JD Vance's secret trip to Rupert Murdoch's Montana ranch before WSJ broke bombshell Epstein story
Vance spoke with the 94-year-old media mogul, his son Lachlan Murdoch and a group of other Fox News executives at the $280 million estate on June 11, sources told the Associated Press.
It's not clear why the vice president addressed the group or what they spoke about, but the meeting appeared to be brief.
According to flight restrictions issued by the Federal Aviation Administration, the vice presidential aircraft, Air Force Two, was only on the ground for a matter of hours.
Air Force Two landed in Butte – which is approximately 70 miles from the Murdoch ranch – around 2.30pm, according to NBC Montana.
Murdoch bought the 340,000-acre Beaverhead cattle ranch in Montana from the billionaire Koch family, which had owned the property for 70 years, in 2021.
The ranch, located near Yellowstone National Park, is one of the largest in the state, and has a nearly 28-mile long private trout fishing river and is populated by elk, antelope and mule deer.
After the Murdoch meeting, the vice president and his wife, Usha, then took a hike, Montana State Auditor James Brown, who helped plan the trip, told Montana Talks.
Air Force Two then departed shortly after nightfall, an airport source told Politico's West Wing Playbook.
One month after the mysterious meeting, Murdoch's newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, reported that Trump sent Epstein the card in 2003 as part of a collection collated by Ghislaine Maxwell.
Trump has furiously denied the allegations and hit the newspaper and its owner with a $10 billion lawsuit.
The filing, obtained by DailyMail.com, shows the libel suit filed in the Southern District of Florida against WSJ, Dow Jones, Rupert Murdoch and the paper's reporters who published the story in what Trump called a 'powerhouse' suit on Truth Social.
Trump is requesting a jury trial and is suing 'for damages, punitive damages, court costs, and such other relief as the Court deems just and proper, not to be less than $10 billion dollars.'
A bombshell report in the Wall Street Journal on Thursday claimed Trump wrote a 'bawdy' 50th birthday card to Epstein, which concluded: 'Happy Birthday - and may every day be another wonderful secret.'
The newspaper said it had reviewed a typewritten letter bearing Trump's signature, framed by the seemingly hand-drawn outline of a naked woman, that Ghislaine Maxwell included in a 2003 birthday album.
In the text, the paper claimed Trump wrote: 'We have certain things in common, Jeffrey' and that both of them know that 'there must be more to life than having everything.'
The message is said to have included an X-rated drawing of a naked woman, with Trump's famous signature squiggle written across her genitals to mimic pubic hair.
According to the Journal, the naked woman appeared to have been hand-drawn with a marker, with a pair of arcs indicating the woman's breasts and a squiggly signature reading 'Donald' appearing in her pubic region, mimicking hair.
'I never wrote a picture in my life. I don't draw pictures of women,' Trump told the WSJ. 'It's not my language. It's not my words.'

Dog the Bounty Hunter's stepson bragged about using rifles with son four years before accidentally shooting him to death
Dog the Bounty Hunter star Duane Chapman 's stepson Gregory Zecca is a passionate gun enthusiast, which he passed down to his teenage son Anthony Zecca before his tragic shooting death. Little Anthony was only nine years old when the 38-year-old bounty hunter taught him how to use a rifle at Franktown Firearms Shooting Center in Franktown, CO back in 2021. 'Getting some range time in with our buddies @franktownfirearms,' Gregory boasted in his since-disabled Instagram account. Zecca accidentally shot and killed his 13-year-old son in their apartment in Naples, FL on Saturday, according to TMZ. Local law enforcement confirmed to the outlet that they 'responded to a call about the shooting around 8 p.m. ET' but they're calling it an 'isolated incident' and no arrests have been made. Duane's sixth wife Francie Chapman welcomed Gregory during a prior marriage, and Anthony's mother is Alexandria Lane. The 72-year-old reality star and the 56-year-old Bounty Wear owner addressed the terrible loss in a statement: 'We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.' One year ago, little Anthony spent the summer with his grandparents and told a story about how he felt the wind of the Holy Spirit while visiting his 'Meemaw' in the hospital ER in 2023 after she injured her ankle. Anthony and Duane sat on a bench in the waiting room when he suddenly felt a gush of cold wind blowing in from outside even though it was a warm, rainy day. 'When we're walking to her room I feel the wind again but from a different direction. When it first came, it hit me [on my chest]. But when it came again, it hit me from the back,' the Christian child marveled. 'And I'm wondering what is this? Because the doors didn't open this time, so why am I getting hit by wind? [It was] the Holy Spirit. And I asked Meemaw and she said, "It was the Holy Spirit."' Francie had been feeling miserable but 'after X-rays and after we prayed, we go back into the room and she's just fine. She said, "This don't even hurt anymore." And it turned out to not be broken.' Aside from artillery and Jesus, little Anthony also enjoyed dancing to Usher and Diana Ross, he loved Busch Gardens theme park, and once excitedly met Predator at Duke City Comic Con. The Chapmans - who began dating in 2020 - first bonded over their shared grief about being widowed. Duane suffered the loss of his fifth wife Beth Smith in 2019 to stage II throat cancer and Francie suffered the loss of her husband Bob Frane in 2018. One year ago, little Anthony spent the summer with his grandparents and told a story about how he felt the wind of the Holy Spirit while visiting his 'Meemaw' in the hospital ER in 2023 after she injured her ankle (pictured in 2024) 'We understood the pain that the other one was feeling, and [in] those tough days and moments, we helped each other stand up,' she told ET in 2020. 'We could cry with each other and talk about what we were feeling. We were able to walk alongside each other through the pain and heartbreak, and it brought us together in this amazing way.' The mourning couple will celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary on September 2. On November 15, the Chapmans will host their 3rd Annual F.U.S.E. Restored Gala in Cape Coral, FL.

Minneapolis Democrats endorse Somali-American socialist Omar Fateh for mayor just weeks after NYC branch chose '100% communist'
A Somali-American democratic socialist has clinched the Minneapolis mayoral endorsement just weeks after a '100% communist' was elected in New York City. Omar Fateh, a 35-year-old Minnesota state senator, won the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party's endorsement for Minneapolis mayor on Saturday - an upset victory over two-term incumbent Jacob Frey that few saw coming, as reported by Axios. The win comes less than a month after 33-year-old Zohran Mamdani defeated New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary - a victory that prompted Donald Trump to brand him a '100 percent Communist lunatic.' 'I am incredibly honored to be the DFL endorsed candidate for Minneapolis Mayor,' Fateh wrote to X following the endorsement. 'This endorsement is a message that Minneapolis residents are done with broken promises, vetoes, and politics as usual. It's a mandate to build a city that works for all of us.' More than 1,000 party activists packed the Target Center on Saturday afternoon, where around 5pm, delegates cast their first mayoral endorsement votes via smartphone - launching a nearly two-hour vote tallying process by party officials. The suspense was palpable as attendees wondered if Frey - who led the city through the turbulent 2020 Black Lives Matter protests - would succeed in blocking the first Somali-American Muslim to serve in the state's senate. Mamdani's endorsement energized left-wing challengers, who celebrated the possibility of unseating Frey at the upcoming DFL convention - while others looked on with doubt and concern over the 'progressive uprising' in America's biggest cities. The potential shift in the nation's political landscape was on full display at this weekend's convention. Frey's supporters began abandoning the arena at about 9pm in protest, just as the results came in - Fateh had secured the endorsement. Not only did Fateh claim a seat at the mayoral table, but he also made history -becoming the Minneapolis DFL's first endorsement in a contested mayor's race since at least 1997, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune. Fateh captured 43.8 percent of the roughly 577 delegate votes, while Frey trailed with 31.5 percent, as reported by Axios. The socialist candidate ultimately secured over 60 percent of delegate votes at the convention, despite vocal complaints from the Frey campaign over the fairness of the process. Chaos erupted as Frey's campaign officials challenged the results, claiming the party's online delegate voting system had allegedly malfunctioned - pointing to a suspiciously low number of recorded votes. 'This election should be decided by the entire city rather than the small group of people who became delegates, particularly in light of the extremely flawed and irregular conduct of this convention,' Frey campaign manager Sam Schulenberg said in a statement, according to the outlet. 'Voters will now have a clear choice between the records and leadership of Sen. Fateh and Mayor Frey. We look forward to taking our vision to the voters in November, he added. Fateh has drawn increased attention following Mamdani's stunning - and surprising - victory over Cuomo in Manhattan's Democratic mayoral primary. Some have even dubbed him the 'Mamdani of Minneapolis,' according to the Star Tribune. The parallels are hard to miss: both Fateh and Mamdani are in their 30s, Muslim, democratic socialists and state lawmakers focused on making their cities more affordable and equitable. However, their rise in the political spotlight hasn't come without backlash - from both online critics and prominent, well-known faces. Former New York Giants player Carter Coughlin launched a savage attack on Fateh following his endorsement on Sunday, claiming that his policies of rent control and raising minimum wage would set Minneapolis back years. He also debated Fateh's credibility to become mayor with some of his followers. 'In a city that has endured unimaginable destruction and racial tension, these policies would set Minneapolis back another 10 steps,' Coughlin wrote. 'MPLS (Minneapolis) needs rebuilding, and this will do the opposite. Pray for wisdom.' Nevertheless, Fateh took to the arena floor just after 10pm to claim victory, declaring, 'Today, we witnessed a rejection of politics as usual,' as reported by Axios. We know the status quo are going to do anything and everything to maintain power, he added. 'They'll have all the money in the world - but they don't have you.' Though the final decision won't come until November, one thing is clear: Minneapolis is signaling a readiness for change - and big cities could be sparking the start of a broader movement.

Trump calls out high-profile senator who's in 'BIG TROUBLE' for plotting an 'American tragedy' - and demands he be locked up
Donald Trump has demanded a high profile Democrat be sent to prison in the latest escalation in their long-running feud. California Senator Adam Schiff is at the center of a Justice Department investigation for a 'sustained pattern of possible mortgage fraud' involving misrepresenting which home he used as his primary residence, Trump said. 'Adam 'Shifty' Schiff is in BIG TROUBLE,' Trump said in a Truth Social post on Sunday night. 'He falsified loan documents.' Trump also went on to slam Schiff for orchestrating an 'American Tragedy' by investigating his son Donald Trump Jr.'s phone records in 2019 amid concerns about the origin of a meeting with Russians held in Trump Tower three years prior. 'He once said my son would go to prison on a SCAM that Schiff, along with other Crooked Dems, illegally 'manufactured' in order to stage an actual coup,' Trump wrote. 'My son did nothing wrong, knew nothing about the fictional story. It was an American Tragedy! 'Now Shifty should pay the price of prison for a real crime, not one made up by the corrupt accusers!' Schiff had threatened to subpoena Don Jr. to glean new details about two phone calls he made to blocked numbers after meeting with a Russian lawyer. At the time, Trump was under investigation for potentially colluding with the Kremlin. He also led the charge to impeach Trump in his role as chair of the House Intelligence Committee. Trump's latest round of attacks on Schiff are yet another example of the president seeking out anyone who has crossed him over the years. This includes New York Attorney General Letitia James who has found herself at the center of a DOJ investigation into her real estate transactions after bringing multiple cases against Trump. James has launched lawsuits against the president during both terms, including for alleged fraud. Since January 20 she has filed at least 15 actions. The Post reports that subpoenas were issued in Virginia concerning a mortgage application in which she affirmed that she intended to make a Norfolk home her primary residence. The outlet said it obtained records which showed the AG's signature granting a power of attorney to her niece to execute the purchase. 'This investigation into me is nothing more than retribution. It's baseless,' James said of the probe. Barbara McQuade, a former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan told the publication it was 'awfully coincidental' that Trump's critics have been subjected to home loan investigations. 'You don't get a free pass because you're a public official,' McQuade said. 'But I think they've really undermined the credibility of the department by staking out this ground seeking retribution against Trump's enemies.' Trump said he wanted to see Schiff 'brought to justice' through the investigation into his finances. But Schiff maintained his innocence and argued he was being persecuted by the Trump administration as political retribution for his involvement in opposing the family over the years. 'This is just Donald Trump's latest attempt at political retaliation against his perceived enemies,' Schiff wrote on X. 'So it is not a surprise, only how weak this false allegation turns out to be.' A spokesperson for his office insisted the lenders for both of his homes - one in Washington and another in California - were aware that he intended to use both year-round while serving in public office. He maintained neither home is considered a 'vacation' property. Appointing one home as a primary residence can allow a borrower to secure lower rates, because it is considered a less risky investment. Schiff took aim at the president during an appearance on Stephen Colbert's show telling him to 'p**s off '. 'But before you p**s off, would you release the Epstein files?' Schiff asked, to rapturous applause. It is unclear how Trump became aware of Schiff's mortgages, or what involvement he has played in the investigation so far. According to The Washington Post, a confidential memo within Fannie Mae, the lender responsible for the questionable loans, said an investigation has been ongoing amid concerns Schiff 'engaged in a sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation on 5 Fannie Mae loans'. The internal memo states the company's financial crimes team received a document demand from the Federal Housing Finance Agency on May 12 relating to loan files. It states that a condo in Burbank, California, has at times been listed as a 'primary residence' before adding, 'however the 691 square foot, 1-bedroom unit appears unsuitable for a family of four, raising doubts about their true occupancy intent.' Each of the loans involved have since been paid off in full.
