Ozzy Osbourne died of a heart attack, death certificate shows

CBS News6 days ago
Legendary Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne's cause of death was a heart attack, his death certificate shows. The heavy metal icon died on July 22 at age 76, at Harefield Hospital in the United Kingdom.
Other factors listed on the certificate, obtained by CBS News, were Parkinson's disease, which Osbourne was diagnosed with in 2020, and coronary artery disease.
Osbourne postponed all of his performances back in 2019 after falling at his home in Los Angeles, before sharing his Parkinson's diagnosis and announcing in 2023 that he would retire from touring.
He performed his final concert just a few weeks before his death with the original Black Sabbath lineup for what Osborne said would be his final concert.
The certificate, signed by his daughter, Aimee, listed her father's occupation as "Songwriter, Performer and Rock Legend."
Osbourne sprang onto the world stage with the release of Black Sabbath's 1969 self-titled debut LP — and never left. Osbourne was twice inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: once with Sabbath in 2006 and again in 2024 as a solo artist.
Many fans, however, know him as a sweet and silly father from his time on his hit reality show, "The Osbournes." The show, which aired from 2002 to 2005, followed the lives of Osbourne, his wife Sharon, and two of their three children as they went about their lives in their Beverly Hills mansion.
Fans of Osbourne paid their respects to the rock icon last week as a funeral procession made its way through Birmingham, England, the city where he had been born. Sharon Osborne, his wife of 43 years, and his three children joined the procession as fans turned out to honor the singer sometimes known as the Prince of Darkness.
Amanda Summers, a 37-year-old singer from Bolton, England, told Reuters that she was glad to be there with others who adored Osbourne.
"Been a Black Sabbath fan for a long time, watched 'The Osbournes' on the TV, so we've grown up with these being in our homes, so they're like our family, you know?" she said.Alex Sundby

Seth MacFarlane calls for less 'pessimistic' and 'dystopian' stories: 'It's so one-sided'

The 'Family Guy' creator discussed the need for more hopeful stories in Hollywood. Seth MacFarlane shared the need for more hopeful stories in Hollywood amid a plethora of dark projects released in recent years. MacFarlane sat down with Ted Danson on the Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast to discuss the importance of optimism and fun. The multi-hyphenate shared that he took on The Orville in order to put out something more positive in media. "The dishes that we are serving up are so dystopian and so pessimistic," MacFarlane said. "And yeah, there's a lot to be pessimistic about, but it's so one-sided." MacFarlane said while he enjoys shows like The Handmaid's Tale, he's become fatigued with dystopian narratives. The Family Guy creator noted that every time he drives down Beverly Boulevard, he only sees billboards for horror films and other "negative" projects. "They're certainly giving us a lot of cautionary tales, but where are the blueprints that they once gave us for how to do things correctly?" he said. "It can't all be just, 'Here's what's going to happen to you if you f--- up.' You do need, 'Here's what you can achieve if you change your ways and do things right.'" The actor added that Hollywood has become obsessed with anti-heroes "ever since Tony Soprano." This has created good television, he said, but in the case of a show like The White Lotus, "no one is someone you'd want to be." Part of the entertainment industry's job, MacFarlane said, is to create characters that inspire people to be better. "That's the only thing really that Hollywood can do that's worthwhile because as we all learned from this election, nobody gives a f--- what celebrities think," he said. "We can tweet, we can talk. Like, people don't care. They don't care. What we do do well is tell stories. And we're not doing the best job right now of telling those stories in a way that gives people hope." Justin Bieber Shares Carousel of Romantic Moments With Hailey Bieber

THE RUNDOWN On Sunday, Justin Bieber shared a carousel of photos that included romantic shots with his wife, Hailey Bieber, seemingly enjoying some time in the countryside—or at least on a gorgeous lawn. The collection opened with a selfie where Hailey is leaning on her husband's shoulder with a yellow flower in her hair. Justin is wearing a white tank top and a pair of wraparound sunglasses that reflected their feet and the view in front of them. There were also a few pictures of them laying out on blankets side-by-side and enjoying the green grass. Hailey wore a three-quarter sleeve white shirt and dark jeans, while Justin wore loose jean shorts and an electric yellow hoodie. They seemed to be wearing the same outfits in another picture where they're sharing a kiss. Hailey posted the carousel in her Instagram Stories, adding the song 'That's How Strong My Love Is' by Otis Redding. On Saturday, Justin shared three photos with their son, Jack Blues Bieber, who will be turning one on August 22. They are seated on a couch together and Jack is waving his feet towards the camera. A glimpse of his blonde hair is visible and in one photo Justin leans down to kiss him on the head. On Friday, Hailey and Justin went to Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica for a date night. The couple dressed up, with the Rhode founder saying she was in a black minidress of ruched fabric with a plunging neckline. Hailey wore the dress with black pointed-toe heels and carried a black handbag. She left her hair down and wore small silver earrings and sunglasses for accessories. Justin wore a large black leather coat, a bright blue hoodie, and wide-legged jeans, with a SKYLRK white beanie and sunglasses. Justin was seen holding the car door open for his wife before following her into the restaurant.

Selena Gomez Shares Photo With Benny Blanco at Gorgeous Wedding

THE RUNDOWN On Sunday, Selena Gomez shared new photos with Benny Blanco at the wedding of friends Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco. Blanco worked with Dave star Lil Dicky on his hit show and they are close friends. In the pictures, Gomez wore a sleeveless red halter dress with a mock turtle neckline. She had a fuzzy black coat as a cover-up which she allowed to slide off of her shoulders in a short video clip in which she dabbed on her new Rare Beauty parfum. Blanco wore a dark blue suit over a black button-down, open at the neck to reveal his layered gold necklaces. Gomez captioned her carousel of pictures from the ceremony and reception: 'About last nights wedding 💒' The star accessorized with chainlink earrings and wore her hair in a sleek updo. She had on a full glam makeup look by Jenna Nicole. The celebrity makeup artist posted shots of Gomez's makeup on her timeline on Sunday as well, showing off the smokey eye and red lip color that matched the Only Murders in the Building star's dress. Gomez shared another makeup look from Nicole in her Instagram Stories on Sunday in which she is wearing a black halter and has her hair down in flowing waves. In those selfies, she wore her marquise diamond engagement ring from Blanco. The couple has been engaged since December 2024. On August 7, in an episode of the podcast Therapuss with Jake Shane, Gomez shared that she and her fiancé first met when she was 16 to work on a project that never came through. 'I feel like he was an acquaintance, if that makes sense,' she said. 'To be honest, we weren't besties. I just thought he was nice, and then we did a few songs together.' But when they met yet again a few years ago, romance blossomed. Though Gomez said she 'couldn't be more excited,' the wedding is not happening anytime soon. 'There's so much happening at the moment,' she explained. 'He's working on some projects that he has to wrap up, and we just have things we want to finish and our own personal endeavors before we get into all the nitty-gritty. I just have really never felt so sure about something, and I also don't want to jinx it by saying that.'
