
Indian Sports Wrap, August 12: Hockey Jharkhand crowned Junior Women National Champions
Hockey Jharkhand was crowned as the champions of the 15th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2025 in Kakinada, after they won the final of Division 'A', defeating Hockey Haryana 2-1.
The final day of the event saw dominating performances by Hockey Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh Hockey, as both teams won their respective matches to clinch the title and the bronze medal, respectively.
Hockey Jharkhand's Sweety Dungdung (10') and Shanti Kumari (12') scored in the first quarter to give their team an early lead. Although Hockey Haryana's Kirty (52') tried to turn the game in her team's favour with a late goal, she couldn't prevent her team from losing 2-1 in the final.
In Uttar Pradesh' win over Chhattisgarh, the goals were scored by captain Suneeta Kumari (10') and Manisha Patel (60').

Aryan Shah beats wildcard in Sofia Chellenger first round
Aryan Shah beat wild card entrant Alexander Donski 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of the €54,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Aryan will play the second seed Duje Ajdukovic of Croatia.

Jharkhand wins junior women's hockey title
Jharkhand lifted the 15th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2025 with a 2-1 victory over Haryana in the final held at the District Sports Authority grounds in Kakinada on August 12. Haryana finished as runners-up, while Uttar Pradesh secured third place. The two-week national tournament was hosted by the Kakinada District Sports Authority. Over 200 coaches, officials and team managers were felicitated during the closing ceremony. MLC Karri Padmasri, Andhra Pradesh Hockey Association Secretary G. Haryana, Jharkhand set up title clash
Last Updated: Kakinada, Aug 10 (PTI) Hockey Haryana and Hockey Jharkhand registered identical 3-0 wins to set up the title clash in the Junior Women's National Championship here Sunday. In the day's first semi-final, captain Shashi Kasha (8') gave Haryana an early lead against Chhattisgarh Hockey before Supriya (45', 47') struck twice in quick succession to seal the win. In the other last-four encounter, Jharkhand got past Uttar Pradesh with goals from Sweety Dungdung (13'), Rina Kullu (56') and captain Rajni Kerketta (59').
