Lorraine rushes to comfort Adele Roberts as she breaks down

Daily Mirror28-04-2025

Lorraine Kelly was on hand to support her ITV show guest Adele Roberts after she broke down in tears on Monday's show.
Emotions were high during the latest episode of ITV's Lorraine.
The touching moment unfolded after the presenter chatted with ex-BBC Radio One presenter Adele Roberts about her recent London Marathon success.

As their conversation wrapped up, the Scottish host had a heartfelt surprise in store for the 46 year-old star

Lorraine announced: "Everybody is so so proud of you and we've got a wee message for you, it's from your stoma nurse Elaine."
Adele was visibly moved as a video from her nurse played on-screen, with Elaine expressing: "You have inspired so many people and patients with stoma's throughout.
"You have been an absolute godsend, you have been a person, you know, that others aim to aspire to.
"What a great accomplishment, and thank you for carrying us along on that journey with you."
Overwhelmed by the gesture, Adele tearfully thanked Lorraine, apologising for her emotional response, reports the Daily Record.

Lorraine comforted her, saying: "Aw, that's gorgeous, I know it's very- no you're fine. I get it because the people that help you, that helped you to get back to be you again are so important. Sometimes, we forget that behind you, there's a team."
Adele didn't hesitate to commend her nurse, telling Lorraine that without Elaine and the NHS, her achievements wouldn't have been possible.

During her conversation on Lorraine's show, she gave a nod to the host's No Butts campaign, gratefully saying: "Without you, what you've done with no butts, thank you. It saved me."
Yet there was more in store for Adele as the Scottish presenter had another surprise up her sleeve.
A representative from Guinness World Records appeared on set with an impressive accolade for Adele.

She announced: "Adele, you're a shining inspiration to all of us, especially those with an impairment. We're very proud to monitor this type of record title.
"We've been tracking you since the beginning of your journey and literally yesterday, we saw you across the finish line. Adele, you're officially amazing."

Overjoyed with the record, Adele listened as Lorraine informed their audience that she now holds the record for fastest female marathon time across all major global races with a stoma.
Lorraine expressed her pride, remarking: "We're all so proud of you, we really are, it's just wonderful. It's brilliant. But, for goodness, sake just have a rest! You're in pain, have a wee holiday. Just sit down, watch the telly with your feet up, please!"
For those concerned about bowel cancer, symptoms and signs are available on Lorraine's website.
Lorraine is available to watch on ITVX.

Emmerdale star confirms fan favourite's return after months off-screen

A FAN favourite on Emmerdale is making a long-anticipated return. Dylan Penders, played by Fred Kettle, will be returning to ITV screens soon after months off the show. 5 5 5 The character was first introduced to Emmerdale viewers earlier this year when he befriended April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), during her stint being unhoused and living on the streets. Despite caring for April and becoming good friends, her dad Marlon Dingle, was not a fan on Dylan and resorted to planting drugs on Dylan in a desperate bid to force him out of April's life. But his plan backfired dramatically when Dylan ended up overdosing and left to attend rehab. Emmerdale producers revealed earlier this month that Dylan would be returning to the village, but Amelia, who plays April on the soap gave a hint when exactly fans can expect to see him again. "April has had an incredibly tough year with what she has been through, with the pregnancy and the homelessness storyline," she told Mirror Online. "April and Dylan didn't leave things on the best terms, but I think what is important now is that he's back." Amelia added: "Who knows what will happen. It will be great to explore that relationship further, I think fans want to see that which is great." It's been a big week for Amelia who took out the gong for Best Young Performer at Thursday's British Soap Awards. She managed to win the prize ahead of her brother William Flanagan, who was nominated for playing Joseph Brown on Coronation Street. Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw confirmed Dylan's return earlier this month. Emmerdale's Marlon visits Dylan in hospital after he takes an overdose "Lovely Fred Kettle, who plays Dylan, is coming back to the show," she told media. "He's going to be bringing his past back to the village with him. And that's going to cause huge problems for April and the wider family there." Laura added: "We've got a couple of exciting new castings that are joining us for that story, but I'm not allowed to tell you who they are. Watch this space, because it's very exciting." 5 5

This retro photo gallery shows children and their families making the most of the summer around Scotland during the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Holidaymakers are pictured paddling at the beach, taking the plunge at the lido and cruising down the river in these nostalgic images. Trips to the zoo, where visitors are pictured watching the popular penguin parade; pony rides; and summer fairs, where the attractions included a dog on a scooter, are among the summer activities captured in these atmospheric black and white pictures. Sunbathers are shown soaking up the rays, or using any means possible to cool down as the sun shines, but crowds are also seen huddled in the rain when the summer weather wasn't being so kind. A floating museum, a Scottish football legend getting mobbed by young fans, and fun times at the fairground are among the other memorable images of yesteryear captured in this gallery.
