The RM160 million investment will be jointly funded by MFM and its partner in a 51:49 ratio.
In May 2021, MFM formed a joint venture with meat processor and marketer Tyson Foods for its poultry segment. The partnership leverages Tyson's global network, proprietary technology and market reputation to increase sales, access export markets and improve operational efficiency.
Meanwhile, the flour and grain trading segment will invest RM55 million to expand capacity and improve efficiency across key markets in Malaysia and Vietnam.
'This includes RM20 million for automation at our flour mills in Lumut and Pasir Gudang to reduce manual labour, enhance efficiency and ensure consistent product quality,' Teh said at a press conference after the group's 65th annual general meeting today.
In Vietnam, Teh said the company will invest RM34 million to scale operations. Of this, RM21 million will go towards expanding capacity and upgrading its northern Vietnam plant, while RM13 million is allocated for building flour silos and blending facilities in the southern region.
'These strategies enable us to meet the growing demand for flour and flour-related products in both Malaysia and Vietnam,' he added.

CPO Futures End Lower On Rising Output Concerns

By Durratul Ain Ahmad Fuad KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- The crude palm oil (CPO) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower today due to concerns over rising production, according to palm oil trader David Ng. He said weaker soybean oil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade during Asian trading hours also weighed on market sentiment. 'The rising production is mainly due to seasonality. We see prices supported at RM3,800 per tonne and resistance at RM4,000 per tonne,' he told Bernama. At the close, the spot-month June 2025 and July 2025 contracts dropped RM42 each to RM3,904 per tonne and RM3,923 per tonne, respectively. August 2025 fell RM45 to RM3,903 per tonne, September 2025 and October 2025 declined RM47 each to RM3,890 per tonne and RM3,886 per tonne respectively, and November 2025 reduced RM40 to RM3,891 per tonne. Trading volume improved to 64,761 lots from 59,422 lots yesterday, while open interest edged up to 245,562 contracts from 245,345 contracts previously. The physical CPO price for June South decreased by RM50 to RM3,950 per tonne. -- BERNAMA

Engineer loses over RM1.5mil to online investment scam

BUKIT MERTAJAM: An engineer working in the Middle East lost over RM1.5mil to an online investment scam recently. Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the victim, 40, lodged a report with the Central Seberang Perai district police headquarters commercial crimes investigation division yesterday. "In November last year the man got to know a woman through the phone and had a relationship before the woman invited him to join an investment scheme called GoldenCrimson that offered handsome returns. "The man was interested to invest and was given a customer service number and a website link to register, and he invested RM90,510 and received returns of RM108,611," he said in a statement on Friday (June 6) night. The man grew confident in the scheme and made 103 transactions to 31 different accounts totalling RM1,532,563 from Dec 2 to March 8, and realised he was scammed when he failed to withdraw RM4,131,671 through the app but was asked instead to provide additional capital to be able to withdraw his profits. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code. - Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 (Bernama) -- Bank Rakyat today launched the 'Kembara Qurban Kemboja 2025' programme by sending a delegation to support the Muslim community in Cambodia in conjunction with the Aidiladha celebration tomorrow. Its deputy chief executive officer, Nor Haimee Zakaria, said a total of 45 cows will be handed over for the 'qurban' (sacrificial ritual) and distributed to Muslim residents of Kampung Trapeng Prinh and Kampung Keh in Cambodia. 'This qurban initiative, implemented since 2015, has benefited various communities, particularly the 'asnaf' group,' he said in a statement today. He said Bank Rakyat, together with its strategic partners, also distributed basic food aid to 150 families in Kampung Swai Relom, Kandal Province, with each family receiving 10 kilogrammes of rice. Meanwhile, Nor Haimee said efforts to support local communities continue through the 'Hulurkan Salam Aidiladha' programme from June 7 to 20, involving the distribution of beef and mutton from 241 cows and 159 goats. He said the distribution involves contributions from holders of the Simpanan-i Tabung Qurban Account and Surau Al-Barakah at Menara Kembar Bank Rakyat (MKBR), amounting to over RM1.52 million.
