Breaking down the Dolphins' 90-man roster at the start of training camp
On Tuesday, Aug. 26 the Dolphins (along with every other team in the NFL) will trim their roster from 90 players to 53 ahead of the start of the regular season. While several of those waived players will later return as members of the practice squad, a larger number will be jettisoned into free agency.
For now, here are the 90 players (plus a couple who don't count) set to begin training camp on the Dolphins' roster (sorted alphabetically):
Quarterbacks (4)
Tagovailoa is the incumbent starter and that won't change. All eyes in camp will be on new backup Wilson and Ewers, a seventh-round pick in April.
Running backs (6)
Achane and Wright are expected to lead the way in the 2025 backfield while Mattison and Gordon compete for a role.
Wide receivers (12)
Despite plenty of offseason drama, Hill returns in 2025 as part of the Dolphins' one-two punch with Waddle. There's no shortage of competition to fill the remainder of the depth chart.
Tight ends (6)
After trading away Jonnu Smith and allowing Durham Smythe to leave in free agency, the Dolphins acquired Waller in a trade to improve what is arguably their weakest position group.
Offensive line (15*)
The Dolphins' starting lineup already seems mostly set with Paul, Savaiinaea, Brewer, Daniels, and Jackson likely to be the top five.
Defensive line (9)
The Dolphins will inevitably rely on youth in their defensive front after waiving goodbye to Calais Campbell and Da'Shawn Hand. In their place on the roster are three 2025 draftees.
Linebackers (15)
The trio of Chubb, Phillips, and Robinson still haven't seen the field together after Chubb missed all of 2024 and Phillips was sidelined early in the year with a season-ending knee injury. On the inside, Brooks and Dodson are the favorites to start.
Cornerbacks (11*)
If tight end isn't the weakest group on the roster, it's the cornerback room. After parting with Jalen Ramsey and Kendall Fuller, the Dolphins are likely to add at least one veteran to the mix before the season starts.
Safeties (8)
The return of Fitzpatrick to Miami brings experience and pedigree to a group that didn't have much at the start of July. Melifonwu, Davis, and McMorris will battle to start alongside the five-time Pro Bowler.
Specialists (4)
The Dolphins didn't make many coaching staff changes in the offseason, but they have a new special teams coordinator in Craig Aukerman. The former Titans assistant reunited with Tennessee's former punter Stonehouse, setting up a battle with Bailey for the punting job.

We hit 42 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now
We've reached 42 days until the Raiders season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots, With our countdown at 42 days we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction. No. 42 Who's wearing it now: LB Matt Jones Not THAT Matt Jones. Or that one. This is a new Matt Jones. This Matt Jones is an undrafted rookie linebacker out of Baylor. Hoping he can make enough of an impression on special teams to crack the roster or at least earn a spot on the practice squad. Who wore it best: S Ronnie Lott Lott had already established his Hall of Fame career as a nine-time Pro Bowler with four rings in San Francisco by the time he joined the Raiders in 1991. But he wasn't done. In his first season with the Raiders at the age of 32, he put up eight interceptions and was named to his 10th Pro Bowl and a first team All Pro for the sixth time. Even though he spent just two seasons in Silver & Black, he earned earned the title as best to wear the number 42. Honorable Mention: S Eric Turner Turner had also already established himself in his career before joining the Raiders. The two-time Pro Bowl safety joined the Raiders at the age of 29. He spent three seasons in Oakland and was part of the resurgent Raiders team of the late 90s. Tragedy would end his career and his life the following offseason, when he died from complications caused by abdominal cancer. He was just 31 years old.

Giants' Malik Nabers, Jaxson Dart 'got into it' during pickup basketball game
With experience comes wisdom, and New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson has that in abundance. The 10-time Pro Bowler and one-time Super Bowl champion may not be what he used to be physically, but he's never been as strong mentally. And the knowledge he has brought to the Giants' offense in just a few short months has astounded his teammates. One player who has come away particularly impressed is second-year wide receiver Malik Nabers, who has heaped praise on Wilson's arm and, more recently, the quarterback's football IQ. Russ has the smarts During an interview with Victor Cruz for Bleacher Report, Nabers shared an incredible story about Wilson's ability to read a defense, but not before complimenting his arm talent. "Having that leader at quarterback, especially with Russ, able to throw anywhere on the football field. That's been a step forward," Nabers said. "Taking shots down the field. Connecting on those. "His arm angles (are impressive). How he throws the ball. Throwing the ball in a great spot where only you can get it and the defender can't." But it's the knowledge Wilson brings that's the real story. "We had a play, and I thought he was going to check it," Nabers said. "I thought it was man, and he knew it was zone. I came back to him and I was like, 'How did you know it wasn't man because I thought it was (zone) and we were going to check.' He was like, 'Something just told me. The position that he was guarding you at, I knew it was on.' "Man, that's some vet stuff right there. This is vet mentality; understanding how we can get plays in and out." Managing toe injury Nabers missed most workouts during the spring as a result of a toe injury that has lingered since college. Eventually, it may require surgery to repair, and head coach Brian Daboll has left the door open to limiting the star receiver in practice this year. But Nabers may have found a temporary solution in the form of Wilson's physical therapist. "Russ has the best physical therapist that I have been around," Nabers said. "I went to his crib -- I've been dealing with the toe situation. I told Russ' PT guy about it. I was like, 'Look. My toe has been bothering me.' He was like, 'Okay, cool. We can handle it.' I spent two days over there and I was better. "The physical therapy that (Wilson) does is unbelievable. He does it in the morning before he comes (to East Rutherford). I'm sure he wakes up at 5 o'clock, gets PT, comes here. When he's done, he gets PT. At the end of the night, he does PT again." Nabers added that he's learning to embrace Wilson's PT schedule and attempting to emulate it in hopes of remaining healthy and enjoying a long NFL career. Stepping to the rookie Nabers hesitantly told a story about quarterback Jaxson Dart, revealing that he had "stepped to" the rookie during a pickup basketball game at Wilson's house this spring. He wanted to see what Dart had in him. The result? "I'm not sure if I should disclose this, but I will because it was between me and him," Nabers said. "We were playing basketball at Russell's house in San Diego, and me and him got into it. I was just testing his little dog. I wanted to see if he was really a little dog. "I got up to him and said, 'What are you going to do?' He stepped straight to me, and I was like, 'Okay. Me and you are fly.' I know when someone is going to come into the game and try and get into it." That's how you win your teammates over.

Ex-Steelers FS Minkah Fitzpatrick already pushing for new deal with Dolphins
It's been less than a month since the Steelers traded Minkah Fitzpatrick to Miami — but he's allegedly looking for a new deal with the Dolphins. On Saturday, Dolphins insider Omar Kelly reported that Fitzpatrick, who's out of guaranteed money on his current contract, switched agents to Drew Rosenhaus — in hopes of getting a new deal. Kelly also noted that Rosenhaus represents Dolphins DT Zach Sieler, who's also looking for a reworked contract in the near future. Fitzpatrick is due $15.5 million this season and $17.7 million in 2026 — but it remains to be seen if the Dolphins will extend their former first-round draft pick or allow him to leave Miami. The Steelers landed two talented playmakers in exchange for Fitzpatrick — All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey and Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith, both versatile and expected to play major roles for Pittsburgh this upcoming season.
