OnePlus Nord 5 review
512GB 12GB RAM € 549.00
The OnePlus Nord 5 offers a handful of new upgrades and a completely revamped design, more aligned with the current design trends but still crafted tastefully.
In fact, the new Nord 5 has an iPhone-esque vibe. Okay, maybe not in the sense of the iPhone Pros, but the vanilla iPhone. More importantly, OnePlus didn't go crazy with the camera island, unlike most smartphone makers.
This year's Nord also really packs a punch. It's the first in the Nord family to feature a Snapdragon 8 series chipset. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is quite powerful and offers near-flagship-level GPU performance on a budget.
OnePlus has fitted the Nord 5 with a matching display, making it the first OnePlus to offer a 144Hz display. But it's not only faster but also bigger, too, measuring 6.83" in diagonal.
As for battery capacity, the Indian market will enjoy the top capacity of 6,800mAh. The Chinese version of the phone is dubbed OnePlus Ace Ultra, and it, too, comes with an extra-large battery pack.

We are reviewing the European spec device, however, and it comes with a paltry 5,200 mAh cell. That's even a slight downgrade from last year's Nord 4, which had a 5,500 mAh battery. Go figure! Another novelty is the new Plus Key replaces the good old Alert Slider, kinda like Apple replaced it with an Action key on the iPhone. The Plus Key still functions as a switch between different sound profiles by default, but you can also you can assign other actions to it, such as taking a screenshot, translating text, recording audio, launching the camera, activating the flashlight, or summoning the AI Plus Mind tool.
The camera system has also received some love this year, with the Nord bringing a significant upgrade in the selfie department. It's now wider and supposedly sharper thanks to a bigger 50MP sensor.
It looks like OnePlus is aiming at the all-rounder title in the segment with the Nord 5, but competition is still pretty strong in the €500-600 tier. Let's see how it stacks against its rivals. Unboxing the OnePlus Nord 5
We received the European variant, so the retail box is quite modest. The handset comes with the usual user manuals and includes only a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging and data transfer. There's no charger in the box or a protective case.
The Indian retail package contains the appropriate 80W SuperVOOC power adapter and a protective case.

This is why Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 units aren't unfolding fully
A few days ago, a concerning bit of news reached our ears: Fold 7 units weren't unfolding properly when customers went to look at them in stores. This occurrence now has a semi-official explanation, and the bottom line is that you shouldn't worry about this if you're considering buying Samsung's best insider with close ties to the supply chain has revealed ( translated source ) that there is nothing inherently wrong with the Galaxy Z Fold 7. They say it's an 'official explanation' but, in Chinese tech circles, that usually means that someone on the inside has relayed this information. Basically, the Fold 7 has an adhesive that coats its main display. When these phones remain folded for a very long time, and are then unfolded, the adhesive can take a while to fully recover and adapt to its changing form. After some general use, the screen should begin to properly unfold. You can also apply slight pressure to unfold it completely, though I'd rather let the adhesive take its time. The gist is that the Fold 7 demo units that consumers encountered this problem with probably remained untouched for quite a while before. Galaxy Z Fold 7 greatly improved the crease visibility. | Image credit — PhoneArena You may even encounter this problem on a Fold 7 that you've ordered, but now you know that it doesn't mean that you've received a defective unit. And, if this isn't your first foldable, you might have already encountered this phenomenon before, and were confused about people making it a big deal. Most Fold 7 units seem to unfold properly without any problems right out of the box. What's interesting to me is whether next year's foldable iPhone will also have this problem. Reports are claiming that Apple's foldable has the most advanced display and hinge technology in the entire industry. This is because the company has been trying its hardest to produce a foldable phone that has a completely invisible crease. Much like the problem with the Fold 7 , however, an invisible crease isn't seeming too likely with current technology. Aside from this minor pet peeve, the only real downsides to the Fold 7 are the 4,400 mAh battery, and the lack of S Pen support. Other than that, it's one of the most advanced phones that Samsung has ever made.

Oppo A6 series to bring some surprises
Oppo's A5 family launched in China in December and March with the A5 and A5 Pro, and the company is already rumored to be working on the upcoming A6 series, which will allegedly bring about some interesting changes. While it's unclear how many devices it will comprise, there will be two new, or at least differently named models: the A6 GT and A6 Max. These are both said to target the CNY 1,000 or thereabouts market - that's approximately $139 or €119 at the current exchange rates. Oppo A5 Pro for China Despite the low price, we should apparently expect to see them sporting large flat LTPS OLED screens with "1.5K" resolution, dual rear cameras with a 50 MP main, and large batteries. They will both be powered by Snapdragon 7 series chips, though possibly older ones to hit that price point. We're looking forward to hearing more about these devices soon, and we'll let you know when we do. Source (in Chinese)
