Mob-tied hockey boss returns to the rink: ‘Intimidation never goes out of style'
AJ Galante, the teenager behind the mob-tied pro hockey team of Netflix fame, is back in the game as the general manager of the Danbury Hat Tricks, an entry-level pro team based in Connecticut.
'I believe there's still a place in the game for toughness,' Galante, 38, told The Post.

'Intimidation never goes out of style, man, and you when you have that you have that X factor.'
In 2021, the story of how Galante's father, Jimmy, inserted his son as the general manager of the Danbury Trashers, named after the family's garbage-hauling business, became the stuff of Netflix gold.
The film recounts how Trashers players were treated like big league stars and were even given 'no-show jobs' and under-the-table money — until the FBI started digging through the garbage.
In June 2008, Galante Sr. admitted to charges of racketeering, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and defrauding the Internal Revenue Service.
He was also forced to forfeit interest in 25 different garbage-related businesses, estimated to be worth more than $100 million.
3 Galante is now the General Manager of the Danbury Hat Tricks, a professional hockey team based in Danbury, Connecticut.

Galante Sr. was released in 2014 after serving a seven-year sentence.
'It was a sad day when the Trashers folded, but the legacy still lives on, and I'm excited to build on that history with the Hat Tricks,' said the younger Galante, now a married father of two.
Following the release of the Netflix film, demand grew for Danbury Trashers jerseys, with even rappers like Drake and Fabolous spotted wearing the team's sweater, which features demonic eyes peeking out of a trash can.

Since then, Galante has run a Danbury boxing gym, helped develop a UFC-style hockey fight circuit called Ice Wars, and most recently served as the Hat Tricks' senior advisor to the previous general manager.
The Hat Tricks, who are members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League, open their season on Oct.10 at Danbury Arena.
'It's going to be the 20 years later movie sequel,' said Galante.
'I'm giving it my all.'
While Galante won't shy away from the on-ice toughness that made the Danbury Trashers famous, he says he wants to focus on winning.
'I know what the fans here are starving for, and we want to bring the toughness back,' Galante says.
'At the same time, if we're not winning, it means nothing.'

Brendan Allen 'over and done with' Marvin Vettori beef after UFC 318 win
Brendan Allen has no interest in continuing to beef with Marvin Vettori. NEW ORLEANS – It looks like the rivalry between Brendan Allen and Marvin Vettori has come to an end, at least for one party. Allen (25-7 MMA, 13-4 UFC) and Vettori (19-8-1 MMA, 9-7-1 UFC) had plenty of bad blood heading into their middleweight bout at Saturday's UFC 318, which took place at Smoothie King Center. The two had gone back and forth in trash talk, and had even gotten into a brawl on the casino floor of the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Fla., prior to locking horns in a professional context. Allen, who defeated Vettori by unanimous decision, wants to move past their feud – but he isn't too sure the feeling is mutual. "I just told him, our problems aside, that my heart goes out to him and his family," Allen revealed what he told Vettori after thir bout. "My brother had his accident and he totally lost his brother, so I can't imagine the pain it feels to fully lose your brother. I didn't lose mine, fully, but it still hurts. His coaches started talking sh*t and told me to get the f*ck out of his face. It's just people sticking their nose between two grown men. I don't have any bad blood with him. He can say whatever he wants before and after, that's on him. He's a grown man. I'm a grown man with kids. It's just business to me. We fought. It is what it is. I think I totally won, if you don't, which he probably won't, yeah, for me, it's over and done with." With this result, Allen was able to snap a two-fight losing skid and get back in the win column. He's open to take on any top contender next, and wants to work his way back to title contention. "There's still so many fights that can come," Allen said. "We'll see what happens with the UFC, what they want from me. (Jared) Cannonier. MVP (Michael Page), Roman (Dolidze), Fluffy (Anthony Hernandez) – which is Fluffy wins he's going to continue going up, obviously. He just beat me in that decision. You have Caio (Borralho), (Nassourdine) Imavov, Sean Strickland is still sitting out there. You have a lot of fights. I don't know. We'll see what the UFC wants and what's next."

Elon Musk now wants you to eat at a Tesla Diner, and it opens today
What's happened? Elon Musk, Tesla CEO and owner of X, has taken to his social media platform to show off a new restaurant concept in Hollywood, California which he says will be 'an island of good food, good vibes & entertainment, all while Supercharging.' What's Musk said? Things kicked off on July 20 when Musk re-posted a short video clip showing a drone shot of the Tesla diner at 7001 Santa Monica Blvd, Hollywood, California. Recommended Videos The futuristic-looking building appears to have al-fresco seating on its roof and two huge screens in its parking lot, which itself is lined with Tesla superchargers. Musk followed up the teaser video on July 21, with a more information – confirming that the 'retro futuristic diner' has the potential to expand to cities around the world if the initial location proves popular. If our retro-futuristic diner turns out well, which I think it will, @Tesla will establish these in major cities around the world, as well as at Supercharger sites on long distance routes. An island of good food, good vibes & entertainment, all while Supercharging! — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 21, 2025 This is important because: Today, July 21, is opening day for the Tesla Diner – the first of its kind dining and charging location from an auto manufacturer. It potentially sets a blueprint for future charging locations, not only from Tesla, but possibly the wider EV market. The diner has been at least four years in the making, as we first reported on trademark filings for a Tesla restaurant back in 2021. The auto maker had to wait until 2023 before the City of LA granted approval for the first diner to be built, and two years on it's finally ready to open its doors. According to Sawyer Merritt, the Tesla Diner features two 45-foot LED movie screens for patrons to enjoy a drive-in movie, 80 Tesla Superchargers (V4), and a menu which includes burgers, wings, hot dogs, fries, milkshakes and more. Why should I care? Tesla has invested heavily in the EV charging ecosystem, with 30,000 superchargers across 2,500 locations stretching through all 50 states. Yet, range anxiety and worries over charger availability remain for both current EV owners and those considering the switch. Continued investment in charging locations, not only by increasing the number of charges available, but by also creating spaces which are enjoyable to spend 20 to 30 minutes of your day, is only a positive thing for EV owners. The arrival of the Tesla Diner also introduces some new in-car features for Tesla owners too. Drive up to the restaurant and you'll be able to sync the audio and video from the giant screens to the speakers and screens in your Tesla. Plus you'll be able to order your food directly from your Tesla's infotainment display. Ok, so what's next? As Musk suggested in his post, depending on how the Tesla Diner performs, the company might look to roll out the concept to more countries around the world.
