The Chase's Paul Sinha had two heart attacks at Edinburgh Fringe and refused to cancel his act

Daily Record6 hours ago

The Chase star, who is also a comedian, revealed how he had been due to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival when he had a heart attack and refused to phone an ambulance as he didn't want to 'lose out on a lot of money'.
Paul Sinha has recounted the moment he suffered two heart attacks at the Edinburgh Fringe festival but kept quiet as he 'didn't want to cause a scene'. The Chase star, 55, who is also a comedian, opened up about the sudden health scare he faced during a 2023 run at the iconic festival in the Capital.
Speaking on Tuesday morning's episode of Good Morning Britain, he said: "It was a bit of a wild show. It was very much about my life as a gay, disabled son of immigrants, but it was quite a political show, and it was a big show. I was in a room with 400 people in and it all got on top of me and I had two heart attacks in the same Edinburgh Fringe. Two! Week number one and week number three."

He explained the first heart attack was while he was 'shaking the hand of Levi Roots', and the quiz guru decided to excuse himself rather than get someone to ring for an ambulance. Paul said: "I didn't want to cause a scene. I didn't want to call an ambulance.

"I thought I might as well just get into a cab to take me to the nearest hospital as quick as possible, which is what I did."
Paul was discharged without a proper diagnosis but even suffering a second one, the Chaser, who described the first heart attack as 'not like anything I've ever felt before', was still determined to continue his Fringe run.
He recalled: "The first time they didn't diagnose it properly, so they sent me home and the second time they said, 'These have been two small heart attacks.
"And I said, 'Can I carry on?' And they said, 'We're not going to tell you what to do'.

"So I carried on. But looking back on it, that's not the right thing to do.
"I know why I did it, because of the Edinburgh Festival, and I didn't want to lose a huge amount of money."
Paul is best known for being a Chaser, nicknamed The Sinnerman, on the ITV show.

However, he is also a former GP who has spent three decades practicing his craft as a comedian, the Metro reports.
The 55-year-old was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019 and he admitted on GMB that he makes his 'comedy goldmine' condition, which is a neurodegenerative disease which affects both motor and non-motor systems, part of his stand-up shows.
Paul quipped: "I do lots of jokes about it. It's as simple as that.
"You deal with the cards you've been dealt, and if you've been given a comedy goldmine, as Parkinson's is, then you deal with it.
"I mean, as far as I'm aware, no other comedians at the Edinburgh Fringe will be talking about their own struggles with neurological degeneration so might as well be me."

Dejon dares Remell to kiss an Islander of his choice and he picks Poppy. Then later in the evening, the pair share a cosy moment where he admits he hasn't felt like this before on the show. In a clip shared on social media ahead of the scene airing, Remell says: "I'm being comfy around you still. It's the first time in, you know, the villa, that I have felt like this so it's telling me something." Smiling, Poppy responds: "Good. I like that." Remell then turns his attention to reflecting on how things are going with him in his current coupling. "Alima, it's been good in terms of where we are now, but getting there it's been a bit shaky,he says. "And it's like, maybe I'm even waiting on the fact that, I need to see if from her side, is it like a me thing why you're a slow burner, or is it you?" And he concludes: "Cause if it's a me thing then I'm done I'm not gonna lie." The pair then kiss again, leaving his relationship with Alima hanging by a thread. Of course, Remell and Alima's relationship isn't the only one in trouble tonight. Dejon also shares a kiss with Caprice in the steamy game of Truth or Dare. And back in the main villa, Conor and Megan are growing even closer. After sharing a kiss on the terrace, Megan tells Meg what happens and betrays where her feelings are at. 6 Alima is unaware of what is happening with her man and the new bombshell Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 6 Megan and Conor are also growing closer after their kiss Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 'I don't regret it though, I don't think I've done anything wrong. "I didn't have to come and tell you this but I do like you, so I am telling you.' Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

EastEnders' Bernie blackmailed in exit story and The Six are not to blame

An unlikely suspect blackmails EastEnders' Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) next week as things get seriously messy ahead of her forthcoming exit. It is soon to be revealed that Bernie has been stealing money from the Panesars' business accounts, having been left in charge of them in Nish Panesar's (Navin Chowdhry) will. This week's episodes have seen the Panesars' new employee Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) grow suspicious about irregularities on some invoices, with Bernie trying to shut down her investigations. But in scenes to air next week, Vicki gets the evidence that proves Bernie is up to no good and sets about blackmailing her. The week's episodes begin with Vicki and her partner Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) being told Sharon Watts (Letita Dean) is evicting them because they failed to repay the loan she gave them. When Vicki then goes to Bernie for an advance on her wages to help raise the cash, she ends up getting fired. After stealing Bernie's laptop in retaliation, Vicki's suspicions about Bernie's book fiddling are confirmed and she tells Bernie she wants half of her stolen profits in return for her silence. Backed into a corner, Bernie is seemingly ready to cough up. However, Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) is horrified when she learns the truth about how Vicki is suddenly so flush with cash, worried about the threat it poses to The Six's secret. As fans will no doubt remember that back in September, Bernie found out that Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) killed her brother Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) in the Queen Vic on Christmas Day 2023, with Kathy, Sharon, Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) all helping her to cover it up. Coronation Street exit confirmed after collapse horror - but it's not Lauren

Coronation Street will soon air a big exit on the ITV soap while details remain under wraps, following a spiking at a party leaving one character rushed to hospital There's an exit looming on Coronation Street, amid Lauren Bolton being rushed to hospital in a bad way. The character was accidentally spiked with LSD at a party, leaving her hallucinating and suffering an accident. Lauren had imagined seeing her abuser Joel Deering, the father of her son Frankie. ‌ Despite killing Joel last year, Lauren hallucinated that the villain was back and was out to get her. Events led to her running into the factory, and as she went to leave she fell down some steps. ‌ On Wednesday the character wasn't feeling well, and she was soon rushed to hospital when she collapsed. With Aadi Alahan fearing the worst after Lauren accidentally drank his drink that had the LSD in, Carla Connor stayed with Lauren at the hospital. It was soon revealed that Lauren had broken ribs and a ruptured spleen after her fall, and Carla began to question what had happened to her that night. As Lauren explained that she had not even drunk that much alcohol, Carla began to wonder if she'd been spiked and took her suspicions to partner Lisa Swain. Detective Lisa agreed that a drug test could be conducted with Lauren's permission, with Lauren also keen to get to the bottom of it all. Soon enough with Lauren "in a bad way" in hospital, Carla was asking the other party goers about the events and whether there were drugs. She got no answers, with Lisa then asking colleague Kit Green to have a word with Aadi and the others to find out what went down. With an exit for one character confirmed, is it going to be bad news for one of the party goers? ‌ It could well be the case as Aadi is leaving the show amid him covering up the drugs drama. It was reported earlier this year that actor Adam Hussain was leaving the role after five years. The actor then spoke out to confirm the news, ready to move on to new adventures. But could this be paving the way for his exit, and might he be sent to prison for what happened to Lauren? ‌ There's also trouble for two other characters, as we edged closer to finding out what Summer Spellman and Nina Lucas were covering up. The pair took LSD at the party, before it was revealed that something bad had been witnessed by them. On Wednesday night, the girls continued to try to figure out what happened the night before, retracing their steps. But as Nina vowed to go to the police, concerned over what had gone on, Summer told her they could not speak to anyone. While the show did not give away what had happened and what they saw or did, it was confirmed that they had "left someone to die". Who the mystery person is remains to be seen.
