Completed New York Times Mini crossword for Saturday, July 12.
It took me 2:05 to complete today's NYT Mini.
Not a horrible time for a Saturday Mini! On my first pass of the Across words, I only got CUBA, BLUESKY and AUDREY. I think the clue for 7 Across is perhaps too broad of a generalization of that platform, but it is what it is.
Moving to the Down direction, I only missed CAMERAS and UNUSED there. The answers that I did find helped me clean things up on the Across direction.
See you tomorrow for more NYT Mini fun!

Is the ‘Superman' 2025 Movie Streaming on Netflix or HBO Max?
It's neither a bird nor a plane—it's the new Superman 2025 movie that's soaring into theaters this weekend. It's been less than a decade since star Henry Cavill hung up his cape following Zack Snyder's Justice League films, but the DC Extended Cinematic Universe is back at again with yet another Superman reboot. This time around, director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, Suicide Squad) takes the reigns, and David Corenswet stars as the Man of Steel, aka Kal-El, aka Clark Kent. Clark is an alien from the planet Krypton who crash-landed on Earth in Smallville, Kansas and was adopted by a human family. Under Earth's yellow sun, Clark has all kinds of powers, including flying, super-strength, super-speed, X-ray vision, and more. The new Superman movie also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Superman's love interest; and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Superman's nemesis. Additional cast includes Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced. Reviews have been positive thus far, so here's what to know about how to watch the Superman 2025 movie and when we expect to be able to watch the Superman 2025 movie on streaming. Right now, the 2025 Superman movie is only available to watch in a movie theater when it opens in theaters on Friday, July 11 You can find a showing near you via Fandango. However, we do expect the Superman movie to be on streaming eventually. Superman is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Warner Bros. release, will have a streaming home on the Warner Bros.-owned streaming service, HBO Max. If you want to watch the new Superman movie at home, you'll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on HBO Max. If you're new to Max, you can sign up for as low as $9.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $16.99/month. MAX DISNEY+ BUNDLES If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you're at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and Max. With ads, the bundle costs $16.99/month and without ads, $29.99/month. The Superman 2025 HBO Max release date has not yet been announced, but we expect to see the new Superman man streaming on Max sometime this year. All the new WB theatrical movies end up streaming on Max, though the wait period has varied by title. Another recent WB movie, Sinners was released on PVOD about a month and a half after opening in theaters, and began streaming on HBO Max on July 4, about two-and-a-half months after it was released in theaters. If Superman 2025 follows a similar release pattern, you may see the movie on digital around late August 2025, and streaming on Max around early October 2025. But that's pure speculation. The Warner Bros. home releases have varied by title. If you want to see the new Superman movie ASAP, your best is to catch Superman in theaters.

NYT ‘Connections' Hints And Answers For Sunday, July 13th
Hints, clues and answers for today's Connections are here. Looking for Saturday's NYT Connections hints, clues and answers instead? You can find them here: We're just about halfway through the lovely summer month of July, one of two months named for old, dead Roman dictators. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and we have another Connections to solve. As always, I will be your handy Sunday edition Connections guide. This one wasn't too bad, but if you need some helpful clues to set you on your path, read onward, dearest Connectioneers! How To Play Connections Connections is the second-most popular NYT Games puzzle game outside of the main crossword itself, and an extremely fun, free offering that will get your brain moving every day. Play it right here. The goal is to take a group of 16 words and find links between four pairs of four of them. They could be specific categories of terms, or they could be little world puzzles where words may come before or after them you need to figure out. And they get more complicated from there. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder There is only one set of right answers for this, and you only get a certain number of tries so you can't just spam around until you find something. There are difficulty tiers coded by color, which will usually go from yellow, blue/green to purple as difficulty increases, so know that going in and when you start linking them together. You pick the four words you think are linked and either you will get a solve and a lit up row that shows you how you were connected. If you're close, it will tell you that you're one away. Again, four mistakes you lose, but if you want to know the answers without failing, either come here, or delete your web cookies and try again. If you want to play more puzzles, you can get an NYT Games subscription to access the full archives of all past puzzles. What Are Today's Connections Hints? NYT Connections July 12th These are the hints that are laid out on the puzzle board itself, but after that, we will get into spoiler territory with some hints and eventually the answers. Here are today's words: ZIP CAB RAG ZING BUBBLY GLOSSY NUMBER ZINE EXPIRATION SLIGHT NAME ZIN KNOCK MAG CHARD BURN What Are Today's Connections Groups? Alright, the full spoilers follow here as we get into what the groups are today: What Are Today's Connections Answers? The full-on answers are below for each group, finally inserting the four words in each category. Spoilers follow if you do not want to get this far. The Connections answers are: NYT Connections July 12th answers I think the puzzle setter was trying to confuse people with BURN and CHARD here, but of course you spell the latter CHARRED. Overall, I found this one pretty easy, and even the purple group was pretty obvious – BUBBLY is champagne, CAB is cabernet, CHARD, is chardonay, ZIN is zinfandel. Green was the trickiest one for me, obviously, but once you put them all side-by-side it's pretty obvious that these are things you find on a credit card. How did you do on today's Connections? Video Explores Why Alfred Molina's Doc Ock Still Rules: A Look Back at SPIDER-MAN 2's Iconic Villain — GeekTyrant
CinemaStix dropped a fantastic video essay that digs into why Alfred Molina's Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2 remains one of the greatest comic book villains ever put on screen. The breakdown highlights how Sam Raimi's team used practical effects and intricate puppetry to animate those terrifying tentacles in medium and close-up shots, giving the character a physicality that still holds up. Molina's performance grounds Otto Octavius with real humanity, making his descent into villainy all the more tragic. It's a rare blend of performance and craftsmanship that few superhero films have matched since.
