Your AirPods are about to get smarter about charging – and you'll thank iOS 26 for it next month

iOS 26 is currently in beta testing before its official launch with the new iPhone 17 lineup in September. Now, apart from bringing a redesign dubbed Liquid Glass and updates to the Camera app, Safari, and others, there are also plenty of subtle changes here and there that weren't mentioned during Apple's WWDC 2025. Now, in the fifth beta of iOS 26 , Apple has seemingly upgraded AirPods charging. Found in the code of the OS is a new mention about the AirPods Charging case, which will now indicate more clearly the charging status. Also, the AirPods may remind you when it's time to charge. A screenshot that's been circulating online shows an AirPods splash screen with the same wording. The image shows what the light on the AirPods charging case may mean. Now, reportedly, we'll have two different shades of amber for Charging and Charge Case, with the regular green one that indicates the AirPods are charged. Image Credit - @minimalnerd1 on X" Right now, the AirPods charging case uses an amber light when the case is charging, and a green light when it's fully charged. When the AirPods case is open and the AirPods are inside, the green light on the indicator means the AirPods are fully charged, while an amber light would then mean there is less than one full charge remaining. It's possible that the amber light indicating that the AirPods charging case needs to be charged may show up even when the case is closed. Apparently, judging by Apple's wording in the iOS code, there must be something new coming with iOS 26 for AirPods charging. In previous iOS 26 beta releases, Apple added an iPhone notification to inform you when the AirPods need to be charged, which is an excellent addition, in my opinion. The notification may be sent even if you're not currently using the AirPods. To be honest, I'm hyped about iOS 26 just because of this one simple feature. In other words, even if iOS 26 didn't bring anything else, I'd still be in a hurry to install it. It's just not one or two times I've forgotten my AirPods uncharged, and when they're needed, they're not at their full charge. Apple CEO Tim Cook presents President Trump with an exquisite gift in another effort to combat tariffs

*Image credit — Reuters Apple CEO Tim Cook wasn't able to keep President Donald Trump from imposing tariffs that hurt the company this time around, unlike the president's first term. Now, in another show of solidarity, the CEO has presented the president with an exquisite, custom-made, and quite expensive gift.A circular cutout of Corning glass adorned on top of a 24-karat gold base. The glass has the Apple logo engraved on it, front and center, with the president's name displayed above. Under the logo is Tim Cook 's signature, and the words 'Made in USA 2025'. Below the president's name is the title that signifies the purpose of this item: Apple American Manufacturing Program. The unique item was gifted to the president by Cook during discussions about Apple's U.S. manufacturing plans, being held in the White House. Apple first tried to circumvent tariffs imposed on China by shifting the majority of its production to India, but President Trump called out the company's attempts. India has gotten much higher tariffs placed on it than most countries, as the president urges Cook to manufacture the iPhone Stateside. Most iPhone 16 models currently in the U.S. were imported from India. | Image credit — PhoneArena There have been many reports about how much an American-made iPhone would cost. Some analysts claim that such a product would cost approximately $3,000, and perhaps even more. Others say that this is just fearmongering, and that Apple isn't stupid enough to sell such an expensive phone. There are also some who believe that the company will never shift manufacturing to the — Apple's largest rival in the smartphone market in the U.S. — has mostly remained in the clear. Not being an American company has meant that the president hasn't specifically asked for a Galaxy S25 to be manufactured in the country. Samsung also moved its production out of China years ago, and has dodged the worst of the tariffs. Samsung is safe for now. | Image credit — PhoneArena It's unclear what Cook is planning at the moment. Perhaps he might try to use some components manufactured Stateside in the iPhone 17 or beyond, and try to convince the president that Apple is helping the American economy. Maybe this is all just a show, and the company is just waiting for the current administration's term to come to an end, so things can go back to normal. This wouldn't be the first time that Tim Cook has presented President Trump with a gift: the CEO had also donated one million Dollars to the president's inauguration ceremony earlier this year. However, these gestures have yet to pay out what Cook is hoping for, another term where Apple is exempted from tariffs.

Poco M7 Plus' launch date and design revealed

Xiaomi sub-brand Poco started teasing the Poco M7 Plus a few days ago, and today, it announced that the smartphone will be unveiled on August 13 in India. Additionally, the Chinese brand said that the Poco M7 Plus will be sold in India through Flipkart and also revealed its design. The smartphone features a USB-C port, and its back cover sports a vertically-aligned camera island on the left. Upon close inspection, you can see that the camera island has "50MP AI CAM" written on it, which confirms the Poco M7 Plus' primary camera will use a 50MP sensor. Previously, Poco confirmed that the Poco M7 Plus will pack a 7,000 mAh Si/C battery and will be launched in the sub-INR15,000 segment. While Poco hasn't detailed the M7 Plus' specs sheet, rumors claim it will be a version of the Redmi 15 5G. If that's true, you'll get the Poco M7 Plus with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC, a 6.9" FullHD+ 144Hz LCD, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, and an 8MP selfie camera. The smartphone will support 33W charging and feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
