Cubs' Justin Steele Sends Strong Message Amid Pete Crow-Armstrong's Big Night
Cubs' Justin Steele Sends Strong Message Amid Pete Crow-Armstrong's Big Night originally appeared on Athlon Sports. During the Chicago Cubs game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Pete Crow-Armstrong went super-human to help secure the Cubs the 5-3 win. Amid Crow-Armstrong putting together an incredible night, Cubs starter Justin Steele made two posts on X, showering the young center fielder with praise. The first post from Steele simply called Crow-Armstrong as "MVPete!!!" With the Cubs center fielder putting on a show defensively, and hitting a 450+ foot home run in the eighth inning to give the Cubs a much-needed insurance run, calling Crow-Armstrong an MVP isn't undeserved. Advertisement Steele then followed his first post on X up with another one, which claimed Crow-Armstrong is much-watch television. "PCA is must watch television right now. Every time he takes the field; stop what you're doing and just watch. He has whatever 'IT' is." The praise for Crow-Armstrong comes amid an incredible season, which has led him to be slotted in as an All-Star starter and one of the best outfielders in baseball. His defense and offense have made Crow-Armstrong, in the words of Steele, "must watch television." Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong (4) hits a home run against the Milwaukee Brewers during the eighth inning at Wrigley Banks-Imagn Images Crow-Armstrong is batting .270 with 19 home runs and 58 RBIs to begin the year. On the year, Crow-Armstrong has 76 hits, 52 runs scored, 16 doubles, three triples, 23 stolen bases, 14 walks, and 73 strikeouts. His offensive production has been some of the best in the sport, and he's even better defensively. Advertisement According to Baseball Savant, Crow-Armstrong has an Outs Above Average (OAA) of 12, second in all of baseball to only Bobby Witt Jr. Crow-Armstrong has the highest OAA of all outfielders and has been making highlight reel plays night after night in center for the Cubs. The praise from Steele comes amid Crow-Armstrong's breakout season. He's been one of the most electric players in the sport in 2025, and every night, he's seemingly doing something remarkable. Cubs fans and Steele are likely to agree; Crow-Armstrong is "must-watch television" every night he steps out onto the field. Jazz Chisholm Jr. homers against Angels to end 30-inning scoreless streak for the Yankees
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Yankees ended their 30-inning scoreless streak Wednesday night when Jazz Chisholm Jr. homered in the second inning against the Los Angeles Angels. Trailing 1-0, the Yankees ended their run-scoring drought when Chisholm sent a 2-0 pitch from Los Angeles starter Jack Konchanowicz into the seats in right field. The ball stayed just inside the foul pole and Chisholm, and his 10th homer of the season, was celebrated in the dugout with his teammates. The run was New York's first since Anthony Volpe hit an RBI groundout in the ninth inning of its 4-3 loss at Boston on Saturday. It was the seventh-longest scoreless streak in team history and seven behind the team record set Sept 3-8, 1908 against Washington, when Walter Johnson pitched three straight complete games against the Yankees. It was New York's longest scoreless streak since going 33 innings without a run Sept. 22-25, 2016. The Yankees ended that streak when Didi Gregorius homered in the seventh inning at Toronto. The last team to get blanked in four straight games was the Kansas City Royals, who were scoreless for 45 innings Aug. 24-29, 2017. The major league scoreless record is 48 innings, held by the 1968 Chicago Cubs and 1906 Philadelphia Athletics. New York's 4-0 loss on Tuesday marked the seventh time in team history it was blanked in three straight games, but only the third instance in the past 50 years. New York began Wednesday with five straight losses and mustered only five runs in its past six games, including a 1-0 win last Thursday in Kansas City. The last time the Yankees scored five runs or fewer in a six-game span was August 1968. Despite the recent struggles, the Yankees lead the AL with a plus-98 run differential. New York also entered Wednesday leading the AL with 109 homers and 373 runs. ___ More AP baseball:
