Arsenal had the better of the opening exchanges and Ethan Nwaneri nearly opened the scoring with a neat turn and fierce strike from the edge of the area that forced Pietro Terracciano into a full-stretch save.
Milan also went close and Alexis Saelemaekers' curling first-time strike from Christian Pulisic's cut-back went narrowly over the crossbar.
Arsenal ended the first period on top and Gabriel Martinelli's shot was deflected narrowly wide before Riccardo Calafiori's header was cleared off the line in injury time.
Mikel Arteta made six half time substitutes and handed debuts to Martín Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Another second-half sub, Jakub Kiwior made a quick impact and crossed for the unmarked Bukayo Saka to tap in from inside the six-yard box.
Rafael Leão tried to claw a goal back for Milan with 20 minutes remaining after a mazy solo run and strike from distance that Arsenal debutant Kepa Arrizabalaga held comfortably.
Lorenzo Torriani prevented a late Arsenal second with two reaction saves from Mikel Merino's close-range header and Leandro Trossard's fierce strike.
The contest concluded with a penalty shoot-out, which Milan won 6-5 after Christian Comotto scored the decisive penalty, despite Kepa saving three spot-kicks.
Arsenal face Newcastle next to conclude their pre-season tour of Singapore, while Milan will take on Premier League champions Liverpool on Saturday.

🚨 BREAKING: Crystal Palace defender completes MLS move

MLS side Colorado Rapids have signed Rob Holding from Crystal Palace on a free transfer. The former Arsenal defender had one year remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park, but agreed to depart on a free this summer. He has now signed an 18-month contract with the American club through to the 2026 season. Holding struggled to break into the Eagles' first team after joining from Arsenal in 2023 for £4m and played just one senior game. He spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan with Championship outfit Sheffield United and made 11 appearances. The 29-year-old featured over 160 times for the Gunners before his move across London and won two FA Cups. Holding is expected to provide valuable first-team experience for the Rapids, who are chasing a play-off spot in the MLS Western Conference. 📸 Patrick Khachfe - 2024 Getty Images

Atalanta Talisman Still Top Target For Inter Milan – Chelsea & Man United Outcasts Plan B Options

Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman is still Inter Milan's top target in attack, while Christopher Nkunku and Jadon Sancho are Plan B targets. This according to Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNEws. Inter Milan have been chasing for several weeks. And it would be fair to say that the transfer saga has blown up into an outright soap opera. This has been the results of Atalanta's reluctance to sell the Nigerian international. They have so far rejected two bids from Inter. On the other hand, Lookman himself is absolutely dead set on making the move to the Nerazzurri. (Photo by) After Lookman publicly requested a transfer today, Inter are still determine to sign the 27-year-old former RB Leipzig and Leicester City forward. Therefore, reports Sky Sport Italia, the Nerazzurri are not focusing on the idea of having a Plan B. Rather, Inter are still going to make signing Lookman their top priority. However, if Inter are not able to sign the Nigerian, there are a couple backup targets they could move onto. One would be out-of-favour Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku. And staying within the Premier League, Inter could also move for Jadon Sancho, who Manchester United definitely want to sell.

Nigeria ‘stand with Lookman' after his rage against Atalanta

The Ademola Lookman situation is escalating after his damning statement complaining of 'broken promises' and 'bad treatment' by Atalanta, as the Nigeria national team 'stands with' him. The striker broke his silence on the club refusing to accept the latest offer from Inter, which is believed to be worth €42m plus €3m in add-ons. La Dea are requesting €50m, but he insists the proposal is sufficient for a sale and they are 'blocking the opportunity for reasons I do not understand.' EPA-EFE/MOHAMMED BADRA He announced via Instagram that he has made a formal transfer request to Atalanta, although never mentioning Inter, this is his desired destination. 'As a result and after many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me as both a human being and as a professional footballer, sadly I feel I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right and I feel that enough is enough. I can confirm I have now handed in a formal transfer request.' Now the Nigeria national team has got involved with the situation, posting a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, that puts the blame squarely on Atalanta. Set to turn 28 in October, Lookman was purchased from RB Leipzig for €10.85m plus add-ons in 2022 and flourished, winning the Europa League with a hat-trick in the Final and being named African Player of the Year.
