Artist honours late dad and uncle with heartfelt penguin sculpture on Southend trail
An artist whose love of painting was inspired by her late father has created a heartfelt penguin sculpture now on display in Southend. Claudia Rose, 24, from Hadleigh, discovered her passion for art at a young age. Her father, who passed away from cancer when she was just six, was a significant influence on her creativity. As part of the Waddle-on-Sea initiative, she crafted a super-sized, marble-inspired penguin sculpture, proudly exhibited on Southend High Street. This stands among 30 other large penguins and a cluster of smaller sculptures throughout Southend and Leigh. Claudia said: "I get my gift of art from my dad and have always enjoyed it ever since I was little. "Sharing my artwork and having people get joy from it is the most fulfilling part, and I feel like my dad lives on in everything I create." Read more New 'glow-in-the-dark' fundraising walk to take place in south Essex New sensory bathroom unveiled at south Essex children's hospice The Waddle-on-Sea art trail, which began on July 11 and concludes on September 3, raises funds for Havens hospices, an charity close to Claudia's heart. After her father's passing, her uncle became a father figure to her and was later cared for by Fair Havens Hospice. The charity's support during tough times has inspired Claudia to give back through her artwork. She said: "After my dad passed away, my uncle became like a father figure to me. "When I was 18, he was cared for at the end of his life at Fair Havens Hospice. "They offered me and my family support through our most heartbreaking times. "It's a charity close to my heart, so to be able to raise money for them so they can help others means a lot to me, and it's my way of giving back." At the end of the trail, all the penguin sculptures, including Claudia's Marble Penguin, will be auctioned to raise further funds for the hospice. Those interested in following the trail can purchase a map from any Havens Hospices charity shop or other designated locations, or use the free Waddle-on-Sea app. For more information, visit the Waddle-on-Sea website.

Scott Waters, regional managing director for Persimmon, said: 'As a proud sponsor of York City, we're delighted to support what I'm sure will be a fantastic evening here in York. 'It's great to bring people together to both recognise Patrick's service to York City and at the same time, raise funds for Menfulness, who do such brilliant work across the city.' At the event 2012 promotion-winning manager Gary Mills and Captain Chris Smith will be joined by 2022 promotion-winner Matty Brown and the popular former City striker Clayton Donaldson. Set up by five friends in 2016, Menfulness provides in-person and online support to men in the York area. Menfulness runs a range of regular events and activities including football, running groups, walk and talk sessions as well as counselling via local therapy provider Serendipity. Tickets are available now priced at £55, with tables of ten priced at £550. The price includes a three-course meal, a welcome drink, tea and coffee and an evening of entertainment on a night to reminisce on McLaughlin's 10 years at the club, including his two promotions. Tickets can booked at the link with any enquiries to be made to York City's Paddy McLaughlin Paddy is York's longest-serving player having made over 200 appearances with City, being involved in the 2012 play-off and Isuzu FA Trophy heroics, as well as the Minstermen's promotion from the Enterprise National League North in 2022. The veteran midfielder has already had numerous events confirmed to celebrate his career with York, starting on Sunday, August 17, with Paddy and past and present teammates being hosted by York Hospital Ball at Haxby Social Club. A Footgolf Family Day will follow on Sunday, August 31 from 10am until 2pm at York Footgolf, Shipton Road. Paddy has previously told The Press he is 'overwhelmed by the support' shown by the club, ex-teammates and supporters for his testimonial year ahead. 'People have said a lot of nice things, and it's a strange feeling honestly, a strange experience, to have so many people saying so many nice things about you. It's been lovely. 'There will be members of the two promotion-winning teams and of the current squad down there at the foot golf event at the end of August, so it should be a good day. 'It's my tenth season at the club, and traditionally that's the milestone or the mark you have to hit to be offered the testimonial.'

Kaytranada & Justice Are Going on an Arena Tour This Fall: Here Are the Dates
Kaytranada and Justice are going on a co-headlining North American arena tour this fall. The 13-show run will launch on Oct. 17 in Vancouver, B.C., then hits arenas across the U.S. until it wraps in Miami, Fla., on Nov. 16. The run includes one currently unannounced show that's blurred out on the poster and is happening between an Oct. 22 in Oakland and an Oct. 28 show in San Diego. (One is tempted to speculate that this show will be in Los Angeles.) The Tame Impala collab from the duo's 2024 album Hyperdrama won the Grammy for best dance/electronic recording and gave Justice its first ever radio No. 1 in February. On July 16, Justice also released a remix package of 'Mannequin Love,' also from Hyperdrama, with fresh edits by The Dare, Braxe & Falcon and Hudson Mohawke. This autumn tour falls into the timeline Justice told Billboard about in March, when the duo's Gaspard Augé said the French duo would likely tour the lauded show debuted at Coachella 2024 this December. Following this, added Xavier de Rosnay, they'll likely 'pick a date and then dismantle everything' related to the live production 'so that there can't even be the temptation of saying yes to anything else.' Both artists also have plenty of solo tour dates on the calendar ahead of this fall run. Kaytranada's upcoming schedule including standalone shows and festival sets at events including HARD Summer and Breakaway Carolina and Justice's summer schedule including festivals primarily in Europe and Australia. Tickets for the run go on sale on Friday, July 25.
