intimate look into their romance has also led to trolling.
But Chris, who has already confessed to wanting to marry and settle down with JoJo after a month of dating, has had enough.
Taking to his Instagram Story this afternoon, the TV personality responded with a lengthy clapback after one commenter hit out at JoJo's music career.
Named James, the individual's bio says he works in music artist management. In his original comment, he made a sarcastic quip about JoJo's community consisting of '60 comments and 11 likes', adding: 'It's no wonder the last single performed how it did'.

Going to town with his reply, Chris wrote: 'I hate to be this person, but rn respectfully I don't care. Trolls can be trolls, do your thing, whatever, carry on. They'll always exist, they'll always run with whatever narrative they want to push, and jump on bandwagons for social validation, you're always going to have them.
'This is different though, this doesn't sit well with me and this is disturbing.'
He continued to say the man in question neither knows nor follows him or JoJo, yet 'comes out of his way to [Chris's] latest post, creates a thread of 100+ comments of hatred in a now deleted comment'.
'The thing I find really ugly is that, through gritted teeth, this person is a music industry professional. Not your average troll, someone who's worked with the likes of Modest, Global and so on, someone who has worked with artists and performers, understands the pressures, the industry, how rewarding and how tough it can be, yet feels completely comfortable to want to shame other people within their industry absolutely NEEDLESSLY, just off a couples Instagram post.'
'I find it disturbing because it's cowardly,' Chris blasted. 'It's unprofessional and it's rude and shock it's now deleted, and I knew it would be, just gross. He tried to justify it being fine because the post popped up on his explore page. That was his validation.'
Concluding his rant, Chris addresses 'James' directly, saying: 'I hope your fellow industry professionals don't unnecessarily target you one day for absolutely no reason and try to belittle or put down your work, and I meant that. It's not nice, it's not pretty and it's just not called for.'
In a declaration of his feelings for JoJo, he added: 'Do better, just don't come for my person in the way you have, unprovoked, on a professional scale or any other music artist for that matter. Thank you.'
Chris wasn't done there, though, as the ITV Racing host also shut down commenters branding him 'creepy' for sharing a 10-year age gap with JoJo.
The presenter posted a carousel of pics to his 2.2million followers over the weekend from his latest trip to the States to spend time with JoJo and her family.
His snaps showed the lovebirds cuddling up by the pool, kissing on dinner dates, playing golf and tennis, and larking around in a water fight alongside the caption: 'just everything 🤍 missing you🏌🏼‍♀️🫶🏼🏌🏽🎾🐕'
Taking issue with the post, however, a woman named Pauline wrote underneath: 'Does anybody else find this creepy'.
Not mincing his words, Chris replied: 'No Pauline, you're miserable, p**s off kindly'.
After she retorted with, 'lol we see how long it lasts', Chris added: 'Yeah again, you don't need to speak, you don't follow me, respectfully do one thank you.'
And it continued further, with a social media user named Liz seemingly accusing Chris of using JoJo for clout, writing: 'Mate sort yourself out. You would do anything for fame'.
Jumping to defend him, a Chris fan responded with: 'Oh Liz, imagine hating someone who's just living and happy. Misery aren't you.'
Liz replied: 'I don't hate anybody sweetheart I just live in the real world,' provoking Chris to reply with: 'The real world! online bullies are the real world apparently.'
Chris, who returned to the UK days ago to attend Jack P. Shepherd's wedding, recently professed that he 'can't keep his hands off' JoJo, as he gave his first interview on their romance.
Speaking to The Sun, he added that he tells the Karma hitmaker he loves her 'every day'.
'She's the last person I speak to at night and the first I speak to when I wake up,' he said. More Trending
'I can't explain it, but it's a safe love. It's like a natural high.'
As for JoJo, the feeling is clearly mutual, as she often refers to her boyfriend with the nickname 'my sweet Christopher'.
She also told The Guardian that they have a 'beautiful connection'.
'I'm absolutely head over heels for him, and he's the same way.'

Jess Wright always in 'doubt' over her success as she's compared to brother Mark

Former TOWIE star Jess Wright candidly admits to comparing her success to her famous brother Mark and her other siblings as she often doubts if she's 'doing well enough' Reality TV star Jess Wright has revealed that she constantly doubts her own success when comparing her career to that of her brother Mark Wright. Jess first shot to fame when she appeared on The Only Way Is Essex back in 2010 and has managed to secure a number of career successes since leaving the show the show. ‌ But due to the harsh nature of the TV industry, the star claims that she is constantly worrying if she is doing as well as her famous sibling, who co-hosts his Heart radio show alongside singer, Olly Murs. This comes after John Torode's wife Lisa Faulkner breaks her silence after his MasterChef sacking. ‌ In a recent interview, Jess said: "I'm quite driven by my family. Everyone is really ambitious and, obviously, Mark's really successful. Joshua is successful in what he does. Natalya's smashing it with her stuff. So you're always like: "God, am I doing enough?" I'm really hard on myself. I always think I'm not doing well enough." ‌ ‌ Opening up to The Sun in one of her most candid chats to date, she revealed that she often wakes up in the morning "thinking about my career." Having had a long stint within TV, Jess went on to say that she is aware of all the new faces that are coming through thanks to shows including Love Island. And TV bosses are always looking for the next big thing. But Jess is now set to join Jack Osbourne, Natalie Cassidy and Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu as they star in Cooking With The Stars, which is set to air later this evening. ‌ And while she is set to compete on a cooking show, it has also been reported that Mark, who recently became a father for the first time, is also rumoured to be appearing on Celebrity Bake Off. If the rumours are to be believed, Mark will join Molly-Mae Hague and JoJo Siwa. A source informed the publication: "Mark has had his hands full being a new dad but he found time to film for the new series of Celebrity Bake Off. It's a cause close to Mark's heart as it's all for the Stand Up Cancer charity and he is a big fan of the show. " ‌ They added: "It won't air until next year so fans will have to wait a good few months to find out how he fares in the tent." Despite being a father for the first time, it seems as though both he and Michelle Keegan have taken to parenthood with ease. When speaking about her brother as a dad, Jess told OK!: "Obviously now we've got Palma who is going to fit right in. She's adorable! They all absolutely love spending time with each other and Palma is an angel. She's so beautiful and sweet. The boys love her and are very gentle with her." She added: "It's lovely seeing [Mark and Michelle] as parents, I knew they would be incredible parents and they are. We're always with each other anyway and we tell each other little bits - there's always room to help each other out when you have babies. It's all such new territory."

I have to warn you after watching 'heart-stabbing' Netflix film My Oxford Year

Netflix has just released a new film that has fan up in arms about its ending, questioning its classification as a rom-com – and I'm afraid to say, is also just a bit crap. Fans have swarmed social media to reveal they are 'speechless', 'devastated' and generally crying their eyes out over the movie, while others have taken it to task for being 'so boring' and leaving them 'feeling nothing' for any other characters. And I wholeheartedly agree. Not only does My Oxford Year take a very long time to introduce any stakes, but before we get there it's a painful watch for British fans not particularly interested in the film's tourist porn shots of the titular city and university. And while they do at least cast English actors in English parts (Corey Mylchreest, Dougray Scott, Catherine McCormack), some of the schmaltz could not more obviously point to American involvement – we just don't mix well with unnecessarily twinkling and dramatic music underscoring even the most mundane of teaching scenes. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. The 'rom-com', loosely based on the book by American author Julia Whelan, who attended Oxford herself, concerns ambitious working-class New Yorker Anna (Sofia Carson), who is attending the University of Oxford to study Victorian poetry as a postgraduate. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video While there she falls for charming local Jamie (Queen Charlotte's Mylchreest), who also happens to be teaching her classes, and the pair begin a very tedious, chemistry-free flirtationship before a secret he's been hiding threatens their burgeoning romance. (Also warning you that, despite Bridgerton raising our expectations in this department, there are no steamy sex scenes to be found here, and even their tiringly clichéd kiss in the rain gave me nothing.) *Spoilers ahead for My Oxford Year* This is where My Oxford Year takes a sharp left into cancerbait territory, revealing that Jamie is doomed to succumb to an unspecified form of the disease, just like his late brother, despite looking and acting like the healthiest, liveliest rake in the room – plus, y'know, Mylchreest. Obviously, they are reminding us that not everyone fatally ill looks or acts that way (and nor should they have to), but it's a clumsily made point when the film decides to give Mylchreest his first topless scene while receiving chemotherapy. And then they belatedly whack out the greyish face make-up for one scene later on. My Year at Oxford's ending reveals that Jamie does indeed die after catching a critical case of pneumonia, sharing the news surprisingly subtly as Anna lies in bed with Jamie, narrating the stops of the grand European tour they intended to go on. While the montage initially shows the couple happily together exploring Amsterdam, Venice, Paris and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion in Greece, the camera then swings around to reveal Anna on her own taking the trip instead – and fine, yes, okay, I got a little burning behind the eyes at this, but it is not a high bar to pass for a film to manipulate me intro crying. It proved even more emotionally effective for others though. 'Did I finish the movie or did the movie finish me?' asked fan Agnes on X over My Oxford Year's traumatic conclusion. 'Thought I was signing up for a chill romantic movie with a few clichés. Instead, My Oxford Year wrecked me emotionally, stabbed me in the heart and walked away like nothing happened. That ending?? RUDE. Yeah. I'm not okay. Not even a little bit,' ranted user @_httpSea_, echoing a lot of the shocked reaction to the film. 'My Oxford Year is the biggest Trojan horse ever seen. I thought I was watching a silly romcom and I just got depressed with the ending of it,' tweeted @JENNIEDEMIE. 'Why did nobody warn me that it ended like that and why am I bawling over a movie I thought would be a cute and silly rom com,' complained Lily-Rose, while Mel shared: 'Netflix really thought the book My Oxford Year wasn't sad enough, so they proceed to change the ending to send us in therapy.' Critics have not been kind to My Oxford Year, with it sitting at a dismal 29% on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes at the time of publication. Collider criticised it for having the 'plot and character development out of a Wattpad novel written by a 15-year-old One Direction fan', while The New York Times called it 'a limp attempt at being this generation's About Time'. 'An uninspired yet competently assembled trifle,' mused The Guardian's two-star review, with critic Benjamin Lee saying the cancer twist will be 'met with a sigh of disappointment' for being so hackneyed. Other viewers agreed, with one saying it was 'pretty pointless' and another that it was 'worse than mediocre'. Noga E described it as 'a painful failure' in comparison to the book while Nina B complained: 'There's no spark, no soul – just two hours of hollow stares and fake chemistry.' 'It's as if A Walk to Remember and Me Before You had a very, very odd cousin that no one wants to hang out with,' added Teresita G. I knew what I was in for when the film mentioned how much it rains in the UK after barely a minute, and Carson began her narration as Anna by quoting poet Henry David Thoreau. Literature references are always the sign of an overly earnest film as you'd never catch a normal human going around quoting poetry, including out loud and at somebody (which also happens later in the film) to make a comparison, even if you were studying it at university (and I did). More Trending That sort of thing is far too intense and emotional, control yourself… which I guess may prove the film's point about British people being repressed and not wanting to talk about their feelings, which is what drives a wedge between Jamie and his father, played by Scott. So I'll give it that, I guess. My Oxford Year is streaming now on Netflix. Got a story? Love Island's Megan takes swipe at Shakira and Harry as she shares verdict on co-stars

Megan Forte Clarke, who was dumped from the villa by the public alongside Conor Phillips this week, has shared her thoughts on the remaining couples on Love Island Former Love Island star Megan Forte Clarke has shared her thoughts on the couples still in the villa following her departure. She was dumped in a public vote alongside Conor Phillips this week, just days ahead of the live final. ‌ Megan, 24, had originally been voted out of the villa earlier in the series but she recently returned. She then rekindled a romance with co-star Conor, 25, but they received the least votes in the latest poll and their exits aired last night. ‌ After leaving the villa for a second time, Megan gave her opinion on the remaining couples, including teasing that she didn't expect one of them to still be together. It comes after Top Gear host admitted he 'never got along' with Jeremy Clarkson as he made a bold statement. ‌ READ MORE: Shaughna Phillips reveals why Love Island's top couple won't last – and it makes sense Speaking to ITV, Megan said that it was a "shock" to see Harry Cooksley, 30, and Shakira Khan, 22, together. They are now coupled up once again after having been in a long-running love triangle with now-dumped Helena Ford, 29. Last week, shortly after Megan returned to the villa, Helena ended things with Harry, bringing the love triangle to a close too. In the same episode, he told Shakira that he was either leaving with her or without her, and he went on to choose her in the last recoupling. ‌ Asked if any couples had changed in the time between her first exit and her return, Megan said: "I don't think any couple has changed. I think Harry and Shakira being together was a shock for me but everyone is really genuine." Further sharing her opinion, Megan teased that she thinks the couples in the villa have potential for a long-term relationship. She said: "I definitely think all the other couples have long term potential, it all just makes sense." Megan however revealed that there's one couple in particular that she hopes wins Love Island. She named Yasmin Pettet, 24, and Jamie Rhodes, 26, as her choice as winners ahead of this series' live final taking place next week. ‌ Asked who she's rooting for on the show, Megan said following her departure this week: "I'm really rooting for Yasmin and Jamie this time round." Further discussing the couple, she added: "They balance each other out perfectly." Megan also revealed that she was feeling "much better" about leaving the villa with Conor compared to her first exit. She said: "I left on really good terms." She continued by saying: "It was a nice way to leave and I'm very happy." ‌ She added: "I took a big risk coming back because I could have easily been pied but I have gone out with what I came in for - everything happens for a reason." The islander also said that it was a "completely different experience". Megan said: "[It was] a lot more relaxing and a lot more lovey dovey. It was I think a completely different experience the second time round and it was a different villa to the first time when everyone was wife swapping." Love Island continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
