Akshaya Tritiya 2025: Auspicious Purchases Beyond Gold for Prosperity and Good Fortune

Hans India26-04-2025

Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej, is one of the most revered festivals in Hindu culture. It marks a highly auspicious day to begin new ventures, offer prayers, and make significant purchases. The term 'Akshaya' means 'never diminishing,' symbolising that all good deeds or acquisitions made on this day are believed to yield endless rewards.
This year, Akshaya Tritiya falls on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. According to Drik Panchang, the most favourable time to perform rituals or make purchases—the Puja Muhurat—is from 5:41 AM to 12:18 PM.
While buying gold remains a popular tradition, there are many other items you can consider purchasing to invite abundance and well-being into your life.
1. Silver: A Pure Symbol of Wealth
Silver is considered highly sacred and is often associated with purity and prosperity. Purchasing silver on Akshaya Tritiya—whether in the form of coins, jewellery, idols, or utensils—is thought to attract wealth and positive energy to your home.
2. Real Estate: Property for Growth and Stability
Acquiring property, land, or even a new home on this day is considered highly auspicious. It is believed that blessings from Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Kuber accompany such investments, promoting long-term success and happiness.
3. Vehicles: A Move Towards Progress
Buying a new vehicle, whether a two-wheeler or a car, is considered a step forward in life. It symbolises advancement, safe travels, and personal growth, making it a meaningful purchase on this special occasion.
4. New Clothes: A Sign of Fresh Beginnings
Wearing or gifting new garments during Akshaya Tritiya is a way to invite renewal and positivity. Traditional wear like sarees or kurtas, or even simple daily outfits, are believed to bring joy and good luck.
5. Earthen Pots and Storage Vessels: Ensuring Abundance
Purchasing clay pots, grain jars, or other traditional containers is thought to ensure that your household remains full of nourishment and abundance. These items symbolize fertility, sustenance, and long-term prosperity.
6. Books and Educational Tools: Honouring Knowledge
Buying books or enrolling in an educational course is a way to honour Goddess Saraswati, the deity of wisdom. This gesture symbolises intellectual enrichment and lifelong learning, making it especially meaningful for students and professionals alike.
7. Kitchen Utensils: For Family Well-being
It is customary in many Indian households to buy new utensils on Akshaya Tritiya. Items made of copper, brass, or stainless steel are believed to bring nourishment, good health, and familial prosperity.
Akshaya Tritiya offers a powerful opportunity to align your actions with spiritual and material abundance. Whether you're buying silver, investing in a property, or simply picking up a new book, your mindful purchases on this day are believed to bring blessings that last a lifetime.

Why Wear Gold During Any Auspicious Festival?

Because in Indian culture, even the gods don't show up underdressed—and gold is the universal RSVP to prosperity! 1. Gold Attracts Positive Cosmic Energy Gold isn't just about looking good; it's deeply believed to be an excellent conductor of divine vibrations. According to Vedic traditions, adorning oneself with gold during pujas , fasts, or festivals is said to amplify the body's aura and align it with Sattvik (pure, harmonious) energies. Essentially, it transforms the wearer into a glowing Wi-Fi hotspot, ready to receive blessings. 2. A Symbol for Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth Major festivals like Diwali, Akshaya Tritiya, Dhanteras, and Karva Chauth wouldn't be complete without invoking the blessings of Maa Lakshmi—and it's well-known that she has a special fondness for gold. Wearing gold during these times is seen as a direct invitation for prosperity, signaling your readiness to welcome abundance in the form of wealth, good health, and overall good fortune. 3. Traditional Belief: Gold Wards Off Evil Across various parts of India, gold is widely regarded as an auspicious metal that provides protection to the wearer. It's believed to shield against negative energies, the "evil eye," and general bad luck. During religious festivals, people wear gold as a safeguard, especially when engaging in spiritual practices or visiting crowded public spaces. 4. An Expression of Gratitude and Celebration of Prosperity Wearing gold also serves as a beautiful expression of thankfulness for all that one has received. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Asigurările de sănătate NN vin cu premii garantate. Cultural Ritual and Social Significance In countless Indian households, festivals are often marked by the joyous occasion of purchasing new gold or proudly wearing cherished ancestral pieces. It's not just a tradition; it's a deeply meaningful family bonding moment. Plus, let's be honest—nothing quite complements a stunning silk saree or a traditional sherwani better than gold jewelry that shines brighter than a bustling Bollywood dance floor. 6. Energetic Healing and Body Alignment In ancient Ayurveda and various spiritual texts, gold is recognized for its purported healing properties. It's believed to help balance the heart chakra, boost immunity, and even regulate body warmth. During festivals, when rituals are intense, food is rich, and emotions run high, wearing gold is thought to help maintain internal harmony and balance within the body. Consecration of 'Raja Ram' to be held at Ram Temple in Ayodhya

The consecration of 'Raja Ram' — Lord Rama in his king form — will take place on the first floor of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Thursday (June 5, 2025), coinciding with the occasion of Ganga Dussehra. This is the second consecration ceremony at the temple. The first consecration ceremony was that of the Ram Lalla idol at the temple complex on January 22, 2024 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking to PTI, Mahant Raghuvar Sharan, the chief priest of Rasik Niwas Temple in Ayodhya, said, "This year, Ganga Dussehra will not only be sacred but also historic, as after a long struggle of 500 years, Lord Ram, known as 'Rajarama', will be ceremonially installed on the first floor of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The occasion will witness a unique blend of enthusiasm, devotion, and spirituality in Ayodhya." The consecration ceremony will be held between 11:25 a.m. and 11:40 a.m., Ram Temple trustee Anil Mishra said. According to Hindu scriptures, Ganga Dussehra marks the day the holy river Ganga descended to Earth from Lord Shiva's locks, moved by King Bhagirath's penance. The day is considered highly auspicious and symbolises virtue, penance, and the collective well-being of humanity. Ayodhya-based astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram said any auspicious deed performed on Ganga Dussehra yields manifold results. "Perhaps this is why the Ram Temple Trust chose this day for the consecration of Rajarama," he said. In addition to the main Ram Darbar, the consecration of eight other temples within the Ram Temple complex will also take place on Thursday (June 5, 2025). Mr. Mishra said the ceremonies will be conducted with full religious rituals and Vedic chants, and learned Brahmins from across the country will participate in the event. "The day of Ganga Dussehra will symbolise a new beginning. It will be the moment when the fruits of centuries of penance, struggle, and faith will manifest in tangible form," Mr. Mishra added. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also took to social media to announce the consecration ceremony. "Today, in the holy birthplace of Lord Shri Ram, Ayodhya Dham, we are getting the great fortune of becoming a witness to the program organised for the Pran-Pratishtha of the holy idols of gods in the eight temples including Shri Ram Darbar on the first floor of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple," he posted on X in Hindi. — Yogi Adityanath (@myogiadityanath) June 5, 2025 "This auspicious occasion is a new expression of 'Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat'. Victory to Siyavar Shri Ramachandra!" he added.

‘Truly Rare': Sargun Mehta On Ravi Dubey Putting Her Name First In Credits

Last Updated: Sargun Mehta shared how once she had written Ravi Dubey's name first and the latter was quite upset about it. Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta 's love story has been nothing short of enchanting for their followers. From their gorgeous images together to the duo always supporting each other, they have served some major couple goals. While they have often shared about what makes their bond unshakeable, in the latest, Sargun mentioned how Ravi has always insisted on putting her name first in any credit or reference. Sargun Mehta told ETimes how once she had written Ravi Dubey's name first, and the latter was quite upset about it. While she insisted that they are in this together, he had emphasised her name being written first always. She added, 'That's something truly rare-very few people put their wives first, but Ravie always has. No matter the scale of my work-whether I did two rupees or ten rupees worth-he always says, 'Sargun did it.' He gives me more credit than I deserve. Maybe that's why he always puts my name first." However, Ravi's views on the matter were a little different. He insisted that it was not about setting an example and purely professional. He said, 'Within Dreamiyata as an enterprise, the leader we all rally behind, including myself, is Sargun Mehta. Her name coming first isn't about setting a precedent or creating an image. You can ask anyone at our production house-Sargun is the king, queen, emperor, empress-everything. I'm the commander-in-chief and proud to be a good one, but she's the visionary." Sargun Mehta and Ravi Dubey met on the set of their daily soap, 12/24 Karol Bagh. Ravi planned a dramatic proposal during his appearance on Nach Baliye Season 5 in December 2012. Following their performance, he knelt down and proposed to Sargun on national television with a ring. On December 7, 2013, the pair married in a traditional Hindu ceremony. Beyond their personal lives, Sargun Mehta and Ravi Dubey have set examples as producers. The duo has launched a few shows under their banner, Dreamiyata Dramaa. First Published:
