Salvatore Ferragamo reports H1 sales drop 9.4% after wholesale decline
The group recorded a net loss of €57 million ($65.6 million) for the period.
'The result was affected in particular by the deterioration in the consumer environment, the difficult wholesale context and persistent weakness in the Asia-Pacific region,' the company said in a statement.
Revenue from wholesale declined 17.9% to €105 million ($120.8 million), compared to the first half of 2024. Direct-to-consumer sales also fell, down 6.5%.
In the Asia-Pacific region—Ferragamo's largest market—sales dropped 18.5% to €128.4 million ($147.7 million), reflecting continued softness in consumer demand.
In the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, revenue declined 7.8%, as gains from direct sales were offset by weaker wholesale performance.
Meanwhile, sales in Central and South America rose 11.6%, marking the brand's only regional growth during the first half.
'We have completed a thorough review of our brand positioning,' the company said. 'This has helped us identify key commercial priorities and define a targeted action plan.'
Ferragamo added it has 'already begun implementing concrete changes' and expressed confidence that these efforts 'will deliver increasing impact by the end of 2025, and more significantly in 2026.'

"The company (...) has only wasted precious time, making a mockery of the workers who dedicate themselves daily in stores and have been waiting, and continue to wait, for the welfare payment," their statement said. Florence-based Gucci is Kering's star brand, but it has struggled with falling sales in recent years, dragging down the entire French luxury conglomerate which is now pinning its turnaround hopes on new CEO Luca de Meo.

AI image misrepresented as rally outside South Korean tech giant Samsung's headquarters
The image appearing to show scores of striking workers holding up placards demanding Samsung chairman Lee Jae-yong "join collective bargaining" was shared on Facebook on August 3, 2025. "Situation in front of Samsung HQ due to the yellow envelope bill," reads the image's Korean-language caption, referring to proposed amendments to South Korea's Trade Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act that the ruling Democratic Party has . According to The Korea Times, the bill would broaden protections for workers and strengthen their right to take collective action, including an expanded definition of legitimate labour disputes (archived link). Business groups have criticised the bill, with a report in The Chosun Daily saying industry leaders had warned the proposed changes could escalate strikes, delay production, and force shutdowns (archived link). Record heatwave blasts northern Vietnam
Temperatures peaked on Sunday and Monday across the densely populated Red River Delta region, a hugely important industrial and agricultural area, with the capital Hanoi experiencing its first-ever August day above 40C. While Vietnam experiences hot weather every year, scientists say human-driven climate change is causing more intense weather patterns, including higher temperatures. The normally bustling streets of Hanoi were quieter on Tuesday as locals hid from the burning heat. Flower seller Ngo Thu Thuy told AFP of her exhaustion from riding her flower bike in the heat. "I earn less as no one bothers to buy flowers in this heat. I still have to try my best to earn my living" said Thuy, 38, covered from head to toe to protect herself from the sun. A construction worker who identified himself as Nam said "too many buildings and vehicles" has turned Hanoi into "a pan on fire" over the past two days. Records set in past heatwaves in 2021 and 2024 were broken at 17 weather stations around the north, though rain forecast for Tuesday evening is expected to bring cooler temperatures. One weather station in downtown Hanoi recorded a high of 40.3C, beating the city's previous August record of 39.8C set in 2021.
