Dolby Laboratories announced the launch of India's first Dolby Cinema at City Pride multiplex in Kharadi, Pune on July 3, 2025.
Dolby Cinema is a state of the art, premium movie-going experience where viewers are treated to cinema in a highly immersive & distraction-free environment. Pune's City Pride Multiplex is the first of many that Dolby will gradually roll out all over India. Talks are already going on to bring similar experiences to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Trichy, Kochi & Ulikal next.
Dolby Cinema is the combination of Dolby's proprietary audio & visual technologies, Dolby Atmos & Dolby Vision. Dolby Atmos is Dolby's premium audio technology whereby creators and filmmakers can treat audio sources in their scene as objects around the viewer & place them spatially, thereby allowing a level of creative flexibility that makes their content sonically immersive.
Dolby Vision unlocks the full potential of HDR technology by dynamically optimizing the image quality based on the user's service, device, and platform to deliver mesmerizing visuals every time. In a Dolby Vision optimised theatre, viewers are treated to dual 4K Laser Projection systems that offer individual pixel-level clarity, extended dynamic range with billions of colours and an almost infinite contrast range with true blacks and true whites becoming easily distinguishable in the same frame, thereby allowing darker scenes to come alive and feel as close to real life as artistically possible.
At the City Pride auditorium in Kharadi, Pune, these two technologies come together with the help of Dolby's Design aesthetics to turn a 310-seater hall into an experience. The auditorium is completely treated in black with blue guiding lights, so all eyes automatically focus on the screen. Black cloth interiors also absorb all light spills so there are no hot zones visible inside the theater and with all the speakers hidden as well, one soon loses oneself to the story being told on the screen, guided by the creator.

Dolby Cinemas at Kharadi, Pune is open to public starting July 4 with titles like Jurassic World Rebirth that are already generating great buzz amongst moviegoers, adding to the list of over 740 theatrical features confirmed to be released in Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos globally.

The sci-fi Hollywood biggie debuted with a bang at the Indian box office, thanks to the franchise's brand value and popularity among the cine-goers. Jurassic World Rebirth debuts with Rs 9.50 crore Directed by Gareth Edwards, Jurassic World Rebirth took a strong opening in India. The movie scored over Rs 9.50 crore net on its opening day, despite facing a Hindi release- Metro…In Dino. The movie emerged as the highest opener of the franchise, surpassing its previous installment, Jurassic World Dominion, which had opened with Rs 8.15 crore net, excluding paid previews. The 2022-released movie had scored Rs 11 crore, including its preview earnings. Jurassic World Rebirth targets Rs 35 crore weekend Starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Gracia-Rulfo, and Ed Skrein, the movie opened with positive reviews among the audience and the critics. Here's How Jurassic World: Rebirth Was Supposed to End, Were Scarlett Johansson or Jonathan Bailey Going to Die?
In Jurassic World: Rebirth, Mahershala Ali's character, Duncan Kincaid, beats the odds and survives a terrifying encounter with the deadly Distortus rex. But fans may be surprised to learn that Duncan was not always meant to live through the film's finale. Director Gareth Edwards told USA Today that Duncan's heroic moment was initially planned as his last. 'My first gut feeling was to kill him, and that's what I tried to do,' Edwards said. Even Ali agreed with that direction at first. Studio pushed for a happy ending According to screenwriter David Koepp, early drafts of the Jurassic World Rebirth script had Duncan dying much earlier. Edwards added, 'The director's cut had him dying, and I played it to the studio, and they said, 'Is there any version where we could just see him living?'' At first, Edwards was hesitant. But he created a new version where Duncan survives. He admitted, 'Because it's written and filmed for him to die, all the little tropes and subconscious things you would do to set that up are happening in the movie.' This twist made Duncan's survival a surprise for the audience. Edwards said he was moved when he watched the film with a crowd and heard them cheer as Duncan's flare went up. He added that it was one of those times when the studio's suggestion turned out to be right. Here's why the change made sense David Koepp supported the change, too. He stated, 'Duncan became a bigger part and a more interesting character, and we have a fantastic actor playing him, so killing him 90 seconds before the end of the movie would not have made a lot of sense.' In the final Jurassic World Rebirth cut, Duncan draws the mutant Distortus rex away so that Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey), and the Delgado family can escape. It appears he sacrifices himself, but he survives and signals his group with a flare before joining Zora and Henry on the boat. No 'rex machina' ending this time Unlike past Jurassic films, the Distortus rex does not get killed in Jurassic World Rebirth. Edwards said he considered bringing back the iconic T. rex for a final fight and wondered if that was something they should do. However, the visual effects supervisor talked him out of it, reminding him that in all the previous movies, the T. rex always turns up to save the day and audiences expect that. Edwards referred to this typical twist as 'rex machina' and decided to leave it out, saying that skipping it was one way to make Rebirth different.
