Addressing the Business Blasters Expo 2025 here, Bains said in a world where hundreds and thousands of applicants chased a single job, Punjab's govt had flipped the script. Under the Business Blasters Expo 2025, students are being encouraged to become job creators instead of job seekers, he said, adding that the Punjab govt would provide all kinds of assistance, both financial and technical, to all the progressive-minded students.Referring to the Business Blasters Expo 2025, the minister said 10 student-led ventures, selected from govt schools across Punjab, demonstrated their business ideas in a shark tank-style showdown before govt leaders, industrialists, startup founders, and educationists.
All teams were successful in getting financial assistance to make their dreams come true. The remaining 30 teams also showcased and sold their products at Expo stalls, he said.
Bains informed that an investment of Rs 17 lakh was made to set up innovation labs, where students would now be able to develop their own products, even in collaboration with the IITs.
Highlighting the Punjab Young Entrepreneurs Scheme, he said the state govt had started a new era of student entrepreneurship.
This began as a pilot project in 30 schools in the state, where students were asked to present and pitch their business ideas. One shining example is a girl from a BPL (below poverty line) family at Govt Mullanpur Dakha School, who created decorative flower pots that sold for 20 times their price in Ludhiana.
Similarly, a youth from the Anandpur Sahib constituency now buys T-shirts from Gurugram and resells them via Instagram, earning Rs 50,000 a month, the minister highlighted.

He mentioned that the leading 10 teams of students showcased business ideas such as electrical cycles, natural beauty products, handmade dupattas (scarves), driving simulators, artwork framing, natural ingredient masalas (spices), safety sticks, chocolates, herbal soaps, and many other innovative products.
AAP leader and former deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sasodia, who was also present at the expo, said the Punjab Young Entrepreneurs Scheme would be a milestone.
"Going forward, govt school students will need to present a business idea to be eligible to pass. Students must gain practical understanding and real-world learning. Those graduating from Class XII will leave with something they've created, sold, and earned money from.
Regardless of their chosen degree or diploma, every student must learn how to earn while studying," he said,
Sisodia pointed out that every year, 1 crore graduates passed out in India, but only 10 lakh got jobs, the rest continued searching for private sector employment.
Between 2014-15 and 2021-22, according to a Parliament report, 22.05 crore youth applied for jobs, but only 7 lakh got them. This stark gap underscores the urgency of programmes like 'Business Blasters', he added.
"Under the Business Blasters Expo 2025, it is now mandatory for students to present at least one business idea as a subject-based project. This programme ensures that every student will not only gain financial literacy and independence but also learn the essentials of marketing and entrepreneurship.
This is a historic and visionary step, one that will empower and enable every student to stand tall with capability and confidence," said Sisodia.
Rajya Sabha member Vikramjeet Sahni announced Rs 10 lakh to the first 10 teams to establish their ventures. Other business persons, industrialists, and senior officers from the state govt present at the event also assured the students of technical expertise and financial assistance.
Pramod Bhasin, founder of Genpact; Anuj Kundra, member of Punjab Development Commission; Anandita Mitra, secretary, School Education Punjab Board; and first jury team members Hemant Kanakia, founder and former CEO of Torrent Networking Technologies; Sairee Chahal, founder and CEO of Sheros; Shray Pathak, head of Technology Business Incubator Foundation, IIT Ropar; and others were also present.

Addressing the Business Blasters Expo 2025 here, Bains said in a world where hundreds and thousands of applicants chased a single job, Punjab's govt had flipped the script. Farmers meeting Haryana CM, demand clearance of pending electricity dues to Naraingarh Sugar Mill, its government takeover
Farmers meeting Haryana CM, demand clearance of pending electricity dues to Naraingarh Sugar Mill, its government takeover CHANDIGARH: Farmers of Ambala region met Haryana chief minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini at his official residence in Chandigarh on Saturday. They demanded from CM to release the pending electricity dues of Rs 14 crore to Naraingarh Sugar Mill at Banondi village in Shahzadpur area of Ambala district. The farmers also demanded from the government to take over the private Naraingarh Sugar Mill and procure the sugar manufactured by this mill through HAFED. The farmers led by Ganna Kisan Sangharsh Samiti Venod Rana handed over two different memorandums to the CM. Rana was accompanied by farmers Rajpal Rana, Sukhminder and Rajiv Sharma. Sukhminder said, 'The sugar mill owes total sugarcane dues of Rs 19 crore to farmers. Due to the pending government loan on sugar mill, the government releases only 50% payment of the electricity generated by the mill, which affects the timely payment release to the farmers. ' The farmers demanded from CM, 'Sugarcane payment is one of the biggest issues faced by farmers of the Naraingarh region. This season, the sugar mill has produced and sold electricity worth Rs 14 crore to Haryana government's electricity department. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Paras Sector 59 Gurgaon | Luxury Awaits at Paras Floret Paras The Florett Book Now Undo For the last three years, the Haryana government is releasing 50% payment of the electricity generation to the sugar mill, from which, the pending sugarcane dues of the farmers are cleared. Every year, IREDA (Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited) obtains NOC from Haryana Sugarcane Commissioner, Panchkula and then releases the amount to the sugar mill. Therefore, it is requested to release the pending dues of the electricity from Haryana government side to the sugar mill, so that the farmers' sugarcane payment can be released.' In their second letter, farmers suggested to the Haryana CM that after the Supreme Court's order of the attachment of Naraingarh Sugar Mill in an ongoing case, Haryana government's HAFED should take this mill, so that all the work is done under its observation. 'For setting up a new sugar mill, it will cost Rs 600 crore to the government. But if the HAFED runs this sugar mill, it will not cost the government anything, rather, it will help in recovery of the government loan amount given to the sugar mill', said the farmers. The farmers added that in the interest of the 7,000 farmers associated with this sugar mill who supply over 50 lakh quintal sugarcane and about 700 employees of the sugar mill, the government must permanently take over this mill and HAFED should run it as per rules.

PF Rules Changed: Buy Your First Home Faster With 90% Withdrawal Access
In a major relief for salaried employees, the government has revised the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawal rules, making it significantly easier for first-time homebuyers to access funds. Under the newly introduced Para 68-BD of the EPF Scheme, 1952, EPFO members can now withdraw up to 90% of their PF corpus for the purchase, construction, or EMI payment of a residential property. This move shortens the eligibility period from five years to just three years from the date of account opening. Previously, PF withdrawals for housing were limited to 36 months' worth of combined employee and employer contributions plus interest, whichever was lower and only after five years of continuous EPF membership. The earlier rules also restricted members already enrolled in housing schemes. The new rules now give subscribers more flexibility but restrict this housing withdrawal to once in a lifetime. Additional Major Changes to EPF Withdrawal EPFO has announced other significant changes to streamline and speed up PF withdrawal: Instant Withdrawals via UPI and ATM: From June 2025, members can instantly withdraw up to Rs 1 lakh for emergency needs. Auto Settlement Limit Raised: Automatic claim settlement limit increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Simplified Claim Process: The number of verification parameters reduced from 27 to 18, with 95% of claims now settled within 3-4 days. Easier Withdrawals for Life Needs: Processes for education, marriage, and medical-related withdrawals have also been simplified, boosting financial liquidity for employees.
