Chandrababu Naidu elected TDP national president unanimously
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) completed the formality of electing N. Chandrababu Naidu as the party's national president unanimously at the Mahanadu here on Wednesday.
Party election committee chairman Varla Ramaiah announced Mr. Naidu's election to the top party post and administered the oath to him amid thunderous applause.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Naidu said he was thankful to everyone for giving him the responsibility yet again, and that collective efforts should be made to translate the six resolutions (that were passed earlier) into reality. The resolutions laid the roadmap for the next 40 years, he said, and pointed out that the TDP weathered many a storm in the last 43 years, and asserted that it had the capacity to be a vibrant entity for many more years to come.
Some of the challenges successfully faced by the TDP were Naxalism and factionalism, and more recently, land scams, ganja and drugs and many other things during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) rule. He observed that law and order had gone for a toss in 2019-24 and the situation was getting to normal under the NDA regime.
Mr. Naidu said he gave due priority to the development of Rayalaseema with focus on completing the long-pending irrigation projects, and that the interlinking of rivers would make the parched region fertile.
The State was able to garner substantial funding from the Central government for the construction of Amaravati and several other projects with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said.
Mr. Naidu stated that the Polavaram project would be completed and dedicated to the nation by the end of 2027.
The TDP supremo said the government had drawn up plans to transform Visakhapatnam into a financial hub, and that he opposed the privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and was in the process of getting ArcelorMittal-Nippon Steel to set up a huge plant in Anakapalli district.
He announced that foundation would be laid for the Kadapa steel plant in 10 days and expressed confidence that he would be the one inaugurating it. The three-Million-tonne per annum steel plant was being established by the Jindal Group in two phases at a cost of ₹9,000 crore.
The government was developing industrial parks in all the 175 constituencies, setting up Ratan Tata Innovation Hubs in Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, and Anantapur. Due focus had been laid on improving the lot of farmers, Mr. Naidu said, while affirming that the government was moving forward with a fine balance between development and welfare.

Jagan is synonymous with backstabbing politics, alleges TDP MLA Gana Babu
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has criticised YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party leaders for their move to observe 'Vennupotu Dinam' on June 4, marking the completion of one year of the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP leaders argued that the NDA government had implemented several key poll promises in a year, including the enhancement of pensions, the Deepam scheme, Mega DSC recruitment drive, and the revival of Anna Canteens. Addressing the media at his camp office on Tuesday, TDP Visakhapatnam (West) MLA P.G.V.R. Naidu, popularly known as Gana Babu, described Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy as arrogant, saying that the former Chief Minister had not learnt any lesson from the people's verdict in the 2024 elections. 'Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy is synonymous with backstabbing politics. He has amassed wealth by betraying the Congress during his tenure as an MP. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy's name surfaced in the controversial death of his uncle Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy. He betrayed even his mother and sister,' Mr. Gana Babu alleged. Questioning Mr. Jagan's achievements as the Chief Minister, Mr. Gana Babu demanded answers regarding the unfulfilled promises of liquor prohibition in State and the release of a job calendar. TDP Visakhapatnam president Gandi Babjee ridiculed the YSRCP leaders' statements on the NDA government, pointing out that the previous government took five years to increase pensions by ₹1,000 and now 'has the audacity to speak about betrayal'. He alleged that Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy had betrayed the people of Andhra Pradesh in the name of three capitals.

Complete four ports and four fishing harbours by December next year, Naidu tells officials
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that the Andhra Pradesh Logistics Corporation will be set up soon to realise the goals of developing roads, ports, airports, and fishing harbours in the State. He has also ordered that a plan be drafted to set up heliports in Agency areas to boost tourism. Reviewing the progress of the under-construction ports and fishing harbours in the State during a meeting held at his camp office at Undavalli on Tuesday, Mr. Naidu asked the officials to complete the first phase of the construction of Machilipatnam, Ramayapatnam, and Mulapeta ports, as well as the Kakinada Gateway Port, by December next year. The first phase of works of the fishing harbours at Juvvaladinne, Nizampatnam, Machilipatnam, and Uppada should be completed at the earliest. The ports and fishing harbours are vital assets of the State and must be put to use swiftly after construction, the Chief Minister said. He also held discussions with the officials on the operation and maintenance of ports. Mr. Naidu suggested that fishing harbours be developed as minor ports in such a way that they do not cause inconvenience to local fishermen and help increase regional income. New airports in PPP mode Mr. Naidu instructed the officials to begin construction of the new airports proposed in Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Amaravati, and Srikakulam (Palasa). 'The State should have at least 20 ports and 14 airports. The State roads should be expanded, keeping the traffic congestion in view, and those should be integrated with the national highways. These developments should be undertaken under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model,' the Chief Minister said. The officials informed the Chief Minister that 43.25% of the first phase work of the Machilipatnam port had been completed, and the project was expected to be completed by November next year. They stated that 63.89% of the first phase of Ramayapatnam Port, 46.59% of the first phase of Mulapeta Port, and 29.92% of the Kakinada Gateway Port work had been completed. The officials said that the progress of fishing harbours was apace. Around 98% of the first phase of the Juvvaladinne harbour was completed, while 81.17% of the works of the first phase of Nizampatnam fishing harbour and 69.20% of the first phase of Machilipatnam fishing harbour and 78.94% of the first phase of Uppada fishing harbour had been completed.
