An Air India aircraft with 242 passengers on board crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat on Thursday.
The tragic plane crash in Gujarat's Ahmedabad has left the nation shocked. Among others, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar also took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to react to the incident. The Housefull 5 actor mentioned that the incident has left him 'shocked" and 'speechless".

Previously, Akshay's Housefull 5 co-star Riteish Deshmukh also reacted to the incident. 'Absolutely heartbroken and in shock after hearing about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. My heart goes out to all the passengers, their families, and everyone affected on the ground. Holding them all in my thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time," he wrote on X.
Among others, Veer Pahariya, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Sunny Deol, Sonu Sood and Ashish Chanchlani have also expressed shock and grief over the plane crash in Ahmedabad. 'Devastated by the news of the plane crash in Ahmedabad. Praying with all my heart for survivors — may they be found and receive the care they need. May those who lost their lives rest in peace, and may their families find strength in this unimaginable time 🙏 (sic)," Sunny Deol posted.

For the unversed, an Air India aircraft with 242 passengers on board crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat on Thursday. Early visuals shared on social media show thick black smoke rising into the sky.
Initial reports suggest the aircraft went down in a densely populated area near the airport, prompting local residents to quickly gather at the scene to assist in rescue efforts. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has reportedly travelled from Surat to Ahmedabad to take stock of the situation. According to an IANS report, Union Home Minister Amit Shah discussed the incident with Patel, and the central government has assured full support in managing the aftermath.

On June 4, eleven people lost their lives in a stampede in Bengaluru, during a victory parade celebrating Royal Challengers Bengaluru's first Indian Premier League win. He also expressed grief over the horrific Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad saying "You fly in a plane and the plane crashes." "You are eating a meal in your hostel and a plane falls on you," he added. On Thursday, Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed soon after taking off. The aircraft plunged into a residential complex near BJ Medical College. Out of the 242 people on board the flight, only 1 survived, leaving 241 dead. After taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1.38 p.m. (IST) the plane lost control moments later.
