CM Gupta flags off 100 new DEVI buses

Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Friday flagged off 100 more electric buses as part of government's 'DEVI' initiative, aimed at enhancing last-mile connectivity while curbing air pollution. The saffron colour of the 100 buses prompted AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj to hit out at the BJP government. The colors of the last two fleet of the buses were green. CM said the change in the color represents the diversity of the capital. 'These low-floor, AC, wheelchair-friendly buses are equipped with panic buttons, CCTV cameras, and real-time tracking features. At 9 meters long, these e-buses are specially designed for efficient last-mile connectivity. Over 2000 electric buses are already operational in Delhi, and the government is working towards making the entire transport system electric by 2027,' CM Gupta said.
This was the third largest DEVi buses flag off. The last batch of 200 e-buses under this category was flagged off by PM Narendra Modi on June 5. So far Delhi has 700 DEVi buses. Rajamahendravaram: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila strongly criticised the BJP-led government, stating that only Congress party truly understands people's problems and works for their genuine welfare. APCC in-charge Palak Verma also attended the event. Following the meeting, Sharmila, Rudra Raju, Vishweshwara Reddy, and others paid floral tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar's statue at Gokavaram Bus Stand. Later, Sharmila unveiled a statue of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi near the water tank at Rajiv Gandhi Park in Seethampeta and paid homage by garlanding the statues of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.

Puducherry: Resignation of three nominated BJP MLAs accepted by Speaker
The Puducherry Assembly Secretariat has issued a notification accepting the resignation of K. Venkatesan, V.P. Ramalingam, and R.B. Ashok Babu from the Legislative Assembly as nominated legislators. The three members belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were appointed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs immediately after the All India N.R. Congress-BJP alliance won the 2021 Assembly polls in the Union Territory. The legislators had submitted their resignation letters to Speaker R. Selvam on the 'instructions' of the BJP high command on Friday (June 27, 2025) evening, sources in the party said. The MHA would soon issue an order appointing three new members as nominated legislators. The party is likely to give representation to a Dalit member as well as a member from the Karaikal region, the sources said. 'Now that the Speaker has accepted the resignation of the three members, the process to appoint new members has also started. The order is expected to come anytime, and the members will be sworn in early next week,' said a BJP leader. Meanwhile, the party leadership has been in huddle since Friday evening to elect a new president and also find a replacement for A.K. Sai J. Saravanan Kumar, who had also submitted his resignation from the Chief Minister N. Rangasamy-led Cabinet on Friday. Mr. Rangasamy, the founder-leader of the AINRC, had told the media on Friday evening, after consulting Lt. Governor K. Kailashnathan, that the resignation of Mr. Kumar was accepted by the government. Mr. Kumar is among the leaders considered for the post of president of the BJP in the UT, a party source said, adding that the nomination process for electing the party's Puducherry unit chief will be carried out on Sunday (June 29, 2025). Protest held The supporters of Mr. Kumar, meanwhile, staged a demonstration on Friday night in the town, protesting the decision of BJP to replace him. Mr. Kumar was the only leader belonging to the Dalit community in the first National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Puducherry. The supporters raised slogans demanding that Mr. Kumar be made the president of the BJP's Puducherry unit. The protesters later dispersed after the intervention of close associates of the former Minister.

BJP dubs Congress' renaming spree as ‘names change sarkar'
Hyderabad: The BJP in Telangana dubbed the 18-month-old Congress-led government as a 'Name's Change Sarkar' for failing to deliver on its promises. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar said 'Telangana Congress promised Change,' However, 'in 18 months, all it delivered was Name Changes.' On Friday, the Karimnagar MP, taking a dig at the State government for changing the name of the Rs 5 meal scheme named after 'Annapurna' to Indira Gandhi, said, 'Universities renamed. Hospitals renamed. Irrigation projects (were) renamed. Awards renamed. Flyovers renamed. Housing scheme renamed. Farm loan incentive renamed. Greening Drive (was) renamed. Departments renamed. Official residence renamed. Telangana Talli changed.' They 'Now, shamelessly, they've renamed the Rs 5 meal scheme from Goddess Annapurna, the divine giver of food, to Indira Gandhi. This isn't governance – it's an insult to Hindu beliefs. No real work. Just name work. And namesake work.' Medak Parliament MP M Raghunandan Rao criticized the Congress government, stating that after 18 months in power, it lacks the courage to evaluate its performance and address the promises made to the public. Instead, it seems to create a new name and narrative each day to distract the people from its shortcomings. The MP asked the GHMC Mayor to focus on civic issues rather than name-changing excrement. Additionally, unemployed persons are not receiving the Rs. 4,000 that was promised. Residents are submitting petitions regarding the lack of streetlights in the slums. There are also concerning reports of stray dogs attacking children, resulting in fatalities. Furthermore, sewage water has flooded several colonies. The GHMC Mayor should respond to such issues. 'Just naming the Annapurna canteen after Indiramma canteen has not yielded any results for GHMC.' He urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to stop changing the names of the schemes, reduce the hype surrounding them, and focus on fulfilling the promises made to the people before the elections. Telangana BJP Chief Spokesperson and Media In-charge N.V. Subhash condemned the decision to rename the popular 'Annapurna Canteens'—which serves subsidized meals to the poor—as 'Indira Canteens'. Calling it an 'unwarranted, insensitive, and politically motivated' move, the BJP termed the renaming as a direct affront to the sentiments of the Hindu majority, and yet another attempt to erase cultural symbols deeply rooted in India's civilizational identity. 'Annapurna is not just a name—it symbolizes Goddess Annapurna, the divine mother who nourishes the world.' He stated that the scheme had gained widespread goodwill due to its apolitical intentions. The GHMC is not a private trust, nor is it operated by the Congress Party. 'The use of public funds to glorify a single political dynasty reflects entitlement and autocracy,' Subhash remarked.
