Heat eases in Cairo as southern Egypt swelters under 42°C highs - Society

Temperatures have started to fall in northern Egypt following a week of intense heat, offering some relief to residents in Greater Cairo and parts of Upper Egypt, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA). In the capital and surrounding areas, daytime highs are expected to hover around 34 degrees Celsius, while coastal cities along the Mediterranean will see milder conditions closer to 30 degrees. But the heat remains unrelenting in southern Egypt, where temperatures are forecast to reach up to 42 degrees — continuing a scorching spell that has gripped the region for weeks. Northern Upper Egypt will also stay hot, with highs of 38 degrees. Nights are expected to be relatively warm but more tolerable, helped in part by active winds sweeping across much of the country. However, gusts may stir up sand and dust in parts of the Western Desert. Early morning fog is likely to form on roads in and out of Cairo, the Canal Cities, and parts of Sinai, potentially reducing visibility for drivers. There's also a chance of light rain in the far south, with brief showers forecast in Halayeb and Shalateen on Sunday and Monday. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:

Japan Records Hottest July in 127 Years

Israa Farhan Japan has experienced its hottest July since records began in 1898, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, as intense heat waves continue to sweep the country amid global climate change concerns. The agency reported that the nationwide average temperature for July 2025 was 2.89°C above normal, breaking the previous record set just a year earlier in July 2024. This marks the third consecutive year that Japan has recorded its hottest July in history. On Wednesday, a record high of 41.2°C was recorded in the western Hyogo region. This follows another historic high in June, which saw the hottest temperatures ever recorded for that month in Japan. Meteorologists warn that extreme heat is expected to persist throughout August. The agency also noted significant climate shifts, including the rainy season ending three weeks earlier than usual in western parts of the country. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
