Odisha CM pitches Google collaboration on digital governance, woos top investors at WAVES-2025 summit
BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a series of one-on-one meetings with prominent investors and industry leaders in Mumbai reinforcing his government's commitment to fast-tracked industrial growth and ease of doing business in the state.
During his visit to the city to attend the WAVES-2025 summit, the chief minister held an investors' meet where he held discussions with senior representatives of Google Inc and Canarys Automation - for digital governance collaboration in areas such as predictive disaster monitoring, AI-based administration, data de-duplication in public service delivery and advanced data analytics.
Majhi also held separate meetings with the CEO & MD of TATA Steel TV Narendran and discussed the latter's expansion plans in Odisha in the context of the state's target to produce over 130 million tonne of steel by 2030.
His other engagement was with Shapoorji Pallonji Mistry, chairman of Shapoorji Pallonji & Company, to explore synergies and future collaboration opportunities in the state. He also had a meeting with CMD of Waaree Group, Hitesh Doshi and discussed the progress of the company's ongoing projects in Odisha. They explored avenues to expand renewable energy initiatives in the state.
The chief minister also met Anil Bhavarlal Jain, vice-chairman and CEO of Jain Irrigation, a leading company in drip/sprinkler irrigation, solar pumps, fruits and vegetable processing and tissue culture. They discussed opportunities for investment in Odisha's agriculture and irrigation equipment sector to boost sustainable farming and rural development.
He met representatives of Chamber for Advancement of Small & Medium Enterprises (CASME), Maharashtra and invited them to explore opportunities for MSME collaboration in food processing and packaging, leveraging Odisha's raw material advantages.
The CM invited these global investors to be part of Odisha's growth story, echoing the state's new rallying call 'Yahi Samay Hai, Sahi Samay Hai'.
The state's participation at WAVES-2025 is expected to pave the way for greater engagement with film producers, technology leaders, sporting federations, tourism operators and creative entrepreneurs, said a senior officer who was part of the high-level delegation led by Majhi to Mumbai.

Mumbai Customs plans to cut international passenger clearance time from 10 minutes to 5
In a move that is likely to ease congestion, Mumbai Customs is working on a plan to reduce clearance time for international passengers from 10 minutes to 5 minutes by introducing automation and AI-based systems. 'We are developing a new system called CAPIT, in which we are trying to use AI and ML rather than rely on random checks or manual profiling. Earlier, we would mark bags with chalk or pen. Now, the system flags baggage electronically and connects it with the passenger profile internally,' Joseph Gouda, joint director, Indian Revenue Services (IRS), said. He was speaking at a panel discussion on 'Airport passenger infrastructure through innovation' held on Thursday here, ahead of the Inter Passenger Terminal Show (IPTS) 2025. The panel included members from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Mumbai Customs, terminal operations heads from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports, among others. India currently has over 2,200 aircraft on order and air traffic is projected to double over the next two decades. 'India's aviation growth presents a dual challenge—securing borders while easing the journey for millions of law-abiding passengers. In Mumbai alone, we clear 22,000–25,000 international travellers daily, averaging 10-minute Customs clearance. Our aim is to cut this to five minutes,' Gouda added. At Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), expected to begin operations soon, planning has focused on real-time digital tools and data-based terminal management. Vikram Falodiya, head of terminal operations, NMIA, said, 'At NMIA, we have the best use technology to manage passenger flow and airside operations, including rapid exit taxiway simulations for faster aircraft movement. Passenger experience is a priority. With surging passenger traffic, cities like Mumbai may need new airports by 2040. Despite the volume, our operational teams perform impressively, and Mumbai ranks high globally for efficiency.' The roundtable was a precursor to the upcoming IPTS 2025, which will be held on June 11-12 in Mumbai drawing over 3,000 participants from the aviation, infrastructure and regulatory sectors.

IIITDM-Kurnool to hold awareness camps on admission process from June 9-11
