BMX rider jumps over speeding F1 car in 'scariest stunt yet'
Footage of the stunt shows Red Bull athlete Kriss Kyle jumping over a Red Bull RB7 Formula One car at Goodwood Race Track, courtesy of a small ramp, as it sped towards him at 40 miles an hour.
'I thought about the idea two years ago. I'm always trying to think about what no one has done before. My last big one was the hot air project – this one was even scarier', Kriss told STV News. Red Bull via Supplied The challenge was a world first.
'Nothing in your head can prepare you for that car coming at you at 40 miles an hour.
'It's faster than the blink of an eye.
'The noise of the car just screams at you, it's like razor blades coming at you.'
The 33-year-old had spent seven months preparing for the challenge, which was organised and supported by his sponsor, Red Bull.
Kriss said if he clipped the car's wing mirror, he 'could have died' – adding that he only had one chance to get the jump right.
'My mum and wife always think I'm going to die, so I always phone them straight away after'.
Kriss Kyle, BMX stunt rider
The BMX rider had to hang in the air – which was windy on the day of the jump – long enough for the car to pass below him, before landing on two wheels on the track.
'There were also really strong headwinds on the day, and that can mess up my running speed. I knew that if I clipped the rear wing, I could be dead.
'It was a pretty surreal experience. Red Bull via Supplied Kriss has said he has a 'few more tricks planned'.
'The feeling I get before doing these things is horrible, but I know I need to push through because after is the best feeling in the world of self-achievement.
'It's also such a relief of emotions. My mum and wife always think I'm going to die, so I always phone them straight away.
Kriss's last stunt saw him performing a series of audacious tricks and stunts while floating some 2,000ft above towns and countryside in a hot air balloon in Wiltshire, southwest England.
He said he was already dreaming up his next stunt before jumping over the F1 car – and said the next one will involve aeroplanes in some form.
'I've got a few more tricks planned. Even before I finished this one, I'm already thinking about what's next.
'I've got a few that involve aeroplanes.
'I just love taking bikes where they have not been before.'

Toto Wolff eats same thing every day as Mercedes F1 boss explains peculiar habit
Mercedes Formula 1 chief Toto Wolff is known for his obsessive attention to detail and pursuit of perfection and his daily routine away from the track is no different Toto Wolff is a man with an eye for detail – and the Austrian has an extraordinary daily routine that's as regimented as his Mercedes team's race strategies. The 53-year-old, who steered his squad to eight constructors' championships on the trot, is a stickler for routine. And that is even the case when it comes to his diet. In a revealing interview with the BBC, Wolff once shared the lengths he goes to in order to maintain focus during the gruelling F1 calendar, which these days spans March to December and features 24 Grand Prix weekends, six of which have a second, shorter Sprint race. He told the Desert Island Discs radio programme: "For me it is really reducing trivial things. I am wearing the same clothes, I am eating the same food – even to the point that my assistants book the same hotel room for me every single year." Wolff's dedication to simplicity extends to his breakfast choice, where he opts for "the same dark bread, pumpernickel with butter and some ham." But it doesn't stop there – his coffee ritual and meal plan are just as meticulous. He elaborated: "Small cappuccino, because I take half a cappuccino because I want to have another half an hour later, and then it is chicken breast with tomato salad [for lunch]. And I have the same for dinner also." He repeated the same dietary routine to Forbes last year, stating that he sticks to the same meal twice a day to avoid upsetting his system. The executive prefers to concentrate on his team's performance, which has been trailing behind McLaren and Ferrari this season. Wolff also has the responsibility of securing Mercedes' drivers for the upcoming season, with the contracts of both team leader George Russell and 18-year-old rookie Kimi Antonelli expiring at the end of the year as it stands, though both drivers are expected to sign renewals. Despite Wolff's dedication to excellence both personally and within Mercedes, the Brackley-based team has been lagging behind their rivals in recent seasons, since changes in the car regulations in 2021. The Woking-based outfit has been dominant this year in its quest for back-to-back constructors' titles while one of Norris or Piastri will surely become the drivers' champion for the first time. Mercedes hope to make a comeback in 2026 by getting a boost through another change in regulations, which will see new engines introduced into F1. They last time that happened was in 2014, when they built by far the best power unit and used that as a platform for their eight-in-a-row streak in the constructors'.

Trump invites Forrest to Oval Office in video call after Nexo Championship win
Grant Forrest thought a video call being lined up with Donald Trump was a wind-up, and said speaking to the US President after his tournament win was the most surreal experience of his career. President Trump congratulated Forrest after the Scot claimed victory at the Nexo Championshipe at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire on Sunday, in a moment Forrest described as 'bonkers'. And the Scot told STV he's not only been challenged to a game against the President in America, but has also been invited to the Oval Office. Forrest celebrated his first tour title in four years when he finished four shots clear of the chasing pack, and was already savouring a special moment with a title triumph on home soil. Celebrations turned to shock when he was asked to speak to the course owner, who famously loves his golf. 'I came off the 18th green, did my interviews and scorecard and lots of photos and stuff,' Forrest told STV. 'Then went into the clubhouse and they sort of shut off a wing and said 'Yeah, there's something else that they would like you to do. 'I was like, 'surely not?', you know. Sarah Malone, who's in charge up there, she was next to me and she's got President Trump as a contact on her phone. She presses FaceTime and I thought 'This has got to be a wind up'. 'It wasn't and he was standing there on on the tee at his golf course. Just bonkers, really.' Forrest described 'a heck of a few minutes' and doesn't think he'll experience anything comparable in the future. 'It was the most surreal experience, certainly in my golfing career. And I doubt anything will top that in terms of the wow factor. How many people get put on FaceTime to the US President. 'He was very complimentary. He loves his golf and is obviously very proud of his golf courses and they do an amazing job with every golf property they touch. 'It was a heck of a few minutes.' Having spoken over the phone, Forrest could now meet Trump face to face after being invited to Washington and for a round. 'He's told me to get on a plane and get over, but there was too much going on last night to even think about that,' Forrest said. 'If the offer's still there at another point, then when he's not too busy then absolutely. 'He also invited us to the Oval Office, which would be unreal but who knows? He's a busy man. 'Maybe when he's not too busy playing golf himself or doing presidential duties, but we'll see.' Forrest also took a moment to contemplate Trump's offer of a game and how that might go. 'He's won a few club championships, a fair few. I think even for his age, he still swings it pretty good. 'It depends on how many shots I have to give him.' And how many shots does the Nexo Championship winner think he would have to give the President of the United States? 'Probably whatever the Secret Service tell me I need to give him.' Max Verstappen pinpoints ‘incredible' reason for McLaren's F1 advantage
Join the Miguel Delaney: Inside Football newsletter and get behind-the-scenes access and unrivalled insight Join the Miguel Delaney: Inside Football newsletter Join the Miguel Delaney: Inside Football newsletter Email * SIGN UP I would like to be emailed about offers, events and updates from The Independent. Read our Privacy notice Max Verstappen believes he has now worked out why McLaren are dominating F1 so comprehensively this season, pointing to something that he describes as 'incredible to see'. McLaren clearly have the best car on the grid, as proven by the constructors' standings where they are a mammoth 299 points clear of second-placed Ferrari and have all-but sewn up the title ahead of the summer break. It's a similar story in the race for the drivers' crown with the title looking like a straight shootout between the team's two drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Just three of the 14 races so far have been won by a driver from another team with Verstappen taking the chequered flag twice and Mercedes's George Russell triumphing in Canada. Piastri leads his McLaren teammate in the drivers' standings, although Norris closed the gap to a mere nine points by winning in Hungary in the final race before the summer break. Over the past 18 months, McLaren's MCL39 appears to keep it tyres alive longer than any other car on the grid. That has led to plenty of speculation as to why but while Red Bull star Verstappen acknowledges that the minimal tyre degradation does play a role, he has highlighted another reason for their success – their medium corner speed. open image in gallery McLaren's dominance is showing no signs of abating ( Getty Images ) 'It's definitely better on its tyres', Verstappen told the media. 'But at the same time, I think their medium speed performance is incredible compared to, I would say, everyone else on the grid. 'The rotation that they have on the front axle, without losing the rear, is something that is also quite incredible to see, and that's something that we have to try to achieve.' Any mid-season improvements from their rivals may come too late to catch a rampant McLaren but the rule changes coming into force for the 2026 season could signal a shifting of the guard. In the meantime, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella responded to Verstappen's cornering speed assessment. open image in gallery McLaren's MCL39 has been the best car on the grid by far ( Getty Images ) 'That's an easy answer because it can be answered just by looking at the GPS data,' Stella replied. 'When you look at the speed comparison with some other teams, the data says that McLaren can generate the highest mid-corner speed in medium-speed corners. 'So, I think the assessment of Max is correct. 'We still have our weak points. If you go on a very high-speed corner like Copse, for instance, or Pouhon, we are not the fastest car. Likewise, probably in very low speed, we are not the fastest car. 'But the majority of corners in a championship happen to be medium-speed corners, and certainly in that range, our car is, data in hand, the best.'
