Defamation case: Caprice ordered to ‘archive' 31 posts
KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has ordered rapper Caprice to archive 31 allegedly defamatory Instagram posts targeting entrepreneur Muhammad Asyraf Khalid. Judge Datuk Anand Ponnudurai granted an ex-parte ad-interim injunction following a suit filed by Muhammad Asyraf, stepson of Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin. Lawyer Abdul Hakeem Aiman confirmed the posts must be archived immediately until the inter-parte injunction hearing on September 2. Caprice, whose real name is Ariz Ramli, has yet to file a defence statement in response to the lawsuit. Muhammad Asyraf initiated the suit on August 4, citing defamatory posts published between July 30 and August 2. The posts allegedly portrayed Muhammad Asyraf negatively for hosting Murad Zaidi, his personal trainer, on a podcast. 'I invited Murad to discuss gym management challenges and clarify his Instagram statements denying allegations,' said Muhammad Asyraf. The posts also insinuated that Muhammad Asyraf misused family influence as the son of Datuk Seri Khalid Mohammad Jiwa. Despite not airing the full podcast episode, Caprice continued attacking Muhammad Asyraf publicly. The lawsuit claims Caprice's actions led to public backlash and tarnished Muhammad Asyraf's reputation. Muhammad Asyraf seeks an injunction to prevent further defamatory posts and demands their removal within 24 hours. He also requests a public video apology from Caprice across all social media platforms. The plaintiff is seeking general damages, aggravated damages, and legal costs. The case will proceed with an inter-parte hearing on September 2. - Bernama

FA Cup: NSFC Beat PDRM 5-0, Kelantan TRW Down KL City 3-1
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) are likely to advance to the quarterfinal stage of the 2025 FA Cup after they beat PDRM FC 5-0 in the first leg of the Round of 16 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi tonight. NSFC showed their dominance by scoring in the first minute courtesy of a free kick by Jovan Motika from outside the penalty box and things got better when PDRM FC were forced to play with only 10 men when Agbre Noel received a red card for a foul on Joseph Esso in the ninth minute. Even with the one player advantage, the home team would have to wait till nearly the end of the first half to score their second goal through Motika in the 40th minute, and then a third by Esso just before the half time whistle blew.

Court orders Caprice to archive Instagram posts on entrepreneur
Rapper Caprice is being sued by entrepreneur Asyraf Khalid over Instagram posts that allegedly accused him of abusing his family ties and influence. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The Kuala Lumpur High Court today ordered rapper Caprice to archive 31 allegedly defamatory posts about an entrepreneur from his Instagram account. Lawyer Abdul Hakeem Aiman said Justice Anand Ponnudurai made the ruling after allowing an ex parte ad interim injunction sought by Asyraf Khalid against Caprice, whose real name is Ariz Ramli, 39. 'All publications issued by the defendant (Caprice) relating to or referring to the plaintiff (Asyraf) must be archived starting today until the disposal of the inter parte injunction application, which will be heard on Sept 2,' Bernama quoted Hakeem as saying. He said Caprice has not yet filed a statement of defence. Asyraf, 33, filed the suit on Aug 4, claiming that Caprice had published 31 allegedly defamatory posts against him on his Instagram profile between July 30 and Aug 2. He said the defamatory posts involved a podcast where a personal trainer, Murad Zaidi, appeared. 'I invited Murad so that he could share his experience in running a gym and the challenges he faced,' he said. Asyraf claimed Caprice's posts subjected him to public ridicule, dragged his father, Khalid Mohamad Jiwa (better known as Datuk K), into the dispute and tarnished his family's reputation. Asyraf is seeking an injunction to stop Caprice and his associates from repeating or sharing the posts and their removal from social media within 24 hours of judgment. He is also seeking a public video apology on all of Caprice's platforms, as well as general damages, aggravated damages, costs and other relief deemed appropriate by the court.
