Now open: Residence, Melbourne's most intriguing new concept restaurant
Together, Residence's co-founders Nathen Doyle and Cameron Earl bring more than two decades of industry experience to the table. Doyle played an integral role in launching hip Carlton spots like Heartattack and Vine and Sunhands, plus inclusive wine events operator Good Booze Blind, while Earl (who started his career at age 13 as a kitchen hand) has earned his stripes working for some of Melbourne's best-loved venues: Carlton Wine Room, Embla and St. Ali.
The inaugural head chef hired to kick off Residence's debut is Robbie Noble.
Originally from northern England, Noble brings professional kitchen expertise from his time working across the UK, Paris and Melbourne. From three years at England's Michelin-starred Northcote and a red-hot stint at Paris' cult seafood bar Clamato to a senior sous chef role at fine diner Vue de Monde, Noble's scope of experience alone is impressive – but its his sophisticated idea, Cherrywood, that excited Doyle and Earl.
Noble's Cherrywood is the first 12-month project to take over Residence, a place for shared, seasonal produce-led dining, artful sophistication and gathering-style conviviality. Inspired by his upbringing in West Yorkshire , Noble's offering features dishes such as smoked bone marrow and oxtail marmalade on toast, grilled John Dory with tomato butter and tarragon and poached peach with lemon verbena and rum sponge.
Noble's roast chicken tea has fast become Cherrywood signature, a crystal-clear broth poured over tarragon oil and black garlic that tastes exactly like roast chicken.
Noble explains: 'We're creating an experience that provokes feelings of nostalgia and intrigue through refined country-style cuisine, paired with good technique and high-quality produce.'
Want a seat at the table? Residence is now open and you can make a reservation here.
'Cherrywood is cooking that makes room for people,' says Noble. 'It's thoughtful but unfussy, shaped by memory, and always adapting. Residence is the kind of place that lets that sentiment grow — creatively, collaboratively, openly.'
Cherrywood is located at the Potter Museum of art at The University of Melbourne's Parkville campus. It seats 60 across its main dining room and adjoining espresso wine bar. For more information, head to the website or follow Residence on Instagram.

Scottish Love is Blind UK star sends urgent message to fans as season 2 drops on Netflix
Katisha has shared an important message to Love Is Blind UK fans A Love is Blind UK contestant has made an urgent appeal to viewers as the highly anticipated second season returns to screens. The fresh season of Love Is Blind UK launches on Netflix today, Wednesday, August 13 following last year's triumph. A completely new batch of singletons are entering the experiment hoping to discover their ideal partner. However, there's a catch - isolated in individual pods, participants must forge emotional bonds without any face-to-face contact. Only after getting engaged and committing to progress their romance will they finally meet before moving in together and planning their wedding, reports the Mirror. As the programme broadcasts, one participant has made an urgent appeal asking viewers to be "mindful". Scottish contestant Katisha is the oldest of seven siblings and has remained single for over six years. Describing herself as "eternally unlucky in love", the 31 year old is determined to find romance with someone prepared to commit. Katisha has plenty of affection to offer and seeks a husband rather than just a boyfriend. Posting on her Instagram profile this week, Katisha revealed her time on the show has been "surreal". She posted: "2 DAYS TO GO UNTIL WE GO LIVE!!! Woke up this morning feeling SO excited but also a little nervous. "When I applied for @loveisblindnetflix never in a million years did I think I would be chosen to take part in the experiment! I'm a huge fan of the show and it's nuts that I've been lucky enough to visit the pods and be one of 30 singles given the opportunity to find love in an unorthodox way!!" Making an urgent appeal to viewers, she continued: "It's so surreal seeing it out there now when I've been sat on it for months. A quick PSA: "As you watch the show please be mindful as, as much as this is entertaining and it is a TV show this is still very much our lives!! It takes big balls to do something like this and I take my hats off to myself and all my cast mates for even just showing up. "I tried to keep true to myself and keep my mind and heart open throughout - as you've seen there's definitely been some vulnerability from me too. Kinda nervous for you to see this side of me actually. "Eeek! Can't wait to unpack it with you all! ! Are you ready to find out if love truly is blind???"

Jessie J says her ‘hair has been falling out like crazy' after cancer surgery
In a recent Instagram post, the Price Tag singer said: 'My hair has been falling out like crazy since the surgery. 'Five weeks today, since my surgery, and I'm feeling ok… my boobs still aren't even, this is the implant still so sore, and then this is my old, oh, you're not old.' She continued: 'Now I'm just trying to figure out what the next kind of six months is going to look like. 'I know that it has to change, and I can't do anything that I was supposed to be doing, but I just want to be able to like, make it work best I can for everybody, me, Sky (her daughter), my fans, but in the right order. 'It's so hard, like you're always going to leave some people disappointed, my perspective on everything has changed so much.' The London-born star also revealed she had a new song 'coming out soon' but said she would 'not be able to do as much promo for it' due to her recovery following the operation, adding that she 'can't have it sitting in my phone for another year'. It comes after she said her latest visit to hospital was a 'reminder to myself to slow down' even though she felt she was already at a slow pace. In an earlier Instagram post, Cornish said: 'This isn't a speedy recovery and it isn't meant to be. 'As an ADHD Aries, fire breathing dragon t-rex, I can do it myself, I'm always ok woman. That slow pace has been a hard reality to accept to be honest. 'I love moving and working and being up and active but I can't be right now, and that's what it is, and I am finding the strength knowing that all can be adjusted to align with a slower pace and the support of my very small inner support circle.' Cornish welcomed her son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, in 2023, having had a miscarriage in November 2021. She has battled with ill-health throughout her life, having been diagnosed with a heart condition aged eight, suffering a minor stroke aged 18 and having briefly gone deaf in 2020. The singer-songwriter has had three number one songs in the UK singles chart with Domino, Price Tag and Bang Bang. She was awarded four Mobo awards in 2011 including best UK act, best newcomer, best song for Do It Like A Dude and best album with Who You Are, and won the Brit Award for rising star in 2011.

Bonnie Blue Instagram mystery as star vanishes hours after Ibiza Final Boss video
Controversial adult star Bonnie Blue vanished from Instagram just hours after posting an awkward video with 'Ibiza Final Boss' Jack Kay - and it's not the first time she's vanished from the platform Bonnie Blue vanished from Instagram just hours after posting a video with 'Ibiza Final Boss' Jack Kay. The controversial adult star - who has so far been banned from OnlyFans, a football stadium and Australia over her extreme and potentially dangerous sex stunts - went dark on the social media platform today, with her once verified account unavailable for hours. It's not the first time Bonnie has disappeared from Instagram. Earlier this year, her account on the Meta-owned platform went dark, as well as her TikTok page. The star's page has now dramatically returned, but it's unclear whether the Instagram account was banned or removed. It comes as 'Ibiza Bob' launches his music career with a cheeky single. The sex worker is notorious for using rage bait as the cornerstone of her marketing strategy, making any move away from social media a shock decision. She recently admitted in a divsive Channel 4 documentary about her life that she uses multiple different accounts on each platform to spam users with content designed to outrage viewers and drive engagement. She also boasted about mocking and belittling women in her posts. PR expert Sophie tells The Mirror of her social media scheme: "Her use of rage-baiting and hostility towards other women may also point to internalised misogyny or a competitive survival strategy in a space where attention equals power. "Publicly belittling others can offer a temporary illusion of control or superiority – especially when self-worth is closely tied to external validation, views, or notoriety." The mystery Instagram snub comes shortly after Bonnie's strange meet-up with viral Geordie raver Jack Kay. In a wince-worthy video from the Ibiza get together, Jack is seen with his arm draped around Bonnie as he faces away from her. Another moment shows the duo awkwardly making conversation, stood noticeably far away from each other. Following their encounter, Bonnie said in a now-deleted clip: "It was my shortest video yet. I was shocked how nervous he was." Bonnie has become notorious for taking part in extreme sex stunts, including sleeping with 1,057 men in the space of just 12 hours. And in recent months, her troubling career ambitions escalated to the point where OnlyFans, the site where she made a name for herself, decided she was no longer a good fit. The final straw came in June, when the 26-year-old announced her plans to hold a human "petting zoo challenge". The stunt would have seen Bonnie locked in a glass cage as strangers came to do "whatever they wanted" to her. In Channel 4 's show '1,000 Men And Me: The Bonnie Blue Story' - which sparked hundreds of Ofcom complaints - Nottinghamshire-born Bonnie boasted: "I am going to be completely helpless, tied down, gagged, choked". OnlyFans had concerns about this stunt, which it claims was in violation of their Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service, and issued a permanent ban. Campaigners and other sex workers have long called for the website to take action against Bonnie's stunts but it continued to platform her until very recently. Confirming the permanent ban in a statement, an OnlyFans spokesperson previously said: "Extreme challenge content is not available on OnlyFans and is not permitted under our Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service. "Any breach of our Terms of Service results in content or account deactivation… This is why it has been necessary to take this action. We always act when users breach our terms of service." For Bonnie, who claims to have earned millions through the site, it was a huge blow. Shortly after the ban, she accused the OnlyFans of acting inconsistently and bowing to peer pressure. She claimed: "OnlyFans took unprecedented action by banning me for making content, while multiple other creators are mimicking my entire marketing techniques and events." Adding that she ensures all safety checks are in place at her events, Bonnie continued: "If I didn't have the platform I have for the hard work I've done, I don't think they would have battered an eyelid, as proven with all of these other creators.' This isn't the only time Bonnie has been hit with a strict ban. Earlier this year, Bonnie told the Daily Star that she'd been marched off the premises of Nottingham Forest Football Stadium last October and permanently barred. She alleged: "I didn't understand why, because I'd not actually done anything. Even in my TikToks leading up to the game, I never said I wanted to have sex, do any half-time bonking, nothing. I just said: 'Hey, I'm going to be at the Nottingham game'. "When you go to football, you've got football hooligans, people fighting, drinking, you've got so much bigger things to be concerned about, and they were just like - no, you're banned." Bonnie is also banned from Australia after her plans to sleep with 18-year-old boys for content during 'Schoolies Week' infuriated Aussie parents. A 20,000-strong petition ensued, and her visa was revoked. Whether or not Bonnie has been banned from Instagram has yet to be seen.
