Serial killer inmate Levi Bellfield given weekly fry-ups and video game time
The 57-year-old was jailed in 2011 for murdering 13-year-old Milly Dowler, 19-year-old Marsha McDonnell and 22-year-old Amelie Delagrange between 2002 and 2003.
The only prisoner in the UK to be handed two whole-life tariffs, he was also convicted of attempting to murder Kate Sheedy in 2004.
He has been made an 'enhanced prisoner' at HMP Frankland, meaning he can have a cooked breakfast every Saturday, access to an Xbox games console, according to MailOnline.
He also gets an extra £13.20 a week to spend on snacks at the canteen inside the Category A prison.
Staff at the prison are said to be disgruntled about Bellfield's privileges.
A source told the outlet: 'They don't call it Monster Mansion for nothing; we are used to the worst of the worst here.
'Bellfield isn't a problem on the unit, but it just doesn't feel quite right that a man in for his crimes should be playing Xbox computer games.
'Those on a whole-life order should get the bare minimum, but unfortunately as officers our hands are tied.'
Inmates are not allowed to play violent video games but can play other games such as sports titles.
Bellfield converted to Islam while in prison, now using the name Yusuf Rahim.
Last year he made an application to get married, later withdrawing it and submitting one for a civil partnership. More Trending
It's understood the request was denied, though the killer also attempted to secure legal aid to appeal the decision.
In 2023 he reportedly wrote and signed a confession to killing 19-year-old Vietnamese student Elizabeth Chau, but detectives later concluded he was lying.
Other inmates at HMP Frankland are Wayne Couzens, who killed Sarah Everard, and Soham child killer Ian Huntley.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice said: 'Having received two whole-life orders, Bellfield will rightly spend the rest of his life in jail.'

Search for missing ‘body' in river turns up life-size sex doll
A three-hour search for a missing body in an Idaho river ended with authorities pulling out a life-size silicon sex doll. The frantic effort to recover a human body from Blackfoot River began on Thursday morning after someone reported seeing one floating roughly 16 miles northeast of Soda Springs, according to Caribou County Sheriff Adam Mabey. Deputies deployed drones and divers went into the water around 12.30pm when they spotted the 'body'. The person responsible for putting the doll in the water would face littering charges. But the sheriff doubts they will be able to find out who did it. Despite putting resources into the false alarm situation, Mabey does not regret their response. 'Rather go all out and make sure we did everything properly at a scene,' he told the news outlet, 'Than to rush in and do something and find out we should've done something more.' The sheriff added that 'this whole story has generated a lot of jokes and stories and really interesting Facebook comments'. 'I was hoping it'd blow over and no one would ever hear about it,' Maybe said. 'But I can also see it's an interesting story.' The weird incident happened just over a year after a funeral worker allegedly tried to smuggle a life-size sex doll out of a dead man's home in a body bag. The worker and his colleague went to the Rock Creek Apartments in Omaha, Nebraska, to collect the corpse and found 'a very real life size version of an adult female' next to a bed, according to a Sarpy County Sheriff's deputy. Later that day in June 2024, the worker apparently returned later with a bag and said he came on behalf of the sheriff's office to recover the 'sex doll' for 'evidentiary purposes'. Prison bosses make room for possible influx amid planned protests across England
Prison bosses will make room for a possible influx of arrested demonstrators this weekend amid concerns that some jails are close to full, the head of the national governors' body has revealed. The police have threatened to arrest hundreds of supporters of the banned group Palestine Action, who plan to protest in London this weekend. There are also at least eight planned demonstrations outside hotels housing asylum seekers. The Ministry of Justice confirmed that it has initiated 'capacity gold command' as it attempts to manage the use of individual prison cells, with jails across England and Wales 97.5% full. Capacity gold command is initiated when the number of prisoners across the estate reaches critical levels. It allows an appointed gold commander to monitor every out-of-use cell, direct moves into and out of prisons and maximise the use of open prisons and home detention curfews. Government sources said the justice department has re-examined the possibility of launching Operation Early Dawn, which would allow defendants to be held in police cells until prison beds became available and could mean their court dates are delayed or adjourned at short notice. Tom Wheatley, the president of the Prison Governors' Association, said he is concerned about the impact on prisons of possible public order events after the riots in 2024 after the Southport murders. He added: 'Any spike in the numbers of people remanded in custody will have an impact on prisons. HMPPS HQ is again operating 'capacity gold command' arrangements to direct governors to move prisoners to ensure capacity is available. Governors in reception prisons will be directed to move prisoners over the weekend in order to create space. 'This will mean sometimes moving prisoners long distances to prisons that have room to create it in those that don't. This is far from ideal in that resettling prisoners from prisons a long way from where they are going to live on release is difficult logistically and less likely to be successful.' Sources said capacity gold command was activated in February 2023 and ended in September 2024, when the Shabana Mahmood, the justice secretary and lord chancellor, initiated an early release scheme. Because of overcrowding, a source said it was reactivated in March this year so that senior officials and ministers are informed about individual cell space. A protest against the ban on Palestine Action will go ahead in London on Saturday, organisers have confirmed, despite the police saying they will carry out mass detentions. Defend Our Juries, a pressure group campaigning to lift the ban on Palestine Action under terrorism laws, said on Tuesday that more than 500 people had committed to holding up signs reading 'I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action', as part of the protest. The group said the event would go ahead as planned after the 'conditional commitment requirement' had been reached. More than 200 people have been arrested in response to the proscription of the group last month. The location of Saturday's protest has not been made known. The Metropolitan police made clear the force would arrest anyone breaking terrorism laws, as Downing Street urged people not to attend any protest. The demonstration has been organised to protest against the decision by the home secretary, Yvette Cooper, to ban the organisation last month after activists caused what police said was £7m of damage to jets at RAF Brize Norton. Police are braced for further protests and disorder across the UK, as anti-migrant demonstrations continue outside hotels housing asylum-seekers. At least four protests have been organised for the upcoming week in locations such as Bournemouth, Southampton and Portsmouth, with tensions rising further after clashes over the weekend. Far-right groups also plan to protest outside at least eight migrant hotels on Friday as part of a 'no asylum day' of action. A Ministry of Justice spokesperson said: 'Capacity gold has been used for many months in the management of capacity pressure in the prison estate. 'The swift and coordinated response to last year's unrest shows the criminal justice system is prepared to act quickly if needed to maintain stability and keep the public safe.'

Jay Blades appears in court on coercive control charge
Former The Repair Shop presenter Jay Blades has appeared in court on a charge of controlling or coercive behaviour. The TV host, 55, was in Worcester Crown Court via a video link for a preliminary hearing a day after he was separately charged with two counts of rape. He was charged last September with a single count of 'controlling and coercive behaviour' towards his estranged wife, Lisa Marie Zbozen, between January 1, 2023, and September 12, 2024. Blades has denied the charges and is also due in Telford's magistrates' court on August 13 for the rape charges. He fronted the popular BBC show for seven years before stepping back in 2024, soon after he split from his wife. Blades' wife, Lisa Marie, shared on social media that their marriage was over after 18 months. In her message, she said that she felt 'incredibly sad about the whole thing', adding: 'I don't think I've ever cried so much'.
