Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato's former costar Alyson Stoner recalls horrifying rape by 'well-adored colleague'
Alyson Stoner opened up about a harrowing story detailing how they were once allegedly sexually assaulted by a colleague. The actor — who uses they/them pronouns — claimed they 'blacked out' when they were attacked after a wellness event by a man who was allegedly 'well-adored in the community.' Stoner, now 32, shared the shocking allegation in their new memoir: Semi-Well-Adjusted Despite Literally Anything, which was released Tuesday. 'The world blurred as my mind completely disconnected from my body,' Stoner, who starred alongside Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato in the Camp Rock film franchise, wrote in their memoir, per Us Weekly. 'The last image I saw was a poster on the wall of a ravenous feline leaping for its prey. Then I blacked out and he raped me.' During that time, Stoner had taken a hiatus from acting and was transitioning away from content creation. The former child star had started working towards becoming a full-time mental health professional and advocate for current child actors and influencers. The Disney alum said the alleged sexual assault occurred after she ran into the colleague at an unnamed wellness event. The two allegedly ended up alone together after Stoner accepted the colleague's invitation to learn more about his products. Stoner did not reveal their alleged attacker's name in their memoir before detailing how he allegedly treated them like 'an inanimate object.' 'He opened the door to a room on the first floor of an apartment building,' they wrote before remembering the thought that crossed their mind at the time. 'Is this his lab or his residence? It was common for entrepreneurs and creatives to have live-work spaces, but this looked nothing like the setup from the photos he showed me.' Stoner claimed that the man's place had 'no chairs to sit on' and they ended up sitting on the floor. They recalled feeling 'uncomfortable' that they noticed the man's 'eyes focused on my crotch.' 'His eyes burned a hole in my body as he calculated his next move. Suddenly, his hand reached to grab my crotch, and I swatted him away.' Stoner remembered how they were crying when the man, who was bigger than them, allegedly overpowered and trapped them in a small corner of his room. 'Still on the floor, he wrestled me toward the back corner of the room as I fought back tears. With one arm, he lifted my whole body onto his bed, which was tucked into a recessed nook with three walls enclosing it.' When the alleged assailant tried to 'remove' their clothes, Stoner said their 'legs fused together and I didn't move.' 'I briefly exited my body to go into analytical survivor mode: Stay present and list your options. You know what might happen. How can you get out of this alive? Your phone is out of reach. If you scream, he might muffle you. 'If you run for the door, he's massive and will beat you there and maybe make it more painful,' they added. Stoner recalled feeling themselves becoming 'more and more trapped and unable to function.' However, the Disney alum said they fought through the 'dread' and was able to get their attacker to stop. 'Like a child trying to fool his parents, he stopped communicating and pretended to fall asleep instantly, though his body was visibly charged with energy. I tried to match his nonchalance and deescalate the situation.' But Stoner claimed the man continued to assault them anyway. 'There was no reasoning or physically fighting my way out. My defenses waned as his hands pulled my pants to my knees, flipping me to the side where I could momentarily see his bare body in my periphery. 'He separated my legs like I was an inanimate object.' In their memoir, Stoner also opened up about their experience in Hollywood — just shortly after they shared a story about how they were fired from a kids' show after first coming out as queer. In a 2018 Teen Vogue interview, they claimed it was 'definitely discrimination' when they were let go from a show they opted out of naming. 'I did end up getting fired from a children's show beccause they felt that I was unsafe, now that they knew I was queer to be around kids,' they said on the I'm Literally Screaming podcast in June 2023.

World No 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler suffers huge blow ahead of PGA Tour playoff event
Scottie Scheffler will be without his caddie Ted Scott when he tees it up at this week's BMW Championship in a huge blow for golf's world No 1. Scott has been a mainstay in Scheffler's professional career for the past four years, but a family emergency last weekend saw him rush back to his home in Louisiana. The change in circumstance led to Scheffler turning to a chaplain and close friend to help him out with the final round of the FedEx St Jude on Sunday, and now it'll be all change again this week. The recent Open champion and four-time major winner will have Mike Cromie on his bag instead, as he continues his foray into the FedEx Cup playoffs. Scott's personal matter has so far not yet been disclosed, but it is expected Scheffler will field questions about his close friend's absence as the week progresses. The world No 1 is due to begin the tournament on Thursday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, where he will be paired with Rory McIlroy for the first round of the penultimate tournament of the season. Cromie has served as the caddie for six-time PGA Tour winner Chris Kirk in the past. Kirk, however, fell short of qualifying for the BMW Championship at 51st in the FedExCup rankings - the top 50 advanced to this week's event. It could turn into a lucrative weekend for the stand-in caddie if Scheffler is in his usual imperious form... form that has earned Scott an eye-watering amount over the past few years. The American's regular wins have even seen Scott earn more than most players on the PGA Tour, as he takes home an estimated 10% of Scheffler's prize money. This season he has already banked $20.36m in tournament prize money, giving Scott just over $2m for himself. On top of that, Scheffler has another $23m in bonus money - but it is unclear how much commission his caddie is on when it comes to that.

Brady Singer throws six shutout innings in Reds' win over Phillies
August 13 - Brady Singer allowed three hits over six shutout innings while Miguel Andujar homered for the second time in three games to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-1 win over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday night. Spencer Steer doubled and drove in three runs and Jose Trevino went 2-for-4 and drove in two as the Reds won for the third time in four games, extending their MLB-best streak of not being swept this season to 39 series. With heavy rain falling, Bryce Harper launched a towering homer, his 18th, to the seats in right with two outs in the ninth to end the shutout bid. The Phillies had their four-game win streak snapped and lost for the first time in five tries on their 10-game, three-city road trip. For the second straight night, a Cincinnati starter retired the first 12 Philadelphia batters, as Singer was perfect through four innings, striking out five in the process. Like Monday night, the first batter of the fifth ended the run at perfection when Nick Castellanos hit a one-hopper that Elly De La Cruz played to the side and let carom off his glove for what was ruled a base hit. But Castellanos was erased on an inning-ending double play off the bat of Edmundo Sosa, as Singer faced the minimum of 15 batters through five. Unlike the night before with Andrew Abbott, the Reds provided a bit more offensive support, taking a 2-0 lead in the third on a two-run double from Steer off Phillies starter Ranger Suarez (8-6), who took the loss. The Reds added another in the fourth when Miguel Andujar lined an 81mph slider from Suarez down the left field line and just inside the foul pole for his eighth homer of the season and second with the Reds after he was acquired from the Athletics at the trade deadline. Suarez was tagged for six runs on a season-high ten hits over 5 1/3 innings, suffering his fourth loss in six starts after starting the season 7-2. Singer (10-9) worked around a two-out single from Rafael Marchan followed with a double by Trea Turner in the sixth to preserve his run-free start. After the Reds put up three runs in the bottom of the sixth, the tarp was put on the infield just before thunder and rain rolled through the area. Following a brief 28-minute rain delay, Graham Ashcraft started the seventh in relief of Singer. -Field Level Media
