Neighbours filming wraps on Ramsay Street for the last time

Metro04-07-2025
It's the end of an era – Neighbours has filmed the last ever scenes on Ramsay Street today.
The fictional cul-de-sac has been at the centre of the drama for over 40 years, but today the cameras stopped rolling on the real life location that doubles as the famous homes.
Cast and crew gathered on Pin Oak Court in Vermont South, which is occupied by real residents who allow their houses to be used for exterior shots, for what is likely to be the final time.
This comes following Amazon Prime Video's decision to pull the plug earlier this year, just two years on from announcing that they were reviving the Australian soap.
Executive producer Jason Herbison, who has overseen the show in both its formats over many years, still has hope that it can have a future.
In a statement he said: 'Audiences all around the world have loved and embraced Neighbours for four decades and we are very proud of the huge success over the last two years including often appearing as one of the top 10 titles in the UK and the show's first ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Daytime Series in 2024.
'As this chapter closes, we appreciate and thank Amazon MGM Studios for all that they have done for Neighbours – bringing this iconic and much-loved series to new audiences globally.'
Metro understands that the last ever scenes from the serial's production base in Nunawading will be recorded on Friday, July 11 – one week today. https://www.instagram.com/p/DLqd5AiTtXm/?igsh=NjFwMnc4bWZnNnVv
On Instagram, show legend Annie Jones, who first appeared as Jane Harris in 1986, shared a photo of her in a car with Hannah Monson, who has played Nicolette Stone since the revival.
'On our way to Ramsay St for the LAST time,' she wrote.
Sara West, who joined as Cara Varga-Murphy in 2023, uploaded a similar picture with co-stars Naomi Rukavina and Riley Bryant, who play Cara's wife Remi and their son JJ.
She cheekily edited Marley Williams, who plays their younger son Dex into the snap, writing: 'Last ride down to Ramsay St.' More Trending
Meanwhile, show icon Rebekah Elmaloglou was stood at the bottom of a gloomy Pin Oak Court, adding: 'Farewell Ramsay Street!' to her emotional shot.

The site has become somewhat of a tourist destination over the last four decades, with fans from around the world – including myself – making the pilgrimage.
Those who live in the court are bound by a contract that means they're not allowed to do any cosmetic work to their properties without permission from producers. Now that cameras have stopped rolling, that could soon change.

'I hate modern dating after hosting one of Netflix's biggest ever shows'

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video In a world of reality TV showmances, wannabe influencers and frustratingly toxic men, Love Is Blind UK hosts Emma and Matt Willis are a breath of fresh air amid the deluge of dating shows. I was completely charmed by the celebrity couple last year when I interviewed them for the first season of the long-awaited UK spin-off of one of Netflix's most popular reality shows. They were endearingly nervous about their debut as a married couple helming a show about finding love, shared playful quips about what to order for lunch and had a quiet confidence that proved their real-life and on-screen chemistry. When I met up with them again this year for Metro to discuss season 2, which launches today, the nerves had evaporated, but all the charm had, happily, stayed. For those not in the know, the premise of the hit reality show is all about proving that lasting love is so much more than skin deep. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. So, 30 people ready for marriage date each other in 'pods' for a week, getting to know each other from behind a wall without seeing each other, and the lucky couples who make a connection get engaged. By the end of the experiment, after meeting one another in the flesh and spending time together in the outside world, they must decide whether they will say 'I do' at the altar. Throughout the process, our trusty co-hosts jet in and out to guide them through from one stage to the next. As we kick off our chat about their return, the 17 years of marriage between the Big Brother presenter and Busted star shines through when I point out their matching blue clothes. 'Last year, we were quite nervous. This year, we were much more relaxed,' Emma says about returning to the show. They were well aware of the tough task ahead of them when launching the latest spin-off (there are currently eight international versions). 'We really wanted the UK one to be as good as all of the others and I think it surpassed our expectations, because it had everything. 'It had heart, it had a very British sense of humour,' the TV host adds, with hopes that season two meets the high standard season one set for fans. The British power couple, who share three children, have had their ups and downs over the years, but if hosting Love Is Blind has made them 'grateful' for one thing, it is that they met in the early 2000s before online dating took off. 'The one thing I've taken [from hosting the show] – and it's not so much a reflection on our relationship, but a reflection on the world of dating generally – is, I'm really glad I'm not single,' Emma says. 'I wouldn't want to be on dating apps. I know a lot of people on them, and they just moan about them all the time. I think I'd get so frustrated with doing everything on a device.' The idea of meeting organically (a more and more foreign concept for Gen Z) is what attracted them to this show in the first place. 'I think that is a whole world better than trying to navigate [the] beginning of a relationship through a phone, which must be so difficult,' Emma adds. Matt agrees: 'Absolutely, I think messages can get so misconstrued.' When I ask them about their dating app green and red flags, we briefly go on a side tangent about the turn-off factor of posting a photo of yourself holding a fish (it's a whole thing) to a completely baffled Emma. As such, Matt decides a fish picture 'doesn't sound cool' while Emma ponders hers would 'probably be an overly posed picture'. 'I think if it were someone in a pair of shorts and nothing else… I'm getting the ick just thinking about it,' she jokes. So, naturally, I ask if the show had been around when they were single, would they have gone on it – and their answers explained a lot about why they are such a perfect fit. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Emma called the process 'fantastic' but had one caveat. 'I don't know if I could get married after six weeks because I'm a chronic overthinker and I like to know everything,' she admits with a wry smile. Matt, on the other hand, is ready to leap headfirst, joking, 'I could. I'd be like, 'Let's do it.'' He shares: 'I think it'd be really fun to see what that experience is like, talking to someone and doing the experiment. I think it'd be such an exciting thing to do.' Lucky for them, neither has to worry about getting hitched to a near-stranger in six weeks or navigating the treacherous world of Tinder. They'll happily watch on, however. Season one saw plenty of highs and lows, with fan-favourite couple Bobby and Jasmine recently announcing they're expecting their first child. It's clear both Emma and Matt are delighted, with the former recalling that the loved-up pair were 'hook, line and sinker from the beginning', and she could tell they were 'totally smitten' right up to the reunion. Matt adds he's 'so stoked for them'. Of course, the premiere season also included some controversial characters, not least Sam, who was briefly engaged to Nicole (now married to Benaiah), who became the latest 'toxic' reality TV man to spark concerned fan discourse. Viewers can expect different things from the new episodes, Emma teases. 'I think they're a really likeable cast. There's not really any divisive characters, I don't think. Obviously, Sam last year was quite a divisive character. I don't think we have a Sam,' she says. Love Is Blind marks the latest show the pair have jointly tackled in recent years, in addition to their candid therapy docuseries, Change Your Mind, Change Your Life. While working together might be out of the question for some couples, that's not the case for these two. Matt explains: '[I love] everything about [my] job, but then I always have to be away from Emma, away from the family. So the chance to work with her is brilliant. 'I've always been jealous of her job. I've been in a sweaty tour bus with stinky boys. This is way more fun, got a glam squad now, love it.' As for what's next, Emma is clearly enthusiastic about the future of their professional partnership, saying they're ready to do 'eight more seasons' of Love Is Blind. But they have other ideas brewing as well. 'I'd like to do something adventurous. I don't know if it's a travel show – just some kind of adventure. I love shows like Race Across the World. I think that's so much fun, but there's a point to it,' Emma says. More Trending As in sync as ever, Matt agrees. Who knows what's next for this dynamic duo, who are proving themselves to be a formidable force on British reality TV. For now, however, they have a brand new cohort of unlucky-in-love singles to welcome to the pods. So, let the blush-inducing courtship commence. The first four episodes of Love Is Blind UK season two are out now. Got a story? Yes, Jen and Gwyneth do gossip about Brad

She was once known as Poor Jen, whose army of fans branded themselves Team Aniston when her fiancé Brad Pitt upped and left for Angelina Jolie in 2005. Now the 56-year-old former Friends star Jennifer Aniston admits that she and her good friend Gwyneth Paltrow still gossip about the man who proposed to them both. 'How can we not?' she tells Vanity Fair this month. 'We're girls!' It's worth pointing out that, in Amy Odell's unauthorised biography of the Goop founder, 52, also out this month, Paltrow is alleged to have described Pitt as 'dumber than a sack of shit'. Welcome to the era of Hollywood's unfiltered over-50s — women who were previously either publicly pitied or universally loathed (often simultaneously) after media coverage painted them in a certain light but who, via social media and the internet, have found new platforms to portray themselves, if not exactly warts and all, then in a way that more closely resembles the people they are. 'There's obviously some PTSD we all have,' Aniston told Vanity Fair this week, 'which is why [interviews] scare me. I didn't have a strong enough constitution not to be affected by it [back then].' These days, she and her cohort are broadcasting in their own right instead. Gwyneth has her Goop emails, viral vagina candles and an occasional series of Instagram reels she dubs 'boyfriend breakfasts' in which she cooks things such as 'paleo lobster Benedict' for her husband, Brad Falchuk, while dressed in luxury Italian pyjamas that cost more than your best coat. Also on Insta, Aniston shares selfies with her dog, candid gym shots from her signature Pvolve low-impact training sessions and, yes, brand partnerships to her 45 million followers. 'My friends call me Jen,' proclaims her bio, with that very same girl-next-door likeability that proved lethal when the tabloids pitted her against the supposed femme fatale Jolie. • Jennifer Aniston's rules for life 'No one wanted the ladies to be friends,' supplies Aniston's pal Sandra Bullock. 'It was about pitting everyone against each other. We weren't supposed to like and respect and honour each other.' Yet the leading ladies coterie is a catfight no longer, as those famous for being in front of the camera begin to go off-script beyond its gaze. Aniston's Morning Show co-star Reese Witherspoon, 49, has her own book club and media production company, Hello Sunshine, which allows her not only to pick plum roles she likes the look of but to present her more homely side to 30 million people on Instagram. Here's Reese struggling to open a champagne bottle while her adoring family look on; here she is again, so winningly self-deprecating that even the dog is tired of her antics. It goes far beyond the realm of the most-topics-off-limits celebrity interview policed to uncontroversial blandness by rottweiler Hollywood publicists in the room who might jump in to nix a bone-close question. These are still edited highlights, of course, but this version gives fans what they prize most in the internet age: relatability. Because, even though Aniston lives in a $21 million mid-century mansion designed by the renowned A Quincy Jones with 24/7 security in the Hollywood Hills, we all still want to believe that she's just like one of us — even though, to be her neighbour, you too would need to be a gazillionaire dwelling in an ivory tower, just like her.

Shrek 5 release date is delayed until 2027 as fans say they all 'know why'

The release of Shrek 5 has been delayed until summer 2027. The upcoming DreamWorks' movie — whose teaser was slammed by fans — has been pushed back six months, moving from December 23, 2026 to June 30, 2027. Upon hearing the news, initially reported by Variety, fans commented online that they 'know why' the beloved franchise's latest installment has been stalled. 'We all know why,' Instagram user @taco_chacos wrote, while @solomon_br0 demanded, 'Fix that animation.' Eagle-eyed viewers called out the studio earlier this year after they noticed changes to Shrek's appearance. They accused animators of giving the titular character 'rhinoplasty, lip filler, cheek implants, and a jaw shave' among other tweaks. Upon hearing the news, initially reported by Variety, fans commented online that they 'know why' the beloved franchise's latest installment has been stalled Another person reacted, 'Good! Hope that means they're fixing the animation and writing.' Someone else addd confidently: 'They're changing the character design, we all know that.' 'Hopefully this means they're changing the character design,' another moviegoer echoed. And @zenskittles contributed, 'Still time to change the character designs,' with crossed fingers. @emilyjeffri wishfully wrote that the delay is to 'hopefully make the animation look somewhat similar' to the previous movies. Others urged the studio to take its time while making adjustments to the project. 'Take your time DreamWorks. Take your time,' @maxhechtman advised. @adamcanterbury94 shared a GIF that read: 'That's okay, I'll wait!!' Variety reported that 'the studio didn't give a reason for the hold-up,' but Deadline attributed it to the summer being a 'better' season for the debut. @emilyjeffri wishfully wrote that the delay is to 'hopefully make the animation look somewhat similar' to the previous movie It's the second delay for the film, which was originally slated for a July 2026 release. The new Shrek flick will be the first film in the main series since Shrek Forever After was released in 2010 and sees Zendaya join the cast as the titular ogre's daughter Felicia. Meanwhile, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz will return to lend their voices to Shrek, Donkey and Fiona respectively. Eddie has suggested that Shrek 5 will be packed full of comedy just as the preceding films have been. The 64-year-old actor told Extra in June: 'I've recorded some great stuff. You know, we don't get a full script when we do the Shrek movies. We get the dialogue that we're doing for each session. And I know I've been doing some really funny stuff.' Eddie explained that he will only get to see his co-stars at the premiere of the movie as all of his voice work for the picture was done alone. He said: 'At the end of the movie or when the movie comes out, we see each other at the premiere, but we don't see each other the whole movie. 'It's all just you by yourself and a microphone.' The Hollywood fixture revealed that Donkey is getting his own standalone film that will begin production in September. Asked if Shrek 5's animation is being worked on now, he told ScreenRant in July: 'No, they're still doing voiceover stuff. We're still in the booth, and literally, we're still doing Shrek. 'We start in September on Donkey. We're doing a Donkey one, and that'll be three years from now, but we're about two years into Shrek 5. Still in the booth and about to start Donkey in September.' The Beverly Hills Cop star confirmed that Donkey will be getting in his own film in the same way that Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) has previously and that the picture will see him have his 'own little story with his dragon wife.' 'They've written this funny story. We're doing that, starting that in September,' he reiterated. The prospect of Shrek 5 was first discussed by Illumination founder Chris Meledandri in 2023 as he expressed hope of reuniting the original cast for the movie. The film producer told Variety: 'We anticipate the cast coming back. Talks are starting now, and every indication that we've gotten is there's tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return.'
