RAM Signs New Partnership to Boost TravelTech, Digital Innovation
This partnership is part of Morocco's national strategy, Digital Morocco 2030, and follows the directions of King Mohammed VI.
According to an official statement, the goal behind the partnership, which is part of the Digital Morocco 2030 national strategy, is to 'speed up innovation in the travel sector' and make Morocco 'a key hub for TravelTech in Africa.'
The agreement focuses on three main goals to support digital change in the airline and travel sectors. First, RAM will act as the official airline for GITEX Africa. This will give the national carrier more visibility and offer special travel deals for participants and African startups.
Second, the three partners aim to boost Morocco's TravelTech ecosystem by identifying, supporting, and promoting innovative startups in travel and air transport. To do this, they will launch programs like the RAM Digital Open Innovation initiative, regional roadshows, mentorship programs, and a new national label called 'TravelTech Innovator.'
The partnership also promotes sharing knowledge and working together. There will be training sessions, experience-sharing events, and co-development of digital solutions to encourage stronger collaboration between public and private sectors, as well as startups.
Finally, the agreement includes specific actions to help private travel businesses go digital. These include access to platforms like Moukawala Raqmya and Academia Raqmya, along with awareness workshops to improve digital skills in the industry.

Rabat – Cybersecurity researchers have identified Morocco as the main African target in a rapidly expanding global cybercrime operation using a sophisticated Android Remote Access Trojan (RAT) known as PlayPraetor. The large-scale campaign, orchestrated by Chinese-speaking threat actors, has infected more than 11,000 devices worldwide in under three months. While Europe remains the primary focus, with Portugal, Spain, and France recording the highest infection rates, a report by Cleafy Threat Intelligence said Morocco is the continent's most significant hotspot. 'Accounting for 22% of total infections, the botnet's footprint in Africa is characterised by a geographically dispersed activity, with the clear exception of Morocco, which has emerged as the continent's primary hotspot,' reads the report. The malware is spread through fraudulent Google Play Store pages and enables full real-time control of infected smartphones. Once installed, it can steal banking credentials, intercept SMS messages, capture screenshots, and even stream the victim's screen live to cybercriminals. The RAT is part of a Malware-as-a-Service (MaaS) model, which allows multiple criminal affiliates to run independent campaigns while using shared infrastructure. Moroccan victims are believed to be targeted primarily in French and Arabic. The growing Arabic-language infections, which saw a sharp spike in late June, may signal an intensifying wave of attacks against users in Morocco and across North Africa. The malware's operators have been continuously updating its capabilities, which makes it harder to detect and block. 'A final, telling development is the sudden, sharp spike in Arabic-speaking victims in the last week, which may signal the opening of another major campaign front,' added the report. Mixed performance across categories The report indicated that while Morocco excels in several areas, it faces challenges in others. The country ranks 37th out of 44 nations for international mobility and access to full citizenship rights. However, Morocco compensates for these weaknesses with strong performances in other crucial areas. The North African country achieves impressive rankings in economics (7th place), quality of life (16th place), and integration (24th place). Rabat – University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) is joining forces with partners like Africa CEO Forum to launch Lead, a new pan-African initiative seeking to boost Africa's economic potential. A joint statement said that the partnership also includes the Arab Bank for Economic Development in AFRICA (BADEA) and Afreximbank. UM6P will host Lead at its Rabat campus to build a network of civil servants that will design and implement public policies that address challenges. 'The initiative responds to a paradox that has defined Africa's development trajectory over the past two decades,' the statement said, asserting Lead's commitment to unlock the continent's potential and close the gaps in public service delivery. The joint statement acknowledged that the translation of Africa's growth into approved governance and citizen welfare has lagged behind that of other regions. UM6P President Hicham El Habti commented on the new initiative, saying Africa lacks the institutional conditions to turn public vision into lasting progress. He reiterated the university's commitment to supporting Lead, which he sees as an opportunity to cultivate the skills, networks, and institutional intelligence to drive Africa's transformation. 'It is about building systems that are responsive, rooted, and future-oriented,' he argued. The university's statement also recalled a new generation of policy challenges, including forecasts that the continent's population is set to double in 2050.
