Coronation Street fans have been left in tears as Daisy Midgeley said goodbye to the cobbles in an 'iconic' exit - with fans hailing it as one of the soaps best exits in a while
Coronation Street fans were left in tears after Friday night's episode, as the soap said goodbye to Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) after five years on the cobbles.
Daisy's exit came just as she was taking revenge on stepmother Jenny Connor, Sally's character, over some money she had gained from shares given to her by Daisy's dad. She kept the £60k windfall from Daisy at a time that they were both in debt to Carla Connor, sparking a revenge plan.

During tonight's episode, Jenny was seen trying to persuade Daisy to say, as she responded: "It's only Brighton, to start with anyway." Daisy then went on to say her emotional goodbyes to Ryan Connor and Bertie and Daniel Osbourne.

Towards the end of the episode, Jenny and Christina came to the realisation that Daisy had left Weatherfield with Jenny's money that she thought she was investing in catfisher Dom. "I didn't think she had it in her," her mother Christina laughed.
Jenny was then seen in tears running after the taxi, as she rang Daisy in tears screaming: "I should report you to the police! No one would blame me!"
Daisy's voice was then heard reading a letter to some of the residents, including Bernie and Daniel as she bought them tickets to Disneyland Paris, as the song Movin' On Up was heard playing in the background.
The character was then seen checking flights from Manchester to Bali at the back of the taxi, as she put her sunglasses on, telling the driver to "turn it up," as fans hailed the exit "iconic".

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, after watching the show, one fan penned: "but let's actually acknowledge that this is the best exit corrie has done in a longgg time!! gorgeous episode with such emotive scenes, daisy will be missed for sure #corrie," while a second agreed: "Need Daisy to have her own spin off show. Iconic final scene from ar diva… you don't realise what you have till it's gone."
"Daisy Midgeley, what an iconic exit!! Still fuming they got rid of her," exclaimed a third fan, while another said: "omg that Daisy exit was actually so sooo good, especially that closing scene to Primal Scream Movin' On Up - obsessed #Corrie."
A fifth emotional fan simply wrote: "I love you Daisy Midgeley," along with a crying emoji.
However, fans may be able to wipe their tears soon, as Charlotte revealed the door had been left open for her. She hinted she could be back, suggesting it wasn't a "forever" farewell.
She said: "It's a very special building, and I have loved it. And it's just goodbye for now, not goodbye forever." Charlotte also talked about her final day on set and filming her last ever scenes.

This Morning star demands 'stop the show' as viewers 'switch off'

Andi Peters and Emma Willis took to our screens on Monday to host ITV's This Morning, with the pair dividing TV viewers This Morning returned to our screens on Monday (11 August), with Andi Peters and Emma Willis leading the ITV programme. ‌ The pair have stepped in as the latest presenting team, giving regular hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard a well-deserved summer holiday. ‌ Andi and Emma launched into the day's show by teasing upcoming segments for viewers, including top news stories and a culinary segment with Elliott Grover. It was during this preview that Emma dropped a bombshell. ‌ "Elliott, I would say that looks delicious, but I don't eat fish," she chuckled. Andi couldn't hide his shock, dramatically declaring, "Wow, wow, wow. Stop the show!" "You don't eat fish?! Never, ever ever?! I can't believe it!" he pressed on. "So, when they come up to you in the restaurant and say 'Dietary requirements?' you say 'I don't eat fish'?" ‌ Emma went on to detail her food choices, emphasising that avoiding fish is a personal preference rather than a necessity. She confessed, "I did eat a prawn on this show once! Just because I'd never eaten a prawn, and I was like, I'll give it a go. So, I might have a sample today, seeing as it's you, Elliott, I might." The response from ITV viewers to Andi and Emma hosting This Morning was mixed, with many voicing their opinions on social media, reports the Mirror. ‌ "I've switched off already #ThisMorning," one viewer expressed on Twitter, while another commented: "Irritating/over the top Andi Peters.. time to switch over #thismorning." A third This Morning viewer took to social media to express their frustration: "He's annoying me already and not even two minutes in #thismorning." ‌ However, another viewer countered, "Oh, I'm so glad Andy is on. In my opinion, he's not presenting enough," whilst a fellow fan chimed in: "I love Andi Peters #thismorning." Emma and Andi delivered an action-packed programme to ITV audiences on Monday. The broadcast featured a chat with The Only Way Is Essex personalities Amy Childs and Harry Derbidge, a discussion about weight loss injections, and one lady detailing her personal journey with the treatments, which led to her weight yo-yoing. The presenting pair were also accompanied by Gyles Brandreth and Tim Campbell to examine the day's top stories and breaking news, while a separate feature, hosted by Phil Vickery from Leicester, focused on Walker's upcoming crisp flavours, which are set to hit shelves soon.

Double Corrie proposal shock in early ITVX release as news reaches the cobbles

This article contains spoilers for tonight's Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX. Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) was overjoyed in tonight's Coronation Street when not one but two of his family members revealed their engagement plans. While searching for engagement cards in the Kabin, Ryan revealed to Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) that Ali Neeson had proposed to his girlfriend. Ali was Michelle Connor's biological son, who was switched with Ryan at birth after a hospital mix up. He was first introduced to Michelle's life in 2007, before reconnecting with her after moving to Weatherfield in 2018. In 2020, he left the cobbles after a vicious feud with Gary Windass (Mikey North). Now, it seems things are going well for the GP, with Ryan expressing his shock that his partner had agreed to marry him. Ali wasn't the only Connor with a proposal on the mind though, as Carla Connor (Alison King) later admitted to Ryan that she planned to propose to girlfriend Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). Carla and Lisa have been together since November 2024, and Lisa attempted to take their relationship to the next level by asking Carla to marry her earlier this year. However, the proposal was a spur of the moment thing that stemmed from Lisa's grief over Craig Tinker's death, so Carla told her that it wasn't the right time. Now though, the couple are in a good place, having just bought their first house together. Prior to Carla's chat with Ryan, it became clear just how well suited she and Lisa are when the detective organised for them to attend a life drawing class, knowing that Carla wanted to go. Carla was touched by the gesture, especially as she knew it wasn't really Lisa's thing. When their time at the class was brought to an abrupt end by a disaster at the factory caused by Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin), Lisa appreciated how Carla handled the situation without snapping at Betsy. As Carla admitted that she was starting to feel like Betsy was her own daughter, Lisa was thrilled. With things going so well for the couple, it was no surprise that Carla felt ready to take the next step. Arriving home, Ryan grew instantly suspicious when he found Carla rooting through Lisa's jewellery box. Carla was quick to explain that she was trying to find out Lisa's ring size, as she wanted to pop the question. Ryan was clearly over the moon at the news as he pulled Carla into a hug, with the factory boss admitting that she hadn't been this happy in a long time. Later this week, Carla is set to get her proposal plan underway, as she picks up a delivery of the engagement ring. She then heads to the Rovers, where she gives the ring to Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) and asks her to drop it into Lisa's champagne glass. On screen, Lisa and Carla have already joked about an Ibiza wedding, and actress Vicky Myers was very much on board with the idea when I spoke to her at the British Soap Awards earlier this year. Ray Brooks, voice of Mr Benn, dies aged 86

English actor Ray Brooks has died at the age of 86 after a short illness. Brooks was best known for narrating the 1970s children's TV show Mr Benn and for his role in EastEnders playing Joe Macer, who killed his wife Pauline Fowler. The actor died peacefully on Saturday with his loved ones at his bedside, according to a statement shared by his family with the BBC. The statement also revealed that Brooks had spent the last few years living with dementia. BBC/EastEnders Ray Brooks played Joe Macer in EastEnders. BBC/EastEnders Brooks' sons, Will and Tom, said: 'His three true loves were family (he also had a daughter Emma, who died in 2003), Fulham Football Club, and spending time in Brighton, where he was born.' The cartoon Mr Benn, narrated by Brooks, follows the character who enters a magical costume shop and travels to new places based on the costumes he wears. Despite the cartoon only releasing 13 episodes, it became well known for generations of children as episodes were repeated twice a year for more than 21 years. Brooks went on to appear in a host of different primetime television shows including ITV's Coronation Street, in which he played Norman Philips. He also starred in the BBC comedy drama Big Deal, which followed gambler Robbie Box as he tried to make a living by betting while also trying to maintain his relationship with Jan, played by Sharon Duce. Brooks earned himself a number of film credits, including a role in The Knack… And How To Get It, which won the 1965 Palme D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. A year later he starred in Ken Loach's Cathy Come Home, which documented the impact of Britain's housing shortage in the late 1960s.
