Katie Price 'heartbroken' as kids 'advised to stay away' due to 'toxic brand'
Former glamour model Katie Price's children Junior and Princess, who she shares with ex-husband Peter Andre, are said to be keeping a 'professional distance' from their mum
Katie Price has reportedly been left heartbroken after suggestions emerged that two of her eldest children, Princess and Junior, should publicly distance themselves due to worries over her unpredictable behaviour.
The former glamour model's eldest two children, who she had with ex-husband Peter Andre, are carving their own niches in the limelight but are seemingly steering clear from being associated with their mum's celebrity status.
A source confided in Express.co.uk: "There's been a clear shift. Princess and Junior love their mum but have been advised not to mix business with family, especially when it comes to joint red carpet appearances or interviews. It's not about cutting her off, it's about protecting their own brands."
These revelations come in the wake of Katie, 47, facing a variety of legal woes, including a warrant for her arrest issued in March when she failed to attend a court date concerning her bankruptcy case.
Despite owing in excess of £750,000 to creditors, Katie defended herself saying she was abroad at the time of the hearing. After being detained at Heathrow Airport upon her return to the UK, Katie made an appearance at the High Court.
The star has been discharged of her tax debts since, with her overdue payments comprising income tax, VAT, surcharges and interest, as reported by the Express, all accumulated from self-assessments in the two years leading up to 2022.
Katie Price has recently come under fire from animal rights campaigners after she shared a video showing her new puppy Rookie looking distressed during horse riding activities.
"She's constantly in the headlines for the wrong reasons," an insider commented.
"It's tough for her kids who are trying to build their own reputations. No one wants to see their parent branded 'toxic' online, but it's the reality they're navigating."
Asked for a statement by Express.co.uk, Katie's representative declined to comment.
Princess, 17, is carving out her niche with multiple beauty deals and is rumoured to be putting together a reality show separate from her mother's fame.
Her brother Junior, 19, is forging ahead with his music ambitions, often appearing alongside his dad Peter and stepmum Emily at events.
Despite any possible friction, Katie opened up about her relationship with her children on The Katie Price Show podcast, expressing: "They're doing their own thing, they're busy, but I'm always here for them."
Regarding co-parenting with ex-husband Peter Andre, she admitted: "I don't always agree with things, but at the end of the day we both love the kids and that's what matters."
Sources say there might be a "professional distance" between Katie and her children's burgeoning careers for some time yet.
The source added: "They'll never turn their backs on Katie, but when it comes to their careers, they're being smart. They want to be seen as individuals, not as part of the circus."

Trial date set for three men charged over fires at Keir Starmer properties
A trial date has been set for three men charged in connection with arson attacks on two properties and a car linked to Sir Keir Starmer. Ukrainian national Roman Lavrynovych, 21, and Romanian national Stanislav Carpiuc, 26, appeared together at the Old Bailey on Friday. Ukrainian national Petro Pochynok, 34, refused to attend the hearing. Two of the fires took place in Kentish Town, north London – one in the early hours of May 12 at the home where Sir Keir lived before he became Prime Minister and moved into Downing Street. The other fire was on May 11 at the front door of a house converted into flats in Islington. Lavrynovych, of Lewisham, south-east London, has been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life on May 8, May 11 and May 12. Carpiuc, from Romford, east London, and Pochynok, of Islington, north London, are each accused of one count of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life between April 17 and May 13. Lavrynovych and Carpiuc appeared at the hearing via videolink from HMP Belmarsh, and spoke only to confirm their identities and dates of birth via an interpreter. Ms Justice Cheema Grubb told the court that Pochynok had refused to leave his cell for the preliminary hearing. All three defendants were remanded in custody to next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing at the same court on October 17. A provisional trial date was set for April 27 next year in front of a High Court judge. A fourth person, a 48-year-old man, was arrested by police at Stansted Airport on Monday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life in connection with the incidents. The Metropolitan Police said he had been released on bail until next month. WASPI women announce new update in challenge for State Pension age change compensation
The WASPI campaign says they have been given a green light for High Court challenge. The Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) campaign group say they have cleared a significant hurdle in their battle for a High Court challenge. WASPI is seeking a judicial review to force the UK Government to reconsider its decision to rule out a compensation package for women affected by the way changes to the State Pension age were communicated. The campaigners announced on Friday they have received an update to say that their case is arguable, setting them on course for a court hearing. A previous report by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) suggested compensation ranging between £1,000 and £2,950 could be appropriate for each of those affected. However, in December 2024, the UK Government said that, while it accepted the Ombudsman's finding of maladministration and apologised for there being a delay in writing to 1950s-born women, a blanket compensation scheme, which could cost taxpayers up to £10.5 billion, cannot be justified. WASPI campaigners submitted arguments back in February for a legal case challenging the decision not to compensate women. Lawyers for the campaigners argue that the UK Government's reasons for concluding that people should not receive any remedy are a breach of legal principles. WASPI said it also expects a hearing to consider its application for a costs capping order, so that campaigners would not be forced to pay unknown costs to cover the legal fees should they lose. However, the group said that it may be forced to withdraw its challenge without this financial safeguard. It is also calling on supporters to help raise further funds for the legal challenge. WASPI chairwoman Angela Madden described the green light in its legal challenge as a 'landmark moment in our campaign'. She said: 'We are grateful for the funds raised so far and understand the country's purse strings are tight, but the Government cannot be allowed to brush this injustice aside.' Earlier this week, WASPI launched a new interactive tool which shows the UK-wide state of play of MP support for a compensation scheme for an estimated 3.6 million women affected by changes to their retirement age. The new analysis shows 179 MPs have publicly blasted the UK Government's decision not to compensate WASPI women in recent months. WASPI said that of these, 56 Labour MPs have openly criticised Downing Street's failure to deliver justice, while dozens more are thought to be supportive behind the scenes, including several senior ministers. The map shows how smaller parties are almost unanimous in their support, with a strong coalition of Liberal Democrat, Reform UK, SNP, Green, Plaid Cymru and DUP MPs backing calls to compensate WASPI women. The smaller parties are almost unanimous in their support, with a strong coalition of Liberal Democrat, Reform UK, SNP, Green, Plaid Cymru and DUP MPs backing calls to compensate WASPI women. Around a dozen Conservative MPs have also recently reaffirmed their support for compensation. The findings come at the launch of WASPI's new website, which has new resources to enable supporters to write to their MP and join the campaign for as little as £15 per year. Some of the strongest advocates for WASPI women include members of the State Pension Inequality for Women APPG, chaired by Labour MP Rebecca Long-Bailey. The cross-party group of MPs is one of the largest in Parliament and includes representatives from across the major political parties who have vowed to continue the fight for justice. However, WASPI campaigners say 134 MPs previously backed calls for compensation but have failed to reaffirm their support since the Labour Government's announcement in December. The figures do not include serving government ministers or whips, at least 80 of whom have previously pledged their support for the campaign. All MPs' positions on compensation can be found on WASPI's interactive 'state of the nation' map, alongside new campaign resources, here.
