Joe Morgan's acrobatic 48-yard touchdown catch is the Saints Play of the Day
Look up -- we're on Day 48 in our countdown to the New Orleans Saints' 20205 regular season opener, and today's pick for the Saints Play of the Day is easy. Joe Morgan shocked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with this leaping 48-yard touchdown catch back in 2014. You can see it for yourself right here. It had been a rough year for New Orleans. The Saints went into this game with a 1-4 record and were trailing by seven points going into halftime. So they took a bold shot; Drew Brees faked a handoff on a play-action pass, and Marques Colston and Lance Moore drew the coverage there way, freeing up Morgan. He had to adjust to an underthrown ball from Brees but that allowed him to duck under a defender's tackle. Then he flipped another Buccaneer off their feet and took a hit from a third Bucs defender while diving into the end zone. This is the kind of acrobatics you normally just see at the circus, but Morgan pulled it off on the football field. He only caught 10 passes in that 2012 season but he made the most of them. Morgan averaged 37.9 yards per reception that year, scoring three times. That turned out to be unsustainable in the long run, but it made for a great highlight reel. And it earned him a place in Saints history.

NFL Top 100: 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey No. 73, will face Cardinals twice in 2025
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is No. 73 in 'NFL Top 100' and will face the Cardinals twice in 2025. Last week, the NFL had its third week of revealing players in the "NFL Top 100." After two players were revealed on Monday and another on Tuesday the Arizona Cardinals will face in 2025, a fourth was revealed later in the week, one who will see the Cardinals twice in 2025. That would be San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey. Despite playing in four games last season, he was still ranked No. 73 after being the No. 3 player in the top 100 in 2024. Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Zack Baun recalled how bad a game he had against McCaffrey years ago. "He's a tough tackle," he said, recalling how he missed three or four tackles against McCaffrey in that game. It made him question whether he could cut it as a full-time defensive player. Eagles running back Saquon Barkley said, "you have to account for him in so many ways, physical and pass pro. He can run routes like a receiver." McCaffrey's quarterback, Brock Purdy, called him "Mr. Do-it-all." He only had 202 yards in four games last season, but he has been a Cardinals killer. In seven career games against the Cardinals, he is 6-1 against them and has 580 rushing yards and five touchdowns, and he has caught 44 passes for 426 yards and another five scores. That is 1,006 total yards and 10 total touchdowns. The Cardinals face the 49ers in Week 3 and Week 11. 'NFL Top 100' opponents for Cardinals in 2025 Of the 30 players in the top 100 revealed as of the end of last week, the Cardinals face the following: Get more Cardinals and NFL coverage from Cards Wire's Jess Root and others by listening to the latest on the Rise Up, See Red podcast.
