All Points East announce ‘one hell of a replacement' after Doechii pulls out

Metro4 hours ago
Music festival All Points East has announced the replacement for Doechii, who pulled out of the festival just days before it was set to kick off this weekend.
Fans have been left devastated after the Victoria Park, London, festival announced that she would not be performing on Saturday, August 23.
'We're very sorry to announce that Doechii, 27, will no longer be performing at her upcoming shows,' a statement on Instagram read.
'She is an incredible artist, and, like all of her fans, we were hugely excited to see her on stage. All Points East has an amazing line-up including RAYE, Tyla, JADE, Jyoty, Nao and many more, and it's set to be a truly unforgettable day.'
The Grammy winner has also pulled out of Paris' Rock En Seine on Thursday and Bristol's Forwards on Sunday.
Now, the festival has confirmed that FKA twigs will headline the West Stage on Saturday, August 23, in the slot Doechii was previously scheduled to fill.
A statement from the festival reads: 'One of the most brilliant and visionary artists of her generation, twigs' addition makes this already incredible female-led line-up even more special.
'twigs joins a masterful billing that includes a London-exclusive performance from Tyla, plus JADE, Jyoty, Nao, Montell Fish, Cat Burns and many more. This follows the announcement that Doechii will no longer be able to perform at the festival.'
Festival goers have taken to the comments of All Points East Instagram announcing the news to share their enthusiasm.
rikos666 wrote: 'Still gutted about Doechii. But FKA twigs is one hell of a replacement, so fair play. Have seen her twice this year and been blown away.'
User jake_sytc agreed: 'Whoever is responsible for this deserves a good bonus x'
fancy_panther chimed in: 'You really came through with this!' while outrojason shared their excitement with: 'OMG YES WE MISS YOU DOECHII BUT WE STILL WON!' More Trending
Thousands are expected to attend the festival this coming weekend, with crowds packing the park for performances by acts like Chase & Status and Cleo Sol this past weekend.
The event, which launched in 2018, has quickly become one of the most anticipated music events in London, and many fans reacted with dismay when Doechii's cancellation was announced this week.
The Instagram post announcing the news was flooded with comments like boluberry3m's admission: 'I just fell to my knees in M&S,' as abi_afro added: 'I was willing to fight the dust for Doechii 💔'
'The whole reason I'm coming!! 😭 who's replacing her ??,' asked jessdudfield.

Ciara reinforces her passion for music with 'CiCi.' The album is her first since 2019

Ciara will deliver a new bundle of joy on Friday, but it's not the fifth child her husband publicly flirts with her about. 'It's time. Honestly, I've been working on this album for almost five years,' said the R&B-pop superstar. 'I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, as they would say, into this project … I literally gave birth to two babies while I was making this project, too. So, a lot has happened.' Expanding her 2023 seven-track EP 'CiCi,' it's the Grammy winner's first album since 2019's 'Beauty Marks,' her first as an independent artist. 'I was still actively putting out music on the project. So, it's not like I was five years chillin',' said the 'Level Up' artist. 'If I ever stop loving the process and experience, then I'll stop. But I have so much passion for it and I just feel so fortunate that 21 years later, from my first album 'Goodies' to now, that I still have the same excitement I had as a little girl.' Her eighth studio album, 'CiCi' includes songs from the EP such as 'How We Roll,' her 2023 Chris Brown collaboration which reached No. 1 on Billboard's R&B digital song sales charts, 'Forever' with Lil Baby and the sensual bop, 'Low Key.' But the 14-track full-length record, with writing and production from Theron Thomas and J.R. Rotem, separates itself with appearances from Tyga, BossMan DLow and Busta Rhymes. Latto also joins her on 'This Right Here,' an anticipated reunion with Jazze Pha who executive produced her 2004 debut, hitting No. 3 on the Billboard 200. One of the preeminent stage performers in her class and lauded for her dancing, Ciara owns smashes like 'Goodies' which topped the Billboard 100, 'Oh' featuring Ludacris, 'Body Party,' and 'Promise.' Four albums reached the Billboard 200 top 10, including 2006's 'Ciara: The Evolution' which hit No. 1. Family first, but still in love with music In an era where music is often released rapidly, Ciara's leisurely pace has been questioned by fans and critics, wondering if she's traded her love for music for a perceived socialite lifestyle with her Super Bowl-winning husband, Russell Wilson. 'I feel like I don't have to explain anything to anybody,' said the 'Ride' singer, who's recently released collaborations with several Asian artists. 'Not every year has been about music. And sometimes, it's been about me just growing as a human. Sometimes, it's been about me finding my way obviously as a mom, and then I have family now and my husband, being there for him. These are all real things.' It's a perception she aims at on 'Run It Up' with BossMan Dlow, singing, 'No matter how many points I put up on the board, you know they gon' hate / I'm in a league of my own, I'm a wife and a mom / … You ain't gotta worry, you know that we straight.' 'I go from the stage to the classroom. I go from the classroom to the football field to support my husband. Then, I got on my schedule we're gonna go school shopping tomorrow,' said the 39-year-old who wrote on every song. 'That's how my life is, but I would not have it any other way.' 'CiCi' reunites with Jazze Pha Other standout tracks include the previously released slow jam 'Ecstasy' which she later remixed with Normani and Teyana Taylor, and the feel good 'Drop Your Love,' sampling 'Love Come Down' from Evelyn 'Champagne' King. She continued her two-step groove on 'This Right Here,' recreating the nostalgic magic with Pha and resurfacing his memorable 'Ci-araaa!' ad-lib. 'It's always been love with Jazze and I … there was behind-the-scenes type of stuff that was beyond he and I,' referring to the producer who crafted her megahit '1,2 Step' with Missy Elliott. ' People want the classic him. They want me to be me, too, in that moment. And so, I feel like we accomplished that.' Not forgetting to live Becoming one of the first celebrities to gain Benin citizenship as part of a recent law by the small West African nation granting rights to descendants of enslaved people, Ciara hopes to shed light on the country, as well as the continent which has exploded globally in the music market thanks to Afrobeats. She's also expanding her Why Not You Foundation, the nonprofit founded with Wilson in 2014 to help disadvantaged youth with educational and personal development resources. With Why Not You centers already in Atlanta and Pittsburgh, they plan to expand in the New York-New Jersey area. Wilson signed with the New York Giants during the offseason. 'Success to me is yes, putting out music. Being the best artist I can be, hopefully being known as one of the best to ever do it … But it's not solely in that,' she said. 'People lose themselves because they didn't live. I don't want to be that girl – I'm not going to be that girl." ___ Follow Associated Press entertainment journalist Gary Gerard Hamilton at @GaryGHamilton on all his social media platforms.

Sparks flew between Radio One DJ Melvin, 45, and his 31-year-old girlfriend Hannah Holland after being introduced through social media influencer GK Barry. An insider told The Sun: 'Melvin and Hannah really hit it off and are incredibly happy together. 'They're both keen to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, but their chemistry is undeniable. 'It's now an open secret in the industry - everyone's thrilled for Melvin.' Redhead Hannah spent time Down Under in her role as CEO of HLD - a London-based Entertainment Agency - which represents GK Barry. She signed the star, real name Grace Keeling, who'd gone viral with her relatable and funny TikTok videos during the Covid lockdown. Hannah's paths crossed with Melvin while the pair watched from the family and friends area outside camp after Melvin was fourth to be voted out of the jungle. Presenter Melvin, who openly discussed his single status on the ITV show, had hopes of winning the heart of his cougar crush Carol Vorderman, 64, after leaving the show. He brought a cushion with a picture of her face printed on it as his luxury item on the show. The 45-year-old even role-played a date with her alongside his campmates - calling her his 'dream woman'. Former Countdown host Carol sent a voice note into the jungle spin-off show, Unpacked, telling him: 'See you on the other side.' I'm A Celeb's Melvin Odoom reveals Carol Vorderman has GHOSTED him She ghosted Melvin after sending her his number on social media. Melvin - who co-hosts the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge with Rickie Haywood-Williams and Charlie Hedges - admitted finding dating 'hard' before meeting Hannah. Speaking about looking for a future partner - he described wanting someone 'adventurous, motivated and passionate'. Meanwhile Hannah was focused on work before locking eyes with her now-partner - having secured the first TikTok star in I'm A Celeb history, a place in the jungle. She told followers at the time: 'Myself and Grace put this on our strategy 3 years ago and we bloody have done it! 'I'm so proud of you Grace, I can't wait for you to show the world how kind, funny and quick you are. Enjoy the big kangaroo balls.' GK Barry is said to be "thrilled" for the couple, who attended her 26th birthday party earlier this month. The Saving Grace podcaster and guests dressed as 'grandmas' as they enjoyed a knees-up at The Prince pub in London. Looking almost unrecognisable, Hannah transformed into 'momager' Kris Jenner for the intimate event - while Melvin snubbed the theme and stayed casual in a white top and shorts. Our insider added: "Melvin and Hannah are head over heels, it's the real deal." I'm A Celebrity was watched by eight million people last series, which was won by McFly star Danny Jones. 5 Melvin was introduced to Hannah by GK Barry, who Melvin enjoyed a fun-filled pub trip with dressed up as grandmas Credit: Instagram / gkbarry_ 5 Melvin previously revealed he had a crush on Carol Vorderman Credit: instagram/@melvinodoom

She told The Express: 'I ended up in hospital with what turned out to be a stomach ulcer, and they said, 'It's probably best if you stop drinking for a bit'. 'It was never an addiction issue, I was a social drinker, I'd go out and have some wine, that kind of thing. 'But they said, 'Oh it's probably best if you stop for a little bit just to let the stomach ulcer settle'. So I stopped for a few weeks and I felt really good.' From that point on, Briony said she decided to 'just keep going', and found herself losing weight, feeling healthier, and being more present with loved ones. 'My mental health especially has improved no end - I've had depression since my late teens and that is so much easier to manage not having alcohol in my life,' she said. Now, Briony has become an advocate for sober living, launching Instagram page Gloriously Sober, and creating a community for those who have also ditched booze. Her career has also soared, with her becoming one of Escape to the Country's most loved presenters.
