The Bulldogs breezed to the America East regular season title by going 18-6 in the league (34-18-1 overall), but they lost the first game of the conference tournament to Albany on Thursday. It's two-loss elimination, so they bounced back to beat NJIT last night, and they'll play for a spot in the conference championship today. Shortstop Drew Wyers won the conference player of the year with a .422 batting average that ranked seventh in the country, and Ryan Klosterman was named coach of the year. Freshman pitcher Michael Belcher was named Rookie of the Year.

Oddsmakers still not sold on red-hot, MLB-best Milwaukee Brewers
Gambling content 21+. The New York Post may receive an affiliate commission if you sign up through our links. Read our editorial standards for more information. At 76-44, the Brewers have the best record in baseball by six games heading into Friday's play. They've won 12 straight games and gone a ridiculous 26-4 over their last 30, which is one of the best month-long stretches in recent MLB history. And yet, oddsmakers still aren't quite sold on the Brew Crew being the best team in the league. Despite this unbelievable run, Milwaukee still has the third-best odds (+400, FanDuel Sportsbook) of winning the National League pennant behind the Dodgers (+210) and Phillies (+380). Given the relative weakness of the American League, they also have the third-best odds to win the World Series (+800), but that's barely above lower-tier contenders like the Mariners, Blue Jays, Padres, Tigers, Astros, and Yankees, who are all between 10/1 and 13/1. Although Vegas bookies may still be underestimating them, the Brewers have come a long way from their preseason projections. Before Opening Day, Milwaukee was far from a guarantee to make the playoffs, sitting at +125 to make the postseason, and a huge long shot to win it all at 50/1, both of which ranked in the bottom half of the league. Milwaukee Brewers' Christian Yelich, right, high-fives with William Contreras after Yelich hit a two-run home run against the Pittsburgh Pirates during the fifth inning of a baseball game, Tuesday, Aug.12, 2025, in Milwaukee. AP The Brewers have gone on this run thanks to one of the deepest rosters in baseball, although it's full of relative unknowns, which probably explains why oddsmakers and bettors don't believe in them just yet. Christian Yelich, Jackson Chourio and William Contreras are perhaps the biggest names on the position-player side, but they are also getting huge production from guys like Brice Turang, Isaac Collins, and Sal Frelick. The same could be said about their pitching staff. Learn all you need to know about MLB Betting Freddy Peralta is their ace, and Brandon Woodruff has starred in his return from injury, but fellow starters Chad Patrick, Quinn Priester, and flame-throwing rookie Jacob Misiorowski, along with a deep bullpen, have helped them to the third-best team ERA in baseball (3.59). The Brewers can't stay this hot through the end of the season, but if they finish strong enough, don't be surprised if they're the World Series favorites come October. Kyle Tucker $500 Million Deal? Cubs Free Agency Buzz Already Turning Heads
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Chicago Cubs had a very exciting offseason last year, headlined by the blockbuster trade with the Houston Astros that brought Kyle Tucker to the Windy City. This season has been great for the Cubs, too, though they've fallen a bit behind in the National League Central. Still, the World Series remains within their reach, and it's likely the Cubs will be among the favorites at the end of the regular season. In the offseason, they will look to have another exciting couple of months. Rich Eberwein of Cubbies Crib recently suggested that re-signing Tucker would be one of the Cubs' top priorities of the offseason, and he couldn't be more spot on. TORONTO, CANADA - AUGUST 13: Kyle Tucker #30 of the Chicago Cubs runs as he flies out in the sixth inning of their MLB game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on August... TORONTO, CANADA - AUGUST 13: Kyle Tucker #30 of the Chicago Cubs runs as he flies out in the sixth inning of their MLB game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on August 13, 2025 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. More"Tucker's skid in the power department is a concern since he only has one home run since the beginning of July. But the right fielder makes up for it in plate discipline, above-average defense in right field, and good base running instincts (24 steals this year)," Eberwein wrote. "The Cubs should obviously give the 28-year-old a contract extension, but the projected numbers make it extremely hard to believe that the team will pony up the cash. "Insiders have speculated that Tucker's eventual deal will land somewhere between $350-$500 million total. Even the lower end of that spectrum is considerably larger than the most lucrative contract the Cubs have dished out in team history (Jason Heyward $184 million)." Re-signing Tucker is likely going to be the Cubs' top priority this offseason, but with most outlets, including Spotrac, projecting him to sign for around $500 million, it doesn't seem very likely. Still, the Cubs have seemed a bit different this season than in the previous decade or so. Trading for a slugger like Tucker is out of character in itself. Re-signing him would be the blockbuster move that the fanbase desperately needs to see. More MLB: Tigers Blockbuster? Detroit Linked To $120 Million Superstar Free Agent
