Passengers pin down man who tries to open plane door mid-flight
A passenger was held back from trying to open plane doors mid-flight.
Footage shows flight attendants and passengers on the London Gatwick flight from the Dominican Republic restraining the man on June 29.
Oore Fabunmi, 25, said she was sat behind the man when he suddenly stood up and ran toward the front of the aircraft.
Screams erupted from throughout the cabin as he tried to pry open the doors.
Passengers stepped in to pin the man down before TUI airline staff stepped in to detain him.
He remained sat with staff for the rest of the flight and was escorted off the plane by police officers upon landing in London.
Oore, a hearings officer from south London, said: 'It was pretty scary at first.
'I remember just seeing him leave the row in front of me and run forward.
'Next thing I heard was just screams coming from the front.
'My first thought was that we were being hijacked and we might die – like in the movies.'
Oore said she interacted with the man at the beginning of the flight as she helped him find the correct seat.
Oore said: 'I had chatted to him earlier in the journey. I got onto the plane with some friends I'd made on the holiday and he was actually sitting in one of their seats.
'They asked him to move and he seemed confused about his ticket so I helped him find his seat.
'He seemed alright after that until he started getting agitated halfway through the flight.'
But four hours into the eight hour flight, Oore said the man began to grow restless.
She said: 'He stood up on his seat, which I obviously thought was strange and then he just ran to the doors.'
Passengers intervened and tried to pin the man down before airline staff stepped in to detain him.

'He did not seem mentally well. I remember him muttering something about his wife being on a cruise, both at his seat and later by the door.
'But outside of that, I have no idea why he did what he did.'
The man remained sat for the rest of the journey and passengers were asked to remain seated after landing while police came aboard to escort him off.

Somali intelligence allegedly revealed that 'in 2023, she tried to leave Somalia to go to Yemen or Kenya, but al-Shabaab failed to find her a safe route, so had to stay in Somalia'. "The British woman helps recruit foreign fighters, especially women. She gets protection from her husband as he is high up in al-Shabaab. She speaks Somali and Arabic.' An al-Shabaab source said Lewthwaite was 'highly regarded and respected' within the terror group. He also told MailOnline: 'She lives in several houses located in different areas. She does not move during the day but only at night and is highly protected by heavily armed elite Amniyat close protection security guards, which also includes women guards. 'The white woman also always carries a pistol and sometimes a rifle for her protection. ''She does not stay in one location for long with her husband; they move around a lot." Lewthwaite was born and spent much of her childhood in Banbridge, before moving to Aylesbury and later converting to Islam. In Kenya, she is alleged to have posed as a Northern Irish charity worker to conceal her identity. She was reportedly using Italian documents and claimed she was working for a charity called Friends of Africa, based in Newry. The charity confirmed it had no knowledge of such a person. Her story is now being turned to film, with Lewthwaite set to be portrayed by Game of Thrones and The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey.

Newport thug pleads guilty to flashing and assaulting PCs
Thug Wesley Davies, 34, from Newport, who has 83 previous convictions for 164 offences, committed the offences after being released from prison for a serious assault. He was jailed for 13 months in May last year for splitting a nurse's head wide open with a single punch. Davies' latest offences were committed on July 11 and July 12 in Newport and Cwmbran. He admitted assaulting a police officer, exposure, assault by beating and damaging a Gwent Police vehicle. The defendant was remanded in custody at Newport Magistrates' Court and is due to be sentenced on July 30. Davies was locked up last year for attacking Kevin Randall. The victim had been out with family and friends watching the British and Irish Lions rugby Test match against South Africa. He punched the consultant emergency nurse outside the Esso petrol station on Cardiff's Newport Road at around 9pm on Saturday, July 31, 2021. An argument had broken out between the strangers after the groups Mr Randall and Davies were with had rowed over a taxi. Matthew Comer, prosecuting, said: 'The victim's head hit the floor and he was knocked unconscious.' CCTV footage capturing the assault was played to the judge, Recorder David Warner. He said to Davies: 'You joined in and took up a provocative position before I accept returning to the taxi. 'There's then a further exchange of words, we can see that between the female members of your group, and then you got back out of the taxi, went straight up to Mr Randall and punched him. 'You punched him so hard that he fell unconscious on the floor with the back of his head split wide open. 'The offence to which you have pleaded guilty is a cowardly and unpleasant one with significant consequences for your victim.' Mr Randall was taken to the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff in an ambulance and 21 surgical staples were needed to close the deep wound. In a victim personal statement he revealed how he suffers from ongoing 'memory loss and psychological harm'. He was off work for four weeks as a result of his injury and had to miss a family holiday. 'I'm aware that the attack that night could easily have killed me,' Mr Randall said. Davies pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm. Assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a machete in public are among his previous convictions. Joshua Scouller said in mitigation: 'He regrets enormously the injury that he caused. 'The defendant is a man who has had problems with alcohol and has sought to become sober.' Toddler found dead on popular Greek tourist beach by horrified passer-by
A young girl was found dead on a beach near the Greek capital of Athens early on Sunday - and authorities are now carrying out investigations to determine what happened to her. A toddler has tragically been found dead on a popular tourist beach in Greece by a horrified passerby. The child, believed to be around two or three years old, was discovered on Eden Beach in Paleo Faliro, near Athens, in the early hours of July 27. Local reports say a man, from Egypt, spotted the girl's body on the shore and called the emergency services. Authorities rushed to the scene, where they located the child, who hasn't been identified so far. Her body was transported to the Agia Sofia Children's Hospital via ambulance, where doctors pronounced her dead. An autopsy will be carried out to determine the girl's cause of death, authorities have said. Greek newspaper Protothema reported that the child was wearing a full-zip bathing suit and was not wearing armbands when she was found. The publication added that there were no obvious signs of abuse on the girl. No child matching her characteristics has been reported missing in the area. Last week, a British tourist was tragically found dead on his sun lounger on a popular Greek beach after reportedly becoming unwell. The 74-year-old was discovered unconscious on Stalis Beach on the isle of Crete by other people at the resort at around 12pm on Sunday, July 20. Emergency services rushed to the scene and made a desperate bid to revive the man, but unfortunately their efforts proved unsuccessful. It is understood that he had first gone for a swim before returning to the sun lounger and there are reports he had a "strong feeling" of sickness shortly before his death. Paramedics from Hellenic National Center of Emergency Care (EKAB) treated the man at the scene and no cause of death has yet been given by the Greek authorities. An autopsy was due to be carried out, reported It comes after several tragic beach deaths over the last few months involving British citizens on holiday. A 73-year-old man was found dead on a beach in Agia Paraskevi, Skiathos, in Greece. And a 68-year-old lost his life after going swimming and losing consciousness on June 12.
