Orlando Pirates whispers: Kekana, Makhaula, Mofokeng, Benni McCarthy

Today's Orlando Pirates rumour wrap involves the likes of Hlompho Kekana, Benni McCarthy and some big opinions on Makhehlene Makhaula and Rele Mofokeng.
Hlompho Kekana is a huge fan of Makhehlene Makhaula's industry in midfield for the Sea Robbers.
'This is my Player for the Season [Makhehleni Makhaula],' said Kekana on SABC Sport's Soccer Zone.

Hlompho Kekana was a combative and explosive character on the pitch, but off it, he's as humble as they come. Regarded by his teammates as a model professional and example, he took care of his body and was fit as a fiddle even at the ripe age of 36. His devotion to a healthy diet didn't do him any harm either.
The retired midfield general remains popular with journalists, too, having always made himself available for calls and interviews. In the aftermath of Sundowns' tenth ABSA Premiership title win, a triumph that completed a fabled 'La Decima', Kekana was effusive when praising his teammates. Those men fought alongside him to snatch the title on the very final day. Kekana was truly a team-oriented man.

'Joining the institution at 12 to 25, this club has been my everything. I've grown as a player, but more importantly, as a person. Rulani: ‘I probably good enough to coach Orlando Pirates'

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates coach Rulani Mokwena is home in Mzansi after leaving Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca. Naturally, the two-time Betway Premiership champion has been linked with Orlando Pirates, who are coachless after Jose Riveiro's departure to Al Ahly. While the Buccaneers are yet to name Riveiro's successor, Mokwena remains heavily linked with the Sea Robbers. Percy Tau sends a message to Chiefs and Sundowns Speaking to Robert Marawa on 947, Mokwena was asked if he had gained relevant experience to return to coaching the Buccaneers. Mokwena said, 'When I coached Orlando Pirates, most of the feeling was that I had potential. There was a strong connotation from a family perspective. But now the connection is not so much from a family perspective. Rulani Mokwena and the Orlando Pirates chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza. Ex-Sundowns and Pirates coach bags Uefa Pro License!

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Venda Football Academy coach Michael Loftman has acquired his Uefa Pro License. Loftman has been away from the limelight of South African football since leaving Sundowns where he worked with Rulani Mokwena. But prior to his move to Sundowns, Loftman had worked at Orlando Pirates as a Performance Analyst. He also had a stint with the Egypt national team as a coach/analyst when former Bafana Bafana mentor Carlos Quieroz was there. Now, it appears Loftman has used his time away from the limelight wisely as he is now a Uefa Pro License holder. This means the London-born mentor can coach anywhere in the world, including in Europe's big five leagues. Michael Loftman while at Mamelodi Sundowns Image via @MamelodiSundowns on X 'Very grateful to share that I've officially graduated from the Uefa Pro License,' said Loftman on LinkedIn . 'It's been 17 years since I began my coaching career journey, and it has taught me far more about life than football. 'Thank you everyone who has supported me along the way – colleagues, lecturers, players, tutors and friends. 'I'm looking forward to continuing my work developing people, players, coaches, and teams,' concluded Loftman.
