Indiana Fever president deletes social media account after being slammed by fans for bizarre Caitlin Clark comment
The Fever are in a rough patch of form and some fans have been looking for any excuse to throw shade at the front office.
In a recent press conference, Krauskopf gave her detractors some perfect material, when she claimed she wanted to make the Fever 'as big as Apple', with some believing she put star player Clark down in the process.
Speaking to the media, the president of basketball and business operations in Indiana said: 'We want to sustain the growth and the interest level in the franchise. I mean this is about the Indiana Fever.
'Yes, we have a foundational players in Caitlin Clark... and Aliyah Boston, and we're going to add to that. But I want this team to be a leader in the country, and an enduring brand... like Apple or something. We have a real opportunity here.'
Fans immediately jumped on the comment, with one claiming: 'Enduring brands lean into their visionary. Apple became a global icon by making Steve Jobs both its visionary and its star.'
Fans have claimed she is 'fumbling' Indiana's opportunity of having the biggest name in the W
Another added: '95% of your brand is Caitlin Clark,' and a third said: 'They are fumbling this opportunity so hard. I think CC goes overseas and becomes the global superstar she could be if things don't shift by the end of her contract.'
A fourth summed up fans' feelings by posting: 'Kelly... I'd say 75% of Fever fans go where Caitlin goes. Get mad at me, but the moment CC leaves Indy is the moment I quit buying Fever tickets. This is so stupid, she has no idea how to capitalize on the moment properly. You build around CC. She is the brand right now.'
Seemingly in a bid to get away from the blowback to her comments, by Friday night Krauskopf had deleted her X account altogether, with an error message in its place.
As of Friday night, the Fever president had deleted her account on the social media site X
A win against the Atlanta Dream took the Fever's record back to .500 for the season, with 10 wins and 10 losses - but it has been far from plain sailing.
Clark has, at times, been injured, and in recent days has struggled for form on the court, with her teammates stepping up instead.
Kelsey Mitchell had 25 points and three assists on Friday, while Aliyah Boston had 19 points and Sophie Cunningham contributed 16 off the bench.

Senator slams 'woke' Minnesota Vikings over male cheerleaders and wants NFL to intervene
Former college football head coach and current United States Senator Tommy Tuberville wants the NFL to not lose its masculine image amid male cheerleaders being added to league squads. The Minnesota Vikings added two male cheerleaders to its sideline supporters for the first time a few weeks ago, a decision that has been slammed by some. Tuberville, a Donald Trump backer in his policies against biological men competing in women's sports, does not want to see the NFL fold into that inclusive narrative. 'I would like to ask the ownership of the NFL and the commissioner, what the hell are you doing?' Tuberville said to OutKick. 'If you're going to be woke, and if you're going to try to take the men out of men's sports, which is what they're doing, they're trying to take gender and try and make it more about gender than about masculinity, then you're going to have a huge problem.' 'You can see Minnesota doing it, they're one of the blue states, we've lost them, and they're more into socialism and it's about 150 genders. But at the end of the day, I hope to God it doesn't come South.' 'This is not about just a couple of people being men cheerleaders, it's about pushing a narrative about wanting to put gender into sports and let everyone know that we're going to take the masculinity out of it a little bit, and that's not going to happen in the South.' The Los Angeles Rams became the first NFL team to have male cheerleaders, adding them in 2018. In total, 12 NFL teams have male cheerleaders, including the New Orleans Saints. The Saints confirmed that there will be a total of 13 men on the 2025 Saints Cheer Krewe Roster after three women were replaced following tryouts. The Panthers, Buccaneers, Chiefs, Colts, Titans, Patriots, 49ers, Eagles, Rams, and Ravens will all feature male cheerleaders in their squad. Vikings' male cheerleader Blaize Shiek appeared to take a dig at his critics after making his NFL debut over the weekend. A rookie member of the Vikings' squad, Shiek is one of two male cheerleaders joining the sidelines ahead of the 2025 season, alongside Louie Conn. However, Shiek and Conn's inclusion in the squad has sparked shocking backlash from NFL fans, with some of Minnesota's supporters even threatening to cancel their season tickets. 'wait... did someone say our name?' Shiek wrote in the caption, referencing the furor around their inclusion.

NFL sleuths make shock discovery about Madison Beer and Justin Herbert's romance… and why it's good for the Chargers
NFL fans believe Madison Beer and Justin Herbert may have started dating as far back as December. That's because they have unearthed a picture of the singer, 26, at a Los Angeles Chargers game on December 19. She was at SoFi Stadium to watch her rumored beau in a Thursday Night Football game between the Chargers and Denver Broncos. Those same fans also noticed just how impressive Herbert played that night, with some claiming he was out to impress the pop star. Against one of the NFL's meanest defenses, Herbert completed 23 of his 31 passes for 284 yards, two touchdowns and an interception as the Charges won 34-27. There was one particular highlight, which saw him make a ridiculous throw and lead Los Angeles to 15 points in the fourth quarter. Fans believe Herbert was 'showing off' in that game and they 'need her to attend every game' Upon discovering she was at the game and watching Herbert's highlights, Chargers fans now want her there more often as the new season approaches. One commented: 'Demon showing off lmao. Gonna need her to attend every game I fear.' Another said: 'Bro about to turn into MVP Lamar (Jackson) this year,' referencing the outstanding Baltimore Ravens quarterback. One quipped the Chargers are 'gonna need her in Brazil', referencing their Week 1 game in Sao Paulo against the Kansas City Chiefs. Another bold predicted with Beer watching on, the 'Super Bowl is a lock' and 'Herbert is winning MVP'. Attention was drawn to Beer and Herbert's potential relationship this week when he was spotted on the set of her latest music video on Sunday. The 6ft 6 quarterback, who was once NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, towered over 5ft 6 Beer, who was wearing angel wings as part of the production in Los Angeles. She was spotted at a house in Hancock Park, where the shoot ran throughout the day, wearing what appeared to be a nightshirt. Madison posed with a heart locket and a tiny heart ring. Later she introduced Herbert to various crew members before they left together in Herbert's car. The singer and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback were pictured chatting between filming Beer has previously dated TikTok star Nick Austin and briefly David Beckham's son Brooklyn Beer, 26, shot to fame in recent years after Justin Bieber shared one of her covers on YouTube and she has since gone on to become a household name. Beer, who has previously dated TikTok star Nick Austin and briefly David Beckham's son Brooklyn, has 20.5million TikTok and 40.1m Instagram followers. The singer's latest album, MB3, is set to be released later this year. Herbert was drafted by the Chargers with the sixth overall pick in 2020. He went on to win that year's Offensive Rookie of the Year prize. He signed a five-year contract worth $262.5m in 2023 but has only made the playoffs twice in five seasons, owing to being in the same division as the Kansas City Chiefs.

Alcaraz and Raducanu bulldozed by Draper and Pegula in revamped US Open mixed doubles
After many long months of discussion and anticipation, the doubles partnership between Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz came and went in the blink of an eye in front of a well‑populated Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd. Despite ample smiles and enjoyment on the court, they were bulldozed in a battle of British No 1s by a sharp Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula, who reached the quarter-finals of the revamped mixed‑doubles competition with a 4-2, 4-2 win. In a draw filled with unusual partnerships, the first bracket of the mixed doubles draw was particularly striking. Draper and Raducanu are childhood friends and they have known each other since the days when they were rising up the national rankings in Britain while dreaming of becoming professional players. When the US Open announced its 'reimagined' mixed‑doubles competition in February, a partnership between them seemed like the most logical option. Instead, they found themselves against each other in the biggest tennis stadium in the world. Raducanu had played just three doubles tournaments in her entire career and the match started with a reminder of her lack of doubles prowess as she sprayed a backhand drive volley far wide. That first point set the tone for a difficult day on-court as she was continually vulnerable, particularly at the net. Draper and Alcaraz have similarly competed infrequently on the doubles court, but the British player was much sharper and determined to dominate. He played a great match, confidently closing down the net while punching holes in his opponents with his heavy topspin forehand. He showed his old friend Raducanu no mercy at all, successfully targeting her throughout. Having arrived in New York at 12.50am after his triumph at the Cincinnati Open on Monday afternoon, Alcaraz had every reason to feel uncomfortable. His own lack of experience in doubles was also evident as he was unable to take pressure off his struggling partner by imposing himself at the net. Even in defeat, the Spaniard still left with the best shot of the match. Early in the second set, Alcaraz chased down an angled forehand from Draper and flicked a spectacular forehand winner around the net post. Raducanu, who had actually given up on the point due to the quality of Draper's forehand, put her hands to her head and stared at her genius doubles partner in wonder. Perhaps the most significant result from this match was Draper's mere presence on the court. He has not competed since his second‑round defeat at Wimbledon last month after opting to withdraw from the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Open with a left forearm injury. After his blistering start to the season, his year has cooled in recent months because of injury and a couple of difficult defeats at the French Open and Wimbledon. Here, he looked fit and ready to tackle the rest of the season. While the partnership between Raducanu and Alcaraz has dominated the headlines since it was announced, the pairing of Draper and Pegula took a while to form. Draper had signed up initially to compete alongside the Olympic gold medallist Zheng Qinwen and then Paula Badosa, but both players withdrew from the US Open with significant injuries. Draper has inadvertently stumbled on to one of the best possible partners. In stark contrast to the three completely inexperienced doubles players around her, Pegula is one of the most accomplished players across both singles and doubles, the current singles No 4 and a former doubles No 1. Her solid baseline play and intelligence on the court provided Draper with the platform to thrive, and they will try to continue this great form. Alcaraz was not the only player with a rapid turnaround from the Cincinnati Open. Iga Swiatek did not finish her media duties until around 10pm and both she and Alcaraz were ferried from Cincinnati on a private jet. Just over 13 hours after finishing her work in Ohio, she was on-court training with her new doubles partner, Casper Ruud. Sign up to The Recap The best of our sports journalism from the past seven days and a heads-up on the weekend's action after newsletter promotion No matter, Swiatek swept on to Arthur Ashe stadium and followed up her Cincinnati triumph with two clean wins to reach the quarter‑finals. The Pole has already put together a number of incredible performances in her occasional mixed‑doubles appearances at the United Cup and in a different state, court and format from her victory against Jasmine Paolini on Monday evening, she was excellent from the beginning alongside Ruud. Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, the defending champions and the only doubles specialist team in the draw, marched through the rounds in pursuit of another title – and justice for the doubles specialists who have been squeezed out of the competition in order to accommodate the singles stars. From the first ball of their opening‑round match against the singles stars Taylor Fritz and Elena Rybakina, the Italian pairing were on a mission and they carried themselves like a team determined to represent all doubles players. Every point was played with manic intensity, especially from Errani, with their screams of 'allez' and 'vamos' directly punctuating almost every success. Most importantly, they played flawlessly, erecting a wall at the net and picking apart their inexperienced opponents as they eased to straight‑sets wins against Fritz and Elena Rybakina, then Karolina Muchova and Andrey Rublev.
