Shilpa Layout Flyover ready to ease traffic
HYDERABAD: The six-lane bi-directional Shilpa Layout Flyover (Phase-2), connecting Gachibowli to Kondapur, is complete and ready for inauguration.
Once opened to the public, the flyover will ease traffic flow at Gachibowli Junction by facilitating conflict-free movement between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Kondapur, and also improves connectivity between Hitech City and the Financial District.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to inaugurate the flyover in the first week of June. The flyover, part of the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP), was built at a cost of `178 crore. It spans 1.20 km in length and 24 metres in width with six lanes. It is a third-level structure built above two existing flyovers — the Gachibowli Junction Flyover and the Shilpa Layout Phase-1 Flyover. With this, 37 out of 42 SRDP works have been completed.
GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan recently inspected the project and instructed engineers to finish the remaining work promptly.
Meanwhile, Karnan has asked SCR officials to complete the railway portions of the Falaknuma and Shastripuram ROBs in the next two to three months. The Falaknuma ROB is scheduled for completion by the end of July and the Shastripuram ROB by the end of August. Their completion will bring the total number of completed SRDP works to 39.

Anantapur-Bengaluru train flagged off
The much-awaited direct train service from Anantapur to Bengaluru was flagged off by Anantapur MP Ambica G. Lakshminarayana from the Anantapur railway station, on Wednesday. District Collector Vinod Kumar V., Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha and DRM Chandrasekhar Gupta were also present during the occasion. The train no. 66560, which now runs from Anantapur to Bengaluru, used to run between Puttaparthi in Sri Sathya Sai district and KSR Bengaluru railway station under the Western Railways. Speaking after flagging off the train, Mr. Lakshminarayana said that the railway authorities have said that a separate pilot has to be allotted for the train which will start from Anantapur as it falls under South Central Railways (SCR). The MP said that he had taken up the issue with Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna and other senior railway officials, and got the train extended till Anantapur. Earlier, the train used to have eight compartments and now it has been extended to 12, said Mr. Lakshminarayana. The long-cherished dream of the people of Anantapur has finally come true with the flagging off of the first train starting from the district, the MP said. He said that extension of the train service will be especially beneficial for students, parents, traders, and local residents traveling for medical and other emergency purposes. Highlighting cost effectiveness of rail transport, he stated that passengers can travel from Anantapur to Bengaluru for just ₹50. The MP expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for their support in enhancing the rail infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh. He further informed that the State has received a record budget allocation of ₹9,417 crore for the financial year 2025–26, the highest-ever compared to previous years. Mr. Lakshminarayana also said the Anantapur railway station is being redeveloped at a cost of ₹29.20 crores in a phased manner under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). The redeveloped station will be equipped with modern passenger amenities and world-class facilities, he said. Additionally, Dharmavaram, Hindupuram, Tadipatri, and Gooty railway stations will also be redeveloped under the ABSS, he added. Meanwhile, Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha appreciated the efforts of the MP in ensuring the extension of train no. 66559/66560 KSR Bengaluru–Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Nilayam–KSR Bengaluru MEMU service up to Anantapur. She said that the extended service will cater to the needs of various groups in the society. She also requested for more trains from Anantapur towards Vijayawada and Guntur. Earlier, Chandrashekar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Guntakal Division said that the extension of the Anantapur–KSR Bengaluru MEMU marks a significant milestone in enhancing rail connectivity and re-affirming the Railways' commitment towards providing best rail infrastructure for the people in the region. RUB gets govt's green light; work set to commence soon
Hyderabad: The Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Level Crossing (LC) Gate-249, which has been pending for a long time, will finally see the light of the day, as the consent was obtained from the Medchal- Malkajgiri Collector recently. According to the sources, for the past several years, the proposed RUB at LC Gate 249 at Turkapally has been lying in the district collector's office for approval and recently, the collector has given the green signal to begin the works. Now the stretch has been dug up and LC Gate on New Bolaram to Turkapally Village main road has been closed and commuters have been verbally urged to take alternate routes. The RUB is sanctioned in lieu of LC No-249 (Turkapally) on the SC-MUE section which is combined work with ten LCs (Sanctioned cost of 10 LCs is Rs 49.50 crore). This will help in strengthening the safety for both road and rail users, facilitate seamless movement of traffic for road users at level crossing gates, said a senior officer, SCR. Murali Krishna, president of Federation of New Bolarum, said, 'Many colonies in Turkapally are cut off due to LC 249 and several motorists are being forced to wait for hours to cross the rail gate every day, as it provides an intermediate connection between the National Highway-44 at Kompally and the Rajiv Rahadari.' Even as several RTIs were filed and many inspections were conducted by the railways as well as the state government, the final nod from the collector was pending, which resulted in delay of the project. The RUBs at this stretch will help in the smooth flow of traffic once they are complete, he added.

Telangana to build 80 acre eco-town inspired by Japan's Kitakyushu city
The Telangana government will develop an eco-town spread across 80 acres, inspired by the Japanese city of Kitakyushu, to meet the needs of future generations with a strong focus on sustainable development , state Minister for Information Technology and Industries D Sridhar Babu said. Speaking at a conference titled "From Kitakyushu to Telangana: Catalysing Sustainable Industrial Growth" here on Monday, the Minister said the initiative stems from a mutual cooperation agreement signed between Telangana and Kitakyushu, which will act as a strategic roadmap for this project, an official release said.
