Former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has completed his inquiry with the Kaleshwaram Commission, which lasted approximately 50 minutes. Commission Chairman P.C. Ghosh interrogated KCR regarding the Kaleshwaram project, during which the former chief minister submitted several documents.
Following the inquiry at BRK Bhavan in Hyderabad, KCR greeted supporters before departing. Upon arrival, he noted he was suffering from a cold, prompting the commission to make a significant decision to cancel the planned open court session and conduct the questioning in private.
KCR was the 115th individual to give evidence to the commission, which has now interviewed a total of 114 witnesses.
After concluding his testimony, KCR headed directly to Yashoda Hospital to visit Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy. Reddy had sustained an injury to his hip bone following an accidental slip at KCR's farmhouse in Siddipet earlier in the day. He was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.

Congress warns KTR against making ‘derogatory' comments on CM

HYDERABAD Congress warned BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao against making 'derogatory' comments on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, and accused him of stooping to 'low-level language' and trying to incite political unrest. At separate press conferences at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, MLC Venkat Balmoor, Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, Road Development Corporation Chairman Malreddy Ramreddy and TPCC general secretary Chanagani Dayakar termed KTR's 'outburst' as 'rattled by the Kaleshwaram fiasco being exposed'. Mr. Balmoor said that the unwarranted remarks were aimed at instigating party workers to create tensions so that the situation could spiral into street-level clashes. Congress workers will not tolerate such 'nonsense' from KTR, he warned. Mr. Patel Ramesh Reddy said those speaking ill about the Chief Minister will not be spared, questioning the tone and tenor of KTR's words. 'His utterances only reflect the frustration set in the BRS leadership as they are bound to face punishment for their corruption and inefficiency in executing the Kaleshawaram project.' Mr. Dayakar said that the entire KCR family was shaken by the probe into Kaleshwaram project and KTR speaking in abusive language against the CM was not acceptable. Echoing similar sentiments, Mr. Ramreddy accused the previous BRS regime of turning Telangana into a 'debt trap' and said that the Congress government under Mr. Revanth Reddy was committed to reversing that legacy through comprehensive welfare and development initiatives. 'People of Telangana will give BRS a fitting reply in the local body,' he asserted. Later, Mr. Venkat Balmoor complained to the Cyber Cell against KTR and also MLA Kaushik Reddy for using their social media platforms to post objectionable and baseless remarks against the CM. He said that the defamatory comments posed a serious threat to law and order in the State. He specifically condemned Mr. Kaushik Reddy's remarks and said, 'It is unacceptable for a public representative to stoop to such levels and misuse digital platforms.'

Thai wedding, 19 plots, 4 flats: Telangana engineer arrested in graft case

An executive engineer in Telangana's Irrigation and Command Area Development Department, Nune Sridhar, has been arrested after the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) unearthed assets worth several crores allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income. The officer was arrested following searches at 13 locations linked to him and his relatives. According to the ACB, Sridhar, who served in Division number 8, SRSP Camp, Choppadandi, Karimnagar, is accused of acquiring properties through 'unlawful practices and dubious means'. The searches revealed a sprawling web of assets, including luxury real estate and lavish personal expenses. Telangana Engineer's lavish lifestyle under scrutiny Among the most talked-about discoveries was a destination wedding hosted by Sridhar in Thailand for his son, on which he reportedly spent crores. Authorities also traced a high-end 4,500 sq ft flat in Sky High, a luxury residential complex in Shaikpet, Hyderabad, in addition to at least three other flats in Karimnagar. Sridhar is also alleged to own a villa in Tellapur near Hyderabad, three independent buildings in Hyderabad, Warangal, and Karimnagar, 19 prime residential plots in these cities, and 16 acres of agricultural land. Commercial space at Ameerpet, stakes in several hotels in Karimnagar, two four-wheelers, gold jewellery, and significant bank deposits were also found during the searches. The ACB confirmed Sridhar's arrest, and he has been sent to judicial remand. The market value of the properties is expected to be much higher than the registered value. Further investigations are ongoing. Links to Kaleshwaram project Sridhar has also been involved in the controversial Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, touted as the world's largest multi-stage lift irrigation initiative. The project has faced persistent allegations of irregularities and corruption. The former chief minister of Telangana and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao has also been summoned by the PC Ghose Commission, which is investigating alleged violations in the project's execution. These corruption allegations had featured prominently during the 2023 Assembly election campaigns. The BRS, however, has denied all wrongdoing, asserting that the project was implemented in the public interest. [With agency inputs]

Telangana CM Revanth vows to make facts public on KLIS after KCR's deposition

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday stated he would make public all facts on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme within two days. 'Now that KCR (former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao) has appeared before Justice PC Ghose Commission to present his views, I would soon hold a press conference to place the facts before the public,' Revanth told reporters during an informal interaction in Delhi. The chief minister also rejected reports of a discussion with the Congress high command regarding allocation of portfolios to the newly inducted ministers. 'Without the PCC chief, deputy chief minister and other senior leaders in Delhi, how can such discussions happen?' he asked. Revanth made it clear that if any minister claimed to be overburdened with work, his portfolios would be reallocated. He stated that the purpose of his Delhi visit was to explain Telangana's caste survey model to Karnataka's chief minister and deputy chief minister. 'AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi also attended the meeting,' Revanth pointed out. Asked about the recent Cabinet expansion, he stated that social justice has been followed, with 55% of posts allotted to SC, ST and BC communities. He pointed out that KCR, during his second term, did not induct his own son into the Cabinet for six months, whereas the present government had already appointed 15 ministers including the new appointees.
