Browns coach: Myles Garrett's latest speeding ticket 'extremely disappointing'

Miami Heralda day ago
Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski is not pleased with defensive end Myles Garrett after the star was cited for driving 100 mph over the weekend.
"Coming from a team leader, extremely disappointing," Stefanski said Wednesday before the Browns began their joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles. "It's been addressed with Myles -- with the football team. He needs to slow down for his safety and the safety of others."
Garrett, 29, was stopped by police in suburban Strongsville at 2:01 a.m. Saturday, about a half-hour after the team plane landed following a 30-10 preseason win in Carolina. He did not play in the game in Charlotte.
He was ticketed for driving his gray 2014 Ferrari at 100 mph in a 60 mph zone.
Garrett was issued a $250 ticket and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, but he can avoid attending if he pays the fine.
The incident comes nearly three years after Garrett flipped his Porsche 911 Turbo S multiple times in a single-car crash. He was traveling 65 mph in a 45 mph zone before driving off the side of the road, striking a ditch and fire hydrant.
It's the eighth time Garrett has been cited for speeding since being drafted first overall in 2017 out of Texas A&M.
The 2023 Defensive Player of the Year has been a force since entering the league.
In eight seasons with the Browns, Garrett is a six-time Pro Bowl selection and four-time first-team All-Pro. He has 352 tackles and 102.5 sacks in 117 games (114 starts).
Garrett signed a four-year contract extension with the Browns, which includes $123.5 million guaranteed, earlier this year.

Browns, Eagles offensive linemen talk over Miller Lites after joint practice

The defending champion Philadelphia Eagles held joint practices this week with the Cleveland Browns ahead of their home preseason matchup Saturday afternoon. One player who won't be suiting up for that game is Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson. The three-time Pro Bowler suffered a leg injury earlier in training camp. He had minor surgery but may be back in time for the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 4. He's on the sidelines for practice wearing a knee brace in the meantime. Once today's practice finished up, it was Miller Time for him and his fellow linemen. Dickerson seen talking with Cleveland offensive linemen Wyatt Teller and Joel Bitonio while enjoying some Miller Lites after practice finished up. The Eagles and Browns have two of the most-acclaimed offensive lines in the league. Their projected starters this season have made a combined 20 Pro Bowls and 15 All-Pro teams (six first-team, nine second-team). With Dickerson out, backup Brett Toth has been working in with the Eagles' starters. If Dickerson misses time, he'll be the second new starter in 2025 for the Eagles' front along with right guard Tyler Steen. The former third-round pick is taking the spot left by free agent departure Mekhi Becton, now in Los Angeles. The Browns wrap up their preseason slate against the Los Angeles Rams on Aug. 23. Philadelphia finishes off their preseason schedule a day earlier on the road against the New York Jets.

Odell Beckham Jr. Sparks Steelers Rumors With Aaron Rodgers Comments

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Wide receiver was arguably the Pittsburgh Steelers' biggest area of need heading into the offseason. The team addressed that need by acquiring two-time Pro Bowl receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks and Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith from the Miami Dolphins, but it created another hole when it traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys back in early May. Pittsburgh's WR depth chart behind Metcalf leaves much to be desired. Roman Wilson, Calvin Austin III, Robert Woods, and Scotty Miller — Pittsburgh's presumed No. 2-5 receivers — logged a combined 61 catches, 810 yards, and four touchdowns last season, and with quarterback Aaron Rodgers taking over under center, the Steelers are rumored to still be in the market for an upgrade at receiver. During a recent appearance on the "Club Random" podcast with Ball Maher, former Giants, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams, and Miami Dolphins WR Odell Beckham Jr. hinted that he could potentially be on the verge of signing with the Steelers. "Why don't you join the Steelers, that'd be great because he's on the Steelers now," Maher asked. "I won't say that it's not a possibility, and I won't say that I haven't had any communications," Beckham Jr. responded. "... I'm not done, I'll tell you that." "I was actually supposed to be drafted to the Steelers. That was the meeting that I had when I was like, 'OK, I'm going to the Steelers,' and the Giants ended up taking me at 12 and the Steelers had the 16th pick, maybe, I think they took Ryan Shazier int hat draft." A three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, Beckham Jr. has been ravaged by injuries over the last five years. He missed nine games in 2020, three in 2021, three in 2023, eight in 2024, and the entire 2022 season with a series of ailments including a lower lumbar issue, two torn ACLs, a shoulder sprain, a hip bruise, and an ankle sprain. Beckham Jr., who's currently a free agent, totaled just nine catches for 55 yards with the Dolphins last season. With the Steelers looking to add to their WR room before their Week 1 matchup against the New York Jets, it's possible Beckham Jr.'s phone could be ringing soon. Eagles' Landon Dickerson serves beers at practice while recovering from knee surgery

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Landon Dickerson played bartender and served cold ones for the Super Bowl champion Eagles with the injured offensive lineman's career temporarily on ice. The Eagles can't wait for Dickerson to resume his day job. Dickerson passed around beers Thursday at the end of a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns — with a brace on his right knee following meniscus surgery that will keep the three-time Pro Bowl lineman sidelined at least through the end of training camp. Dickerson was injured at the end of Sunday's open practice at Lincoln Financial Field. There is no set timetable for his return, and Brett Toth took first-team snaps at left guard this week at practice. Toth likely will start for the Eagles when they play their second preseason game Saturday against the Browns. 'Whatever they ask me to do, I'm going to step to the plate and give it the best I got,' Toth said. 'Hopefully I can perform to the standard that was before me.' Beyond that, there are no guarantees. The Eagles remain hopeful Dickerson could return for the season opener when the Eagles raise their championship banner on Sept. 4 against Dallas. 'Don't have to name any starters or any backups at any position,' coach Nick Sirianni said. 'Brett's done a nice job and I like the depth that we have at that position and I know we have options there, but you asked about Brett, I think Brett's doing a really good job and he's got a lot of versatility.' Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson remained confident that Toth could handle the spot but was relieved that Dickerson wasn't necessarily expected to remain sidelined deep into the season. 'It was alarming but I'm glad we got a good-case scenario,' Johnson said. 'Make no mistake, Landon's one of the, if not, the best guard in football.' Toth, who played at Army, has had three stints with the Eagles and spent a bulk of that time on the practice squad. 'H's a really smart individual, really good with the detail of the game,' Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo said. 'He understands a lot of positions, which is great to have a guy like that that can line up in multiple spots and be able to step in if something happens. So I think that's the biggest thing he brings and I think he's been in the system for a while.' ___ AP NFL:
