Inside Louis Tomlinson's private life from family tragedies to Zara McDermott

Metro9 hours ago

After years in the spotlight as a member of One Direction, Louis Tomlinson has kept his personal life incredibly private in more recent years.
However, the usually private singer, 33, is now dating TV personality Zara McDermott, 28, and is set to be on screens as he appears in the Soccer Aid match this weekend.
The charity match is set to take place on Sunday and will see the likes of Jill Scott, Tom Grennan, Tyson Fury, Zara's ex-boyfriend Sam Thompson, and Sir Mo Farah take to the pitch.
Due to an injury, Sam has to stay on the sidelines and participate as a manager for the team. Meaning fans may not get to see the pair cross paths directly at the charity game.
Louis's blossoming romance has grabbed attention thanks to Zara's previous high-profile relationships with Love Island stars and with Sam – as they only broke up after six years at the end of 2024.
Louis and Zara have been snapped packing on the PDA in recent weeks, with the singer even being snapped giving his new love interest a cheeky bum squeeze while holidaying in Costa Rica.
The pair officially confirmed their romance in May when Louis left a public comment of support reading 'proud of you x' on a post from Zara about a career milestone.
Louis has reportedly been dating Zara for a good few months now, with a source telling The Sun he has 'absolutely charmed her.'
They continued: 'It's clear he thinks she's drop-dead gorgeous too. Louis is a proper gentleman so this trip was something he planned and put on for Zara.'
Zara rose to fame while appearing on the 2018 series of Love Island, entering as a 'bombshell' and coupling up with Adam Collard.
After 10 days, she left the villa but made her mark as the following year she appeared with other contestants on Celebrity X Factor.
She was placed in a group with Eyal Booker, Samira Mighty and Wes Nelson and mentored by Louis Walsh — an experience the History hitmaker can almost certainly relate to.
Zara has fronted multiple documentaries and in 2023 appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, getting eliminated in the fifth week with partner Graziano Di Prima.
In reality TV, Zara also starred on E4's Made in Chelsea until 2020, where she met ex-boyfriend Sam, 32.
Before fame, the What Makes You Beautiful hitmaker was said to be dating a woman named Hannah Walker, however, by 2011 this had fizzled out.
After this, he was reported to be dating Eleanor Calder, a fashion assistant and model, who was seen on his arm at multiple events.
They stayed together until 2015, with sources citing long distance and the One Direction touring schedule as a reason for the breakup.
Shortly after the split, Louis was rumoured to be seeing the likes of Danielle Campbell, Tamara Bell and then the mother of his only son, Briana Jungwirth.
By 2016, Freddie was born, but the romance had fizzled out with Briana, who worked as a personal stylist.
The next year, he got back together with Eleanor, and they remained together until 2020, with Louis even suggesting marriage was on the cards.
Louis was linked to Sofie Nyvang in 2023, but things didn't last long, and his relationship with Zara is the first glimpse at his romantic life that we've had since then.
Despite his own superstar status, Louis keeps Freddie's life far away from the spotlight except for glimpses in the 2023 documentary All Of Those Voices.
Freddie, nine, is co-parented by Briana and Louis but lives in the US with his mum, which limits the time he can spend with his dad.
During the documentary, the Just Hold On singer spends every moment he's off work with Freddie, balancing life between the UK and America.
In a sweet moment, his son watches him perform for the first time, reducing Louis to tears.
When Freddie comes backstage, his dad scoops him up into a hug and tells him: 'You made me cry! It was happy crying, but you made me cry!'
Briana posts small updates more frequently, but Louis firmly keeps chat about his son to a minimum.
He confessed in 2020 to Fabulous Magazine that having Freddie at 24 had been 'unexpected' and forced him to 'grow up very quickly.'
'It was another one of them moments — being faced with the reality of a situation and having to step up. It was a very maturing time in my life,' Louis continued.
Happy birthday to my incredible son Freddie! You make me proud every single day!! So lucky to have such a kind and outgoing little lad. I love you! — Louis Tomlinson (@Louis_Tomlinson) January 21, 2022
'And, again, I've kind of got between two head spaces. I'm the responsible dad and brother some days and other days I'm still the reckless idiot chav I used to be. I'm still trying to work out a happy medium.'
In 2022, he wrote: 'Happy birthday to my incredible son Freddie! You make me proud every single day. So lucky to have such a kind and outgoing little lad. I love you!'
Louis grew up in Doncaster in a big blended family with seven siblings, who he is very close to, including influencer sister Lottie.
His mother, Johannah 'Jay' Deakin, married Mark Tomlinson after splitting with Louis' biological father Troy Austin — who he has no contact with. https://www.instagram.com/p/C1RiG_DKF4L/?hl=en
With Mark, Johannah welcomed Lottie, Félicité and twins Phoebe and Daisy before they parted ways in 2011.
Phoebe and Daisy regularly post family pictures together, including a Christmas video which saw Freddie featured instead of Louis.
Johannah married a man named Dan Deakon after this, and in 2014, they welcomed fraternal twins, son Ernest and daughter Doris.
In December 2016, Louis' mum died from leukaemia at age 43, inspiring the song Two of Us on his debut album.
He told Metro at the time: 'My mum wasn't about feeling sorry for herself. Again that's what gives me pride and comfort singing the chorus. It feels really liberating.'
Just over two years after losing his mum, Louis' sister Félicité also died from an accidental overdose. More Trending
Fizzy, as she was affectionately known, was just 18 at the time, working as a model and aspiring to be a fashion designer.
Speaking to The Guardian, Louis said: 'That whole dark side I've gone through, it sounds stupid to say, but it gives me strength everywhere else in my life because that's the darkest shit that I'm going to have to deal with.
'So it makes everything else…not feel easier and not less important, but in the grand scheme of things, you see things for what they are.'

Sam Thompson and Louis Tomlinson hold 'peace dinner' ahead of Soccer Aid match

Sam Thompson and Louis Tomlinson are said to have officially buried the hatchet ahead of this year's Soccer Aid match. The podcast host, 32, and One Direction superstar, 33, have been training together for the charity game this weekend at Old Trafford in Manchester. Sam and Louis join the likes of Tom Grennan, Bella Ramsey, Wayne Rooney, and Jill Scott as the England team takes on World XI FC to raise vital funds for UNICEF. And while fundraising is, of course, the main focus of the event, there has been quiet drama simmering on the sidelines that has also captured fans' attention. You'll remember that Sam was dating former Love Islander Zara McDermott, 28, for five years before shocking everyone by calling it quits last December. Pop star Louis then struck up an unlikely romance with the documentary maker, and they've been spotted on several cosy dates and blissful getaways in recent months. And while everyone was eager for a showdown between Sam and Louis as they both took to the pitch in the name of Soccer Aid, reports claim the pair are keen to avoid anything of the sort. According to The Sun, Zara's ex and her new lover held somewhat of a peace dinner before kick-off. The meal allegedly took place at Champneys in Tring, Herts, with other teammates present. A source told the publication: 'There is no beef between the pair, and they're both going to ensure their love lives don't distract from such a big charity spectacle. 'They are fully aware that their every move is being scrutinised, and they've broken bread with their teammates, so it'll be smooth sailing on the day.' Louis last played for Soccer Aid several years ago, so he's keen to make a strong comeback. He said after his signing was confirmed for the England team: 'Manchester! It's about 10 years since I last turned out for Soccer Aid, so I thought it was about time I returned to the pitch.' Meanwhile, Sam has been ruled out of any pitch action due to injuries he acquired last week during his five-day Soccer Aid challenge. The intense Match Ball Mission saw Sam run and cycle a total of 260 miles from London to Manchester, raising over £1.5million for UNICEF. Alas, Sam has now been forced to take a backseat and help out with Soccer Aid management due to his legs 'falling apart'. He told This Morning a few days ago: 'I'm still very sore, still got the torn calf… I'm not going to be able to run around. You now have me as part of the management team. Come on, England!' He explained that he'll be coaching from the sidelines along with Vicky McClure and Tyson Fury, which allows him to still 'put [his] two pence in'. 'I will still get to be part of it all.' Sam's withdrawal comes after he was quizzed on coming face-to-face with 1D star Louis for the first time since their love lives crossed paths. Speaking on his Staying Relevant podcast, which he hosts with Pete Wicks, Sam explained to his best pal that the unexpected topic from a journalist made him 'sweat'. Sam told Pete of the incident: 'At the end of the interview, he goes, 'Look, mate, I've got to ask the question that everyone wants to know; this is sort of the big question, really, the elephant in the room. What's it going to be like with you and Louis? Obviously he's doing Soccer Aid too.' 'Mate, you should have seen the room. It was silent, and then everyone goes, 'Woah, Woah, Woah, end the call! End the call!' and I have just gone, 'No, no, guys, I've got this, I've got this.' I held my hands up to say, 'Just relax'.' Laughing as he recalled the chaotic moment, Sam said his PR was 'panicking' as, despite putting on a bravado, the reality star actually had no idea what was about to come from his mouth. Thankfully, Sam was able to string a coherent response together and emphasise what really matters with Soccer Aid. 'I think I did alright, and I meant everything I said as well, that it's not about me or Louis or who anyone is dating; it's f**king Unicef and charity, and everyone is going to be there for the exact same reason,' he said. 'And if [Louis] has anything about him, which I've heard he does, he's going to sit there and say the exact same thing.' Pete applauded him for handling the potentially uncomfortable situation with grace, sarcastically asking whether he shed tears once the call ended. 'I came off, and I wasn't far off that [crying], and I didn't realise I was sweating so hard I had sweat patches under my arms,' Sam said. 'You know when you're sweating buckets? And I turned around to our PR and was like, 'Was that OK?'' More Trending 'It's going to be a beautiful, special day, and we are both playing together for such a great cause, and all of us taking part in this are in it for the same reason.' Sam is now thought to be dating ex-Love Island star Samie Elishi, while Louis and Zara were first papped together a couple of months ago. An insider previously told The Sun that the Silver Tongues hitmaker 'absolutely charmed her'. 'It's clear he thinks she's drop-dead gorgeous too.' Got a story? Danny Jones' wife's statement with first post of him since Maura Higgins kiss

Danny Jones' wife Georgia has hinted things may be getting back on track for the couple following the Maura Higgins kiss scandal at the Brit Awards Danny Jones' wife Georgia has posted about him for the first time since THAT Maura Higgins kiss. The 38-year-old, who shares seven-year-old son Cooper with McFly star Danny, 39, paid tribute to her husband on Father's Day. Sharing a snap with her own dad first, former Miss England Georgia then shared a sweet snap of Cooper hugging dad Danny. She cutely captioned the post: "For the Dads. Happy Father's Day." ‌ It's the first time Danny has appeared on Georgia's grid since he was spotted kissing his I'm A Celebrity co-star Maura at a Brits after party back in March. Danny, who has been married to Georgia for over a decade, issued a grovelling public apology after the drunken snog. ‌ In a statement, he said: "Hello everyone, sorry it's taken me a while to post this but I've taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we'll continue to deal with this privately." He added to fans: "I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. See you all soon, Danny." READ MORE: Maura Higgins confirmed for major TV show after being replaced on Love Island After the Maura kiss came to light, Georgia temporarily moved out of their family home. Insiders claimed that the entire ordeal has been "embarrassing" for the mother-of-one, who tied the knot with Danny in 2014. Back in March, a source claimed that while "they may still be married, they are not together and she is still working out what she wants to do." But it's thought Georgia is now back living in the family home in West London and has returned to host her podcast, Mum's The Word! with pal Kelsey Parker. A source told the Mirror in April: "Georgia is returning to face the music after weeks away. She took some time for herself after the incident blew up but now she's ready to talk." ‌ "This wasn't some grand gesture where she suddenly packed her bags and left. It was just a girlie few nights at a close pal's flat. Yes, she wanted some space, but she is home now, and while things are still fragile, they are trying to work things through," a separate source confirmed. Danny, on the other hand, is reported to be keen to work things out and get his marriage with Georgia back on track. "He has made it clear he will do anything to make it work. He loves Georgia and wants their marriage to get back on track," a source told The Sun. Last month Danny skipped an appearance at the BAFTA TV awards after it was rumoured Maura would be there. The 34-year-old made a return to the spotlight on the BAFTA red carpet. Though Maura has remained tight-lipped on the kiss, a source told The Mirror that Maura had been in a "bad way and really struggling". They said: "Maura is a tough character but the reaction to events has been utterly relentless, and it's fair to say it's taken its toll. "She has found all of this very difficult to navigate. She appreciates she's in the public eye and there is extra interest around her, but the abuse is off the charts, and people need to calm down. She is trying to treat things as business as usual, but it's hard."

Harry Redknapp's net worth and Soccer Aid star's secret to happy 56-year marriage with wife

Harry Redknapp's net worth and Soccer Aid star's secret to happy 56-year marriage with wife Iconic Premier League manager Harry Redknapp returns for his eighth Soccer Aid on Sunday, as England look to retain the charity match crown after an emphatic victory last time out Harry Redknapp is back to spearhead England's management team for Soccer Aid 2025 (Image: ©UNICEF/Soccer Aid Productions/Stella Pictures ) Former Tottenham, West Ham and Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is back for his eighth Soccer Aid as the long-running charity match returns to Old Trafford. Since being founded in 2006 by popstar Robbie Williams and presenter Jonathan Wilkes, Soccer Aid has become an annual favourite. Raising money for UNICEF UK, over £100million has been collected through the years, with over £15m raised last year alone. ‌ England were the victorious party last time out, beating the World XI 6-3, with iconic former Premier League head coach Redknapp part of the management team. The I'm a Me Out Of Here! winner has been lending his expertise to the event since 2008, and as it returns to its spiritual home of Old Trafford in 2025, so does he. ‌ Ahead of Soccer Aid 2025, we take a look at the life led by the King of the Jungle behind the scenes, including his net worth, admissions about his dear wife Sandra and a multi-million-pound mansion he once owned. What is Harry Redknapp's net worth? Before making his name as a charismatic and business-savvy manager, Redknapp enjoyed a long playing career for the likes of West Ham and Bournemouth. He first took up a managerial position in 1983 with the Cherries and then the Hammers, before stints with Portsmouth, in the second of which he won the FA Cup. Article continues below Redknapp has amassed a fortune throghout his years in football (Image: PA ) At his next destination, White Hart Lane, he would guide Tottenham to the Champions League and win the Premier League Manager of the Year award in 2010. Thanks to his many years as a top manager and from his various endorsements since heading into retirement, it is estimated that Redknapp's fortune stands at £13million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. ‌ Who is Harry Redknapp's wife? Redknapp wed his beloved Sandra at Barking Abbey church in 1968, having first met at the tender age of 17. Though they humorously admitted to getting their dates wrong when celebrating their 55th anniversary in 2022, only for it to be the 54th year they'd been together. Nevertheless, the couple have been inseparable for over half a century, and, speaking to GB News three years ago, Redknapp swooningly admitted: "I'm so lucky to be married to Sandra. She's looked after me. She's my life, to be honest." Redknapp married wife Sandra in 1968 (Image: ) ‌ The former Premier League boss has also shed light on one reason why the pair's marriage has continued to last with such strength, as he penned in his and son Jamie's 2024 novel, A Family Obsession: "She's never been into football, she doesn't go to football. "She didn't even go to watch me play, and it's been a great thing that she never got involved. I'd hate to have had her come home and have her saying, 'What did you do today? Why didn't you do that?' or whatever. I couldn't have stood that." Harry Redknapp's Sandbanks home sold for millions Both Redknapp and his wife Sandra have long called Bournemouth and the surrounding area home, and he became synonymous with the plush Dorset neighbourhood of Sandbanks when he moved into his first property there, a mock-Tudor mansion, in 2001. ‌ This home, which the couple lived in for 13 years, was offloaded in 2015 for £6.9m to Topps Tiles founder and millionaire businessman Barry Bester, and was later sold for a Sandbanks record £10m in 2021. The couple are set to return to Sandbanks soon (Image: Getty Images ) Redknapp purchased a new property just down the road after selling up, and demolished it in 2023 to make way for a new upgrade. The pair relocated inland to the affluent suburb of Branksome Park on the back of the demolition, but are now set for a Sandbanks return after applications were finally approved to construct a five-bedroom luxury Italian villa. Article continues below The new mansion will overlook Brownsea Island nature reserve, feature a grand entrance hall and have a double garage. It is estimated to be worth £12m.
