Tyson Fury insider drops boxing return hint as Gyspy King told how long he'll need to prepare for Anthony Joshua

Daily Record02-05-2025

Joseph Parker is in no doubt that Fury still has what it takes to compete at the top end of the heavyweight division
Joseph Parker believes Tyson Fury would only need 'six to eight weeks' to get himself back into the fighting shape required for a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua.
The two-time heavyweight world champion seemingly hung up his boxing gloves for good back in January following two consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk but earlier his week teased fans that a return to the ring is imminent.

Joshua is searching for an opponent later this year as he looks to bounce back from his devastating knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last September.

His promoter Eddie Hearn insists that they are more than willing to come to the table for the highly-anticipated heavyweight dust-up but has also stated that the onus is on Fury to make it happen.
And according to the Gypsy King's close pal and training partner Parker - a former WBO world champion himself - the 36-year-old would be back and ready to rock with Joshua in no time.
Speaking to Metro via CasinoHawks - who offer the latest UK casino sites, he said: "Tyson Fury has had the more recent fight over Anthony Joshua, therefore Joshua has been out longer.
"In my opinion, if they keep themselves fit – it shouldn't take that long to get you ready to fight.
"You have sparring, work with your coach, your road runs, pad work and that should take you between six to eight weeks.
"Tyson Fury has done everything there is to do in the sport. He has made a lot of money and is now spending a lot of quality time with his family.

'If he does want to return, he can. A lot of people would still like to see him fight.
"He is an entertainer and says a lot of things to get people's attention.

"If it's a fight with Joshua or Usyk, I'm sure a lot of people will be dying to see these fights.
Parker himself is hoping to land another crack at the world title and is desperate to fight the winner of the undisputed showdown between Usyk and Dubois at Wembley in July.
He added: "It's great to have these reports that tell you you're going to be the mandatory challenger.
"However, if we can expand on it and get something solid and locked in where I will be able to fight the winner it will be fantastic and a dream come true. I hope it can happen and come through.
"I would like to fight sometime soon and keep busy. I know every fight is a risk where you may win and may lose. I want to keep fighting, progressing and keep busy.
"Hopefully we can get a fight very soon so I can get into camp, keep progressing and keep the good flow going."

Boxer Claressa Shields sounds off after Angel Reese wins top BET honor

Shields' accolades over the past year include defeating Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse for the WBO light heavyweight and WBC heavyweight titles last July and then beating Danielle Perkins for the WBA heavyweight title in February. Reese won the award for the second consecutive year over a star-studded field of Shields, A'ja Wilson, Coco Gauff, Dawn Staley, Flau'jae Johnson, JuJu Watkins, Sha'Carri Richardson and Simone Biles. Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, did make it clear she supports Reese, but thought she was more deserving of the honor. "Ain't nobody saying Angel Reese don't have accolades or she not good.... I'm saying I thought the person with "THE MOST" accolades & accomplishments would win the Award," Shields posted, adding, "I'm team Angel Reese!" Shields attended the awards ceremony with her boyfriend, Brooklyn rapper Papoose. "For My First BET Nomination, I came how a Champion Should," she posted on Instagram, saying the couple enjoyed the full experience. As for the Sportsman of the Year award, it went to Super Bowl-winning quarterback Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles. He prevailed over a field that included Aaron Judge, Anthony Edwards, Deion Sanders, Jayson Tatum, LeBron James, Saquon Barkley and Stephen Curry.

2026 will probably be Anthony Joshua's final year in boxing

The 35-year-old former two-time heavyweight champion is yet to return to the ring after suffering a shock stoppage defeat in his IBF title fight against Daniel Dubois in September. Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn believes taking on long-term rival Tyson Fury is the one thing left for Joshua to do before hanging up his gloves. Eddie Hearn on Anthony Joshua potentially wrapping up his career: "2026 will probably be his last year in the sport. Thinking about it, it's probably 3 fights away. If I'm advising AJ, we're back this year, we have two Tyson Fury fights and what else is there to do? Maybe fight… — Ariel Helwani (@arielhelwani) June 10, 2025 'Probably 2026 will be his last year in the sport,' Hearn said on The Ariel Helwani Show. 'I mean you never know, but thinking about it, it's probably three fights away. If I'm advising AJ I'm thinking, 'We're back this year, two Tyson Fury fights, what else is there to do?'. 'He maybe could fight a Daniel Dubois, but I think for me, once AJ fights a Tyson Fury, he's kind of done it all. 'I'd love him to have another crack at Dubois, I'd love him to have another crack at (Oleksandr) Usyk. If we get to 2026 and he's firing on all cylinders then 2026 won't be his last year. 'But for me, something feels right about beating Tyson Fury twice and then sailing off into the sunset.'
