‘It is a damaging reinforcement of gender-based disrespect' — Moja Love condemns MacG's derogatory language
Moja Love released a statement on social media condemning the behaviour of MacG for using offensive language towards women.
"MacG's persistent use of derogatory language towards women, reducing them to vulgar slurs and objectifying their bodies, is not only offensive, it is a damaging reinforcement of gender-based disrespect. Such behaviour has no place in society and media specifically, where voices should uplift, not degrade. Moja Love (DStv 157) as a platform is committed to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment. We refuse to stay silent.
"Misogyny on air doesn't only harm the individuals targeted, it perpetuates a toxic culture that normalises the dehumanisation of women. Yesterday we took a firm stance against this conduct, and we will continue to challenge such rhetoric whenever it arises. Media is designed to shape societal norms, and with that influence comes responsibility. To MacG and others who use their platforms carelessly: accountability is not optional. We urge audiences and broadcasters alike to reject sexist vitriol and demand better. Respect isn't a privilege, it's a right."
The channel has also received flack for airing a recent episode of the reality show Isencane Lengane.
The show, in its seventh season, which follows the lives of Siyacela Dlamuka and Thando Msomi, who married when they were teenagers, sparked outrage among viewers, with many raising concerns about the couple's toxicity.
According to Moja Love, Isencane Lengane is designed to contribute to the discourse on gender-based violence and societal ills, with the aim of raising awareness and promoting positive change.
Moja Love said they are committed to providing psychological support to affected members, including Thando, who was affected by events depicted in the show, and would continue to offer support.

Over the weekend, DStv's digital distribution partner, Leading Edge Growth, confirmed that DStv has removed MacG's Podcast and Chill from all its TV channels. 'Season one of Podcast and Chill and season one of Awkward Dates are nearing their final episodes in the coming weeks, making way for fresh and exciting content to take their place in these time slots,' said Leading Edge Growth CEO Lufuno Maliavusa. A few weeks ago, speaking on Podcast and Chill, MacG said there was a WhatsApp group of celebrities and other industry players, including Cassper Nyovest, which is planning his downfall. 'I remember there's a guy in this group who I met at the garage, and I was like 'yo, what up man' he said 'yo man, [I] love your sh*t…' but he's in this group saying sh*t about me,' expressed MacG. However, speaking to The Citizen on Monday, MacG said his split from DStv has no connection to the alleged plot, adding that he and DStv have a partnership. 'They believe in the vision and the idea that we can exist side by side and create something meaningful together. It's a real partnership,' said MacG. The exit from DStv is limited only to Podcast and Chill, not to other podcasts under the Podcast and Chill Network brand. Shows like People Need Comedy (PNC) and Piano Pulse are still on TV. 'With Spreading Humours, PNC, and Piano Pulse, we're still active in that space. Podcast and Chill Network isn't going anywhere when it comes to traditional media. DStv cuts ties with MacG's Podcast and Chill
'To keep our content slate dynamic and engaging, we will continue to make adjustments to our roster.' Following a controversial statement about one of South Africa's loved celebrities by Podcast and Chill host Macgyver Mukwevho, popularly known as MacG, Dstv has decided to stop airing the show on its platform. MacG has been in the hot seat after making a comment about media personality Minnie Dlamini's private part in one of the episodes. However, Dstv did not air the episode in question; it was only aired on the Podcast and Chill channel on YouTube. Dstv's digital distribution partner, Leading Edge Growth, confirmed to Timeslive that Dstv has removed the popular podcast. End of an era for MacG Leading Edge Growth CEO Lufuno Maliavusa gave the confirmation that the show has been pulled. This follows after MultiChoice refused to confirm the news of the show's cancellation. The Group only said it 'licensed a slate of podcasts' from Leading Edge Growth, which was 'responsible for curating the podcast slate, taking into account audience dynamics and content demand.' However, MacG is reportedly 'unmoved' by the news, as he is 'pursuing other endeavours'. She said MacG's comments were nauseating in their vulgarity and must be regarded as an unconstitutional violation of Dlamini's rights to freedom and security of the person, equality, and human dignity as enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. Letsike wanted MacG to be referred to the Parliament's Portfolio Committee, however, this was declined. Parliament declines to summon MacG 'I think the majority of members are not in favour of us proceeding as the honorable minister, deputy minister had requested us to do,' the committee's chairperson Liezl van der Merwe said. She pointed out that Dlamini had not approached Parliament nor laid a criminal case. 'I think all of you have touched on this point that if we do decide it is our mandate to proceed with hearing one case of cyber-bullying, it would mean that this portfolio committee would have to extend that to every other person because they cannot be selective in choosing one case.' 'I want to apologise, first and foremost, to all the female chillers, and women in general in SA, I might have offended with that comment. That was not the intention. 'This thing started on the podcast—let's end it on the podcast. She said some things, I said some things. Let's squash it once and for all.' Dlamini to pursue legal recourse Dlamini said she was hurt and shocked by the comments made about her body and personal life on the podcast. 'Over the past few weeks, I have watched in disbelief and deep pain as my name, body, and dignity were dragged through the mud of public discourse,' she said. Image: X Media personality Minnie Dlamini and podcaster MacGyver 'MacG' Mukwevho have been embroiled in a two-week drama following crude remarks made by Mukwevho about Dlamini. Since then, netizens made online allegations, accusing Dlamini of also making remarks about the 'Podcast and Chill' host by referring to him as a rapist and making degrading remarks about her ex-boyfriend, Itumeleng Khune. Dlamini addressed the allegations on X (formerly Twitter), clarifying the situation. 'I did not call anyone a rapist nor did I speak about Khune's private parts. Stop spreading lies to justify nonsense,' she wrote. This comes after the presenter was attacked on social media for revealing that she will be taking the legal route to deal with the derogatory comment made by MacG. The controversy began when MacG commented that the reason for Dlamini's split with ex-boyfriend Dr Brian Monaisa might be due to Dlamini's hygiene. Additionally, he said that there has got to be something wrong with Dlamini because she 'can't keep a man' and added that 'maybe her coochie smells'. The 34-year-old TV producer and actress has since broken her silence on the matter, revealing in a lengthy statement that she will be taking legal action against the 'Podcast and Chill' host despite him apologising through his attorneys. In her statement, Dlamini explained how she had watched in disbelief and pain as her name, body, and dignity had been dragged through the mud of public discourse, triggered by the vile, humiliating, and inexcusable comments made by MacG. She further said that it was a little too late for the apology as the damage had already been done. 'I have received an apology from 'Podcast and Chill' via their attorneys. An apology, offered only after the damage is done and reputations are on the line, is not a meaningful act of accountability, especially when it comes from a platform that has made misogyny part of its brand.' MacG has also extended an olive branch on the latest episode of his podcast show, inviting Dlamini herself, saying she is more than welcome to be a guest on the show so they can 'squash it' once and for all. 'This thing started on the podcast, let's end it on the podcast. She said some things, I've said some things, let's squash it once and for all, bro,' MacG said. Fans have since flooded the comment section with some rallying behind Dlamini, offering messages of support and some claiming that they can prove that she made the degrading comments against MacG and Khune. @mellanniin commented: 'We got your back sis, thank you for standing up for yourself and for women who failed to do that for themselves 💞.' While @Yogetta_ZA said: 'U did, we have evidence Minnie.'
