HRD Minister Lokesh examines education kits for pupils in Andhra Pradesh
A key highlight of the review was the inspection of STEM lab kits, which will be distributed to 222 PM Shri schools. Each STEM kit contains 335 items, specially designed to be research-based and concept-oriented. Officials said these kits aim to enhance students' practical knowledge and skills in science, technology, engineering, and Mathematics.
Lokesh also examined a range of library books curated for primary, upper primary, and secondary schools. He thoroughly reviewed the Jaadui Pitara kit and other print-rich and handmade FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy) materials tailored for Grade 1 and 2 students. He interacted with the staff and enquired about the design, content, and distribution logistics of these educational tools.

Naipunyam to help boost youth employment
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government isset to launch 'Naipunyam', a new skill development portal, on September 1. Announcing this at the Green Energy Conference here on Wednesday, Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh emphasised that the portal would be a key tool for connecting the state's youth with relevant job opportunities, particularly in emerging sectors like green energy. The portal will be operated in collaboration with the AP Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). Its primary goal is to provide industry-specific training and serve as a bridge between skilled talent and the private sector, both domestically and internationally. Lokesh outlined the government's plan to develop industrial clusters across the state to decentralise economic growth and attract investments. Each cluster will focus on a specific sector like Anantapur (automobile manufacturing); Kurnool (renewable energy); Kadapa and Chittoor (electronics manufacturing; Nellore (specialised manufacturing, including air conditioning); Prakasam (compressed bio-gas (CBG): Guntur and Krishna ('Quantum Valley' hubs); and north Andhra (pharma, IT, data centers, and medical device manufacturing). Lokesh highlighted the positive impact of such initiatives on rural communities, citing the example of a woman in Anantapur who became financially independent after securing a job at a Kia Motors ancillary unit. "We want to replicate that impact across the state, especially for women and rural youth," he said. He also mentioned that Suzlon had already established two skill training centers in the state.

UP Govt To Introduce 'Learning By Doing' Approach For Science, Math Teachers
Selected science and mathematics teachers, technical instructors, DIET master trainers, and educators from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas will receive specialised training. To integrate innovation and practicality into education, the Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a new initiative under the 'Learning by Doing' programme, aimed at making teachers more experimental and technically proficient. Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and PM SHRI scheme, selected science and mathematics teachers, technical instructors, DIET master trainers, and educators from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) will receive specialised training. This residential training programme, conducted in phases, will take place at the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development and the Deen Dayal Upadhyay State Rural Development Institute in Lucknow. The primary goal is to help teachers adopt modern teaching methodologies to make classroom learning more effective, engaging, and impactful for students. With technical guidance from UNICEF and the STAR Forum-Vigyan Ashram, training sessions will start on August 5, 2025, and will continue in stages until March 18, 2026, involving participants across four categories. 'The Learning by Doing programme is set to revolutionise the education system in Uttar Pradesh. This initiative will not only enhance the teaching skills of educators but also provide students with hands-on, logical, and engaging learning experiences. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership, this initiative marks a significant step towards improving education quality through empowered teachers," said Sandeep Singh, Minister of Basic Education of Uttar Pradesh. To simplify and make the teaching of science and mathematics more experiential, special focus will be placed on the Learning by Doing model. As part of this, two science subject lecturers from each district will undergo a 4-day TOT (Training of Trainers). Additionally, science and math teachers and technical instructors from 2,274 selected schools in 2024-25 will receive two-day specialised training. In 2025-26, science and math teachers from 3,288 newly selected schools (including KGBVs) will undergo 3-day training. District Coordinators (Community Participation) will also receive 2- or 3-day training sessions to enhance school-community engagement. A total of 76 DIET faculty members will serve as master trainers. Approximately 2,074 science/maths teachers and technical instructors from the 2,274 selected schools will participate, along with around 1,888 participants from the 3,288 newly selected schools (including KGBVs). Srikalahasti institute of technology merged with JNTU-Anantapur
Tirupati : The NDA govt in the state fulfilled one of its electoral promises made to the people of Srikalahasti assembly constituency by reviving academics at Srikalahasti institute of technology (SKIT) in Tirupati district by merging it with the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Anantapur. SKIT was established by Srikalahasteeswara Swamy Devasthanams in 1997. The institute flourished for over two decades but closed down in 2020 during the YSRCP regime. In the run-up to the 2024 elections, the TDP alliance promised to people of Srikalahasti that they will revive academics at SKIT after returning to power in the state. Following a series of meetings between Srikalahasti legislator Bojjala Sudheer Reddy and HRD minister Nara Lokesh, it was decided to merge SKIT into the JNTU-Anantapur fold to revive academics from this year itself. Sudheer Reddy said SKIT will be part of the second round of EAMCET counselling in Aug following the institute's merger. admissions will be available for students in computer science engineering (CSE), electronics and communications engineering (ECE), electrical and electronics engineering (EEE), computer science engineering in data science (CSD), and CSE with artificial intelligence and machine learning, he said.
