These projects are related to roads, bridges, flyovers, bypasses, inter-connectivity projects, missing links, single connectivity corridors, development of religious sites and improvements in logistics and public safety.
Among these six districts, Kanpur district leads with 426 proposed projects worth ₹5,006 crore, followed by 308 projects in Farrukhabad ( ₹2,476 crore), 336 in Kanpur Dehat ( ₹1,214 crore), 98 in Kannauj ( ₹1,076 crore), 128 in Etawah ( ₹620 crore), and 66 projects in Auraiya ( ₹524 crore).
Presiding over the meeting, Yogi directed officials to approve priority projects without delay, implement them transparently and ensure their timely completion through regular monitoring. He also instructed the urban development department to ensure that the names of local public representatives are inscribed on the foundation plaques of the projects undertaken in their areas.
As part of the ongoing 'Mandalvaar Samvad' series initiated by the CM, representatives from six districts—Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Etawah, and Auraiya—were invited to participate in the meeting.
Yogi Adityanath engaged with each MP and MLA, seeking detailed insights on the ground realities of their constituencies, local expectations, progress of developmental projects, and coordination with the administration.
He underlined the pivotal role of the Kanpur division in the balanced and sustainable development of Uttar Pradesh. The division, he noted, is not only the industrial and educational hub of the state but also a centre of cultural richness, historical depth, and active public leadership.
Reiterating the importance of elected representatives, the CM stated that they are the most dependable bridge between the government and the people. Their insights and suggestions should not be limited to documentation but should be integrated into the design and implementation of government schemes, he added.
Yogi urged officials to treat experiences and feedback of public representatives as living inputs for policy formulation. Describing Kanpur division as a 'pioneer of development', the CM expressed confidence that it will soon emerge as a model for not just Uttar Pradesh but for the entire country.

Uttar Pradesh secures ₹12,031 crore under PMAY-Urban 2.0

LUCKNOW: In a major push towards ' Housing for All ', the Uttar Pradesh government has secured financial approval of Rs 12,031 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission 2.0 to provide pucca houses to the urban poor, according to a statement released on Saturday. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure transparency and quality in construction, the statement said. Following this, geo-tagging and photographic documentation of each house will be mandatory under PMAY (Urban), enabling real-time monitoring at every stage of construction. All houses will also be equipped with disaster-resilient features to safeguard against earthquakes, floods, and other calamities, making safety an integral component of the scheme, it said. The cost of construction under the scheme is being shared between the Centre and the state government in a 60:40 ratio. Each eligible beneficiary will receive Rs 2.5 lakh in assistance to build a permanent (pucca) house. Launched on September 1, 2024, the PMAY (Urban) Mission 2.0 aims to ensure pucca houses for all families by the set deadline. The scheme is being closely monitored by officials at both the state and district levels to guarantee timely and quality construction. The initiative not only provides social security to the urban poor but also promotes integrated urban development across Uttar Pradesh, the statement added.

Public reps most trusted link between govt, people: Yogi

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that public representatives are the most trusted link between the people and the govt and their ideas and suggestions should be actively incorporated in policy planning and implementation. Holding a special dialogue with MLAs from Kanpur division at his official residence here on Sunday, the CM reviewed 1,362 proposed infrastructure projects worth Rs 10,914 crore and said that priorities should be set in consultation with public representatives to ensure swift and people-centric service delivery. Public representatives from six districts — Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Etawah, and Auraiya — were invited to participate in the session. "Ideas and suggestions of public representatives are not merely means of dialogue but also reflect public aspirations, which should be actively incorporated in policy planning and implementation," the CM said. He asked officials not to treat the experiences and regional insights of legislators as merely documentary inputs, but to use them as a living basis for policymaking. The CM directed the public works department (PWD) to set priorities for proposed work in consultation with local representatives and ensure timely commencement of projects. He described the initiatives not merely as govt expenditure but as "capital of public trust". The CM asked officials to ensure prompt approval and execution of projects prioritised by public representatives. He asked the urban development department officials to ensure that the names of local public representatives were included on foundation stones and plaques related to urban development work. Yogi also sought feedback on the ground realities, public expectations, progress of development work, and administrative coordination in their respective constituencies. "Kanpur division holds a vital place in the balanced and sustainable development of the state. It is not only the industrial and educational backbone of the state, but also a centre of cultural diversity, historical awareness, and political commitment of public representatives," Yogi said. Describing the Kanpur division as a "pioneer of development", Yogi expressed confidence that it would soon emerge as a model for not just Uttar Pradesh but for the entire country. Kanpur city is set to be gifted with 426 projects worth Rs 5,006 crore, followed by Farrukhabad (308 projects worth Rs 2,476 crore), Kanpur Dehat (336 projects worth Rs 1,214 crore), Kannauj (98 projects worth Rs 1,076 crore), Etawah (128 projects worth Rs 620 crore), and Auraiya (66 projects worth Rs 524 crore).

SP MP demands rollback of school merger

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party MP from Machhlishahr Priya Saroj has written to the Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan demanding review of the policy of 'integration of schools' in Uttar Pradesh and cancellation of the merger process. In her letter, Saroj said that the policy of integration of schools was being followed in Uttar Pradesh, which seems to be against the basic spirit of the Right to Education Act (RTE Act). "Under RTE Act, there is a provision that every child between the age of 6 to 14 years should be provided free and compulsory education within one kilometre of the nearest primary school from residence. If no school is available within a radius of one kilometre, then it is the responsibility of the govt to ensure admission of the child in the nearest school," she said. She said the current policy of the UP govt was violating the spirit of the Act. "This is hindering access to school for many children, leading more dropouts. Jobs of 2.5 lakh teachers and school staff of UP are also at risk," she said.
