Oregon Ducks take over as frontrunner to sign 4-star offensive tackle

USA Today27-06-2025
The positive recruiting news continues to pour in for the Oregon Ducks over the past month, with several top-rated players in the nation taking official visits to Eugene and strongly considering commitments to the Ducks.
Over the past couple of weeks, 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho has been trending to the Ducks, and this week, it appears that one of the other top OTs in the nation, 4-star Kelvin Obot, is doing the same as well.
According to On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, a pair of predictions have come down for Obot to choose the Ducks, from Nebraska Cornhuskers writers Bryan Munson and Sean Callahan. Nebraska is one of the schools in on Obot, so the writers likely received some intel that the Idaho product is trending towards a college career in the Pacific Northwest.
Obot has two pretty different ratings on 247Sports and On3. The former sees him as the No. 10 OT and No. 139 player in the 2026 class, while On3 rates Obot as the No. 3 OT and No. 9 overall player in the class.
Regardless of where the recruiting services view Obot, it's clear that the Ducks want him and hope to pair him with Iheanacho in the 2026 class, bookending their future tackle positions down the road. We will see if Oregon can secure his commitment over the likes of Utah, Nebraska, and Michigan, but if they do, it will be a massive victory.

Notre Dame Commit Profile: Wide Receiver Brayden Robinson

Notre Dame Commit Profile: Wide Receiver Brayden Robinson originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Notre Dame picked up a commitment from Texas wide receiver Brayden Robinson, one of the most dynamic wide outs in the country. It was a big pickup for the Irish, who capped off an outstanding receiver class with the commitment from Robinson. Advertisement Here is the recruiting profile for Robinson: BRAYDEN ROBINSON PROFILE Hometown/High School: Red Oak, Texas/Red Oak Height/Weight: 5-9, 160 IB Grade: 4.0 (Top 250 caliber prospect) Upside Grade: 4.0 (Top 100 caliber prospect) 2024 Stats: 79 catches, 1,408 yards, 17.8 YPC, 15 TD Player Comp: Rondale Moore, Purdue Recruited By: Mike Brown Offers: Notre Dame, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Oregon, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Miami (Fla.), Ole Miss, Auburn, Nebraska, South Carolina, TCU, Arizona State, Arkansas, Missouri, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, SMU, Utah, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Colorado, Baylor, Texas Tech, Arizona, Kansas, Houston, Stanford, California. RECRUITING RANKINGS ESPN: 4-star - No. 293 overall - No. 49 WR Rivals: 4-star - No. 40 WR 247Sports: 4-star - No. 40 WR On3: 3-star - No. 77 WR 247Sports Composite: 4-star - No. 340 overall - No. 52 WR On3 Consensus: 4-star - No. 354 overall - No. 54 WR NOTRE DAME FIT Robinson plays all over the field for Red Oak, lining up on the outside and in the slot. He can do some different things in the Notre Dame offense in similar ways to Jordan Faison, but the slot is his ideal position. He can be a weapon in the screen game, movement plays (jets, reverses) and screen game. Robinson has strong route running skills and shows good ball skills, traits that could allow him to do some work on the outside in certain looks. His size is a concern, but Robinson has the speed and ball skills to overcome it and be a pass catcher that can do damage down the field. Advertisement FILM ANALYSIS Let's get the biggest knock on Robinson out of the way up front. He's not a very big pass catcher. There are limitations as a wide receiver for a player who is listed at 5-9, which might be a bit generous. There are things he can do in high school that he likely won't be able to do in college. He and the Notre Dame coaches might need to do some things with him that look to overcome his last of size. Despite being on the short side, Robinson is very well built and is a strong athlete, which is certainly one thing that helps him overcome his lack of height. His strength and toughness help him make a lot of plays with the ball in his hands. Now that we've got that out of the way let's dive into what makes Robinson such an intriguing pickup for Notre Dame. First and foremost he's an explosive, dynamic athlete in every way. Robinson has legit burner speed, and his track time (10.44 in the 100-meter dash) shows up on film. He can blow past defenders on vertical routes and also with the ball in his hands. He gets to top speed in a hurry and shows excellent acceleration. Robinson's ability to quickly accelerate off the line and out of breaks allows him to be an elite separator at the prep level, and that should translate quite well to college. Robinson is more than just a burner. He's an extremely sudden athlete that is able to change direction in impressive fashion. He can make multiple cuts in a hurry and accelerates extremely quickly out of breaks and with the ball in his hands. He's a nightmare matchup in space due to this traits. Robinson shows good leaping ability for his size but he won't be a guy you're throwing a lot of jump balls too. What you want to do with Robinson is figure out as many ways as possible to get him the football in space, where his athleticism and speed make him extremely difficult to handle. Advertisement What I like about Robinson's game is that he's not just an elite athlete, he shows a really good feel for the game as well. Robinson is a really quality route runner. He not only eats up cushion well, he attacks leverage relatively well and shows impressive burst out of his breaks. He is great at finding openings in the defense with the ball in his hands but he also shows that ability as a route runner, which helps him get into space down the field as well. Robinson has very strong hands and tracks the ball extremely well. Landing Robinson also impacts the special teams as well. It wouldn't surprise me to see him get a chance to make an immediate impact as a return man. You have to find ways to get him the football, whether that's on offense or special teams. Former Oregon star Bucky Irving lands on ESPN's list of top NFL RBs for 2025

During the most recent era of Oregon Ducks football, since Dan Lanning took over at the end of 2021, there has been few players more captivating in Eugene than running back Bucky Irving. As a transfer from Minnesota and a relatively unknown rusher when arriving at Oregon, Irving quickly stole the hearts of Duck fans. He became a beloved player in college football circles. Now he's doing a similar thing at the NFL level with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After getting drafted in the 4th round with the No. 125 overall pick in 2024, Irving turned a lot of heads as a rookie, rushing for 1,122 yards and eight touchdowns while earning a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team and being voted 6th for the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Going into his sophomore campaign, expectations are now high for Irving, who has developed somewhat of a cult following in the NFL, especially amongst fantasy football players. On Monday, when ranking the best running backs in the NFL, ESPN didn't quite put Irving in the top 10, but they did give him the top spot amongst honorable mentions. "Combination of speed, quicks and contact balance," an NFL coordinator told ESPN. "Heck of a runner. Rarely goes down on first contact." After splitting time with Rachaad White for the most part last season, there is an expectation that Irving will enter 2025 as the lead back in Tampa Bay and get a lion's share of the workload. What he will do with that opportunity is yet to be seen, but Oregon fans can remember fondly the breakout he had in 2023 after splitting the load with Noah Whittington in 2022. Irving was named to the Pac-12 All-Second Team with 186 rushes, 1,180 yards, and 11 TDs, plus 56 catches, 413 yards, and 2 TDs. At Ducks Wire, we are counting down the top 25 Oregon players over the past 25 years this month, and Irving kicked things off on Monday, ranked No. 25. Wisconsin football a finalist with several SEC programs for notable 2026 safety

Wisconsin football made the final schools for class of 2026 safety Jowell Combay on Sunday. The Badgers were listed alongside Missouri, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. Combay also noted that he will announce his commitment on July 9 at 5 p.m. ET, 4 p.m. CT. 247Sports currently lists the Marietta, Georgia, native as a three-star recruit. He's specifically ranked as the No. 632 player in the class of 2026, the No. 49 safety and the No. 70 player from his home state. The recruiting service notes that he took official visits to Oklahoma State on April 25, Missouri on May 30, South Carolina on June 6, Wisconsin on June 13 and Tennessee on June 20. It does not list a trip to Georgia, one of his five finalists. 247Sports has yet to register a crystal ball prediction for Combay's commitment. On3/Rivals sees a tight four-team race, with Tennessee at 28%, South Carolina at 18.5%, Missouri at 15.9% and Wisconsin at 13.2%. Wisconsin's class of 2026 currently ranks No. 48 in the nation with 15 players committed. The program is still seeking a final boost to elevate the class into the nation's top 30. Stay tuned later this week for Combay's decision.
